  1. Even the look on the toddler's face says, 'Can you believe this @#@#?!?'
  2. Tag Teaming a tattoo breaks my brain. Plus the music in the video is pretty nice. Shige is the man, especially, not sure of proper grammar, but the nipple placement is pretty cool.
  3. Picked up a graphic novel about Feynman a couple of weeks ago, loved it.
  4. Technical Foul! I'm going to be doing a Second Golden Age Disney Animated Feature + Studio Ghibli Marathon to bleach my mind.
  5. Welcome to the forums. If you are willing, please post a picture of your tattoo from Jondix, when you get it. Take Care!
  6. @Johnny I think you are fine. But at this point, I think people are going to just start repeating each other and/or themselves. I personally don't think you are being "cheap", at least here in the States, especially Florida, people are getting really blasted by the economy, I understand. The point is that, obviously, everyone here, to some extent, thinks a tattoo is an investment in yourself, and hence are willing to save, wait, travel, and spend accordingly.
  7. You won't get any help in terms of finding out about price from the forum. There is supposed to be a convention near you in a few months. I would just go to that and ask around, get a sense of people and style, and then follow-up in their shops. Other people can speak better about what to expect at a convention, or even that particular one, but my sense is not to expect a quote or anything, just collect business cards of people who are nearer to you and that you think do good stuff and then follow up from there. Good Luck to you!
  8. @AlannaCA I completely agree, both movies were definitely worth the price of admission. I saw 50/50 with my mom, so I know what you mean about being kinda embarrassed with some of the dialogue, specifically Seth Rogen. But was still funny and was really moving near the end. I think just the idea of a child, no matter the age, getting sick, and you can't do anything about it, hits a parent pretty hard. The whole idea of it 'being out of your hands' really came through I think, especially near the end. Looking forward to: The Ides of March (George Clooney), The Rum Diary (Johnny Depp/Hunter S. Thompson), Hugo (Scorsese), J.Edgar (Leo/Eastwood), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Fincher/Saw the Original and liked it). Honestly, after that the only movie I am interested in is Lincoln (Spielberg/Daniel Day Lewis/Christmas 2012). @dcostello Sorry man....knows the angst I just caused :|
  9. @dcostello, I agree, in terms of technical execution, it was well done (directing, plotting, acting, etc.). Apologies, but SPOILER ALERT!! The very last line of dialogue of the movie turned it into a sick joke rather than some kind of horrifying catharsis for me personally. Plus, I think that film can't help but glorify whatever it depicts (why I think Ridley Scott is full of shit for saying Black Hawk Down is an anti-war movie), all film is fundamentally entertainment. If I read this story in a novel, I would probably have a different reaction. But you are certainly right, it's the end of the week, nearly, and I am still thinking about it.
  10. Not to be obtuse, but, that is money going towards your tattoo. Thank you for asking the question/resurrecting the thread, @Johnny. Some good advice was generated by that.
  11. @Johnny I would just see who is tattooing other tattooers, especially some of the great tattooers who are on here. The classic, asking a doctor who they would trust to work on them or their family. At least that will point you in the right direction. Plus, if you have waited this long to get a tattoo, why can't you wait several months to a year or two longer to get something awesome from someone who is awesome. Big piece, small piece, etc. doesn't really matter, it's ink permanently on your skin. It's what I am doing. edit: @Iwar put up a pretty cool thread along the same lines as above. http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/tattoo-101/1437-san-francisco-treasures.html After a while, you just get an eye for it, I think. Honestly, you don't need to be a film-maker to know what a good movie is, a film-maker might know what makes the movie good (behind-the-scenes), but you don't really need to know that for what you are seeking. But excited for you and looking forward to seeing what you end up with, happy times!
  12. @Johnny I'm not as easily disturbed as I used to be, but I saw her and just scratched my head and sighed. But the overall presentation is cool like that, lots of different takes, rather than just being pigeon holed into a stereotype, they are there, but so is alot else. But yeah, no offense meant to anyone, but she creeped me out, too.

  14. @Scott R I think a unicorn just died, when I thought about 'A Serbian Film' again. It's in the same genre as Hostel, Saw, Human Centipede, etc...except it's not campy gross out....it's operates on another level. I actually went in pretty blind, hoping for an 'Audition' like experience, for anyone familiar with that film. Mistake. Here's a link to a review to it, it's pretty accurate (plot-wise), except for calling it 'brilliant' it's not, it's foul. 15. Recently saw "50/50" and thought it was really good. It was funny, not hilarious, but funny and surprisingly moving. Also saw "A Serbian Film".....if you value your humanity.....take a pass.....
  16. I thought that 'The Passage' was truly great! I just hope he doesn't take a Martin-esque writing pace to finish his series. I heard it is supposed to be pretty different in terms of setting, etc. Speaking of which, the author of 'The Passage' just wrote a review of a new zombie book, Zone One by Colson Whitehead, where he said: He could have been writing a review of his own book with that one.
  17. Be prepared for a stunning experience reading Martin. I just hope you do not get spoiled by someone, which would suck. Anyone interested in good vampire stories should check out, The Passage by Justin Cronin. Huge book reader, glad to see a thread for them here!
  18. Hello, I found this pretty cool stop motion video in three parts on youtube for a half sleeve 'nerd' tattoo described as follows: *I didn't want to just do a one-off thread, so thought to just title it 'Tattoos on Video' so other people might want to post similar videos, if they like. I am not sure, but I do not think it has any real 'how-to' applications to it. If so, apologies and please feel free to remove.
  19. @Scott R That's one of the best portraits I have seen, just superb.
