  1. Cows smooze, people schmooze. Hard work and dedication to the craft always stands out in the end, while people seeking fame are generally recognized for what they are. I think it's okay that the masses are sometimes drawn to the less talented self promoters, not everyone deserves a great tattoo.
  2. I have used some kind of numbing creme before, but when it hits the spots where the creme didn't take it's really, really intense. However, my husband recently brought some home and it's sitting in our medicine cabinet, we're planning on using it to finish my stomach/lower ribs. (I sat extra super crappy when we did the outline.) I think the creme's to make him feel better. I had my Jondix arm finished yesterday, he worked on it with a few leisurely breaks from 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm. I should've taken ibuprofen before I got there like I usually do, but forgot and didn't take it til we had been going at least an hour. I ate a big salad and some tofu for protein about halfway through which always helps me. And right before the last 45 minutes, right around the point where I want to tell the tattooer that it's done/that I can't sit any longer, I ate some dark chocolate, got me the rest of the way through. I have taken vicadin or something like it in the past, just made me say dumb shit and feel sick later on.
  3. Hey, Thanks for joining us and introducing yourself. and seriously, lucky you for getting such a sweet first tattoo! You'll have to get some shitty ones later just to balance it out.
  4. Blackheart takes credit cards. The company that provides the service and the machine take a big cut of the profits each month, and they pay sporadically, but always make sure to debit their extra monthly service fees in a timely fashion. They just switched to a new company where they swipe the card through a little reader connected to an iPad. So far, it's simpler and less expensive. But cash is always king.
  5. Whether or not you support their position, the First Amendment guarantees our right to freedom of speech and our right to assemble, for people to gather for peaceful and lawful purposes. However, the city is planning an eviction, with police support, to "clean" the park. The park is privately owned, but with the condition that it be open to the public 24 hours a day. Showdown looms between Wall St protesters and cops - Yahoo! News Protest organizers are cleaning the park themselves, forced removal by the police is a terrible idea. You can sign this petition to the Mayor if you support them staying, or just to let remind them that the world is watching: Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) | URGENT: Defend Occupy Wall Street
  6. Phillip, so great to see you on here! Thanks for putting up all those pictures, I really dig your style. BTW, have you seen my house lately? You're welcome to walk up driveway and show your son if you want, I think this type of construction is a lot more exciting when you're 4!
  7. The Occupy Wall Street movement has come up in another thread, but I thought it deserved it's own. I thought it might be interesting to post some of the images and quotes that have struck a cord in us, whether it's a picture or a video from a mainstream media source or any type of social media. My first contribution isn't uplifting or even current, but I believe these are relevant words from a master-

I always knew he was a piece of shit, but talk about a new low. But then again, Donna....

    Sons of Anarchy

Yeah, thought it was something like that.
  10. No, no, no offense taken. I've actually seen that 2nd photo posted on FB, I just vented here 'cause I felt like I had a few minutes, and LST is more personal to me than FB. And Kanye can wear whatever he wants, IMO, he is the man who said on live TV "George Bush doesn't like black people." He can make a suit out of $100 bills for all I care, especially if it mobilizes more people to get up and fight fascism. Again, just my opinion, @Duffa, we can still be BFF.
  11. I don't think people are protesting ALL corporations, a lot of people don't even see themselves as "protesting," just unifying against the gov't/corporation/big bank unions that allows for the continual fucking of the middle class until there is no longer a middle class. A lot of people who work really hard, or are willing to work really hard, are tired of having all their money stolen by Enron or whoever's stealing it this week, and they're tired of seeing big corporations get billions in bailouts while their homes get foreclosed on and their parents retirements and pensions disappear. There is not really much of a middle class in America anymore, we're all poor now. Just because someone thinks that corporations shouldn't control the gov't doesn't mean they can't have an ipod or shave or even have gold teeth, for that matter.
  12. I have two, both from Thirteen. One from Chummy Alexanian, it's a piece of candy on one ankle, the other is a cupcake with 13 as the candles from Hector Fong. I love them, but really just because I love those guys, nothing picture worthy.
  13. I have two big pieces from him from approximately 1997. (Kinda makes me feel old, that was a long time ago!) I don't like to put my tats online too much, but as a big Whitehead fan, I will certainly post them if I can find someone with a decent camera handy.
  14. Love it all, Iwar, it was a pleasure to meet you, and a pleasure to see all your pictures and read your words. I also love the "I'm never getting tattooed again" segway into a "little filler tattoo" from Cody Miller. Cody's a great guy, I hope it was fun. Thanks again for documenting it all. And for the licorice!
  15. Nope, different, Cafe Du Nord this year, but the general vibe will be the same, "a bunch of bearded tattooers getting rambunctious and possibly topless," just like @amoxill said.
  16. So great that you're coming! I usually run through the building a few times over the weekend, can't wait to meet you guys in person.
  17. Thank you, my Houston friend, for letting me know I need a babysitter for that night!
  18. It is almost like he's nonchalantly searching for his penis. "If it was really big, would it be up here?"
  19. Loved it. Kinda got me a little pumped, kinda want a new tattoo.
  20. OMG and LOL. What's going on with his face? What's he thinking? "What the hell is going on? What the fuck happened to me?"
  21. Next time I'm in Philly, I'll take you up on that.
