  1. i won't be able to go in and speak with him because i'm flying in to get tattooed. i was gonna call and ask, but i figured i'd see what you folks had to say.
  2. my man. i live in rochester, ny, so i'd prefer to stay within about 20 minutes of my house.
  3. Thanks, @ Dan S. I’ve never trained in any kind of martial arts/mma. I’m 26 and pretty out of shape. I used to play baseball and softball, but haven’t in a while. I wanted to get back in shape, and basically not be a lazy piece of shit. I’m not really interested in joining a gym, so I figured something like this would be more fun. I’m not looking to fight or anything, this would be more of a way to get/keep me in shape.
  4. I’m planning on getting tattooed in September. I wanted to get a bracelet (I think that’s what they’re called) tattoo around my wrist, as well as another tattoo on the side of my forearm on the same arm. The question that I have is will this be a problem getting both of these one after the other? I was thinking that it might be difficult to get both of them done since they’ll be on the same arm and fairly close to one another. I don’t know though.
  5. i'm thinking about beginning to train. i really want to do it, but it's pretty expensive.
  6. it's not that it's a poorly done tattoo, but it's something that i definitely would not get at this point in time if i could get a redo. it was my second tattoo, so i don't get bummed about it. - - - Updated - - - and to be honest, brad fink wasn't really a cool dude. he was kind of a prick. he made me bring in a picture that he could retrace, pretty much made me feel like a poser because i didn't have any tattoos. fuck that shit.
  7. quality read. i knew a girl that when her that I have tattoos that I picked off of a wall, her response was, “ew. I’d never do that. I want all mine to be custom.” This coming from a broad that has a giant crawling panther on her back. The best analogy I can give when describing people not understanding tattoos and flash is with music. Most people don’t even know what the fuck good music is. they think the top 40 hits on the radio qualifies as good music. How can some ignoramus be expected to understand flash when they’re so willing to be spoon fed everything and not try to figure shit out for themselves. Sadly, even my friends that are into punk, hardcore and indie still aren’t down with getting flash tattooed on them. It’s a total bummer. Either way, that was a very good article. Thanks for posting it.
  8. to be honest with you, i'm not a big fan of it. it was my second tattoo and it’s really nothing to write home about. i enjoy it, but if i could, i would've done something different in that spot. here's a pic right after it was done, only one i have right now.
  9. definitely agree with this. i don't know if this is the case, but I feel like sometimes that is done to mimic some of the really all time flash that was drawn up in the late 1800s by folks that really weren’t the most artistically-abled individuals. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I’ve thought. Either way, I agree that I find it lame. i'll also add that i really don't like traditional Americana tattoos with no shading and just straight up all colored in with black and some other colors, instead of using shading. I find them to not be very appealing. There are several younger tattooers that I can think of that come to mind. on to the OP's original post-Honestly, I don’t understand the appeal of “arty” or hyper real looking tattoos. If you want a piece of art, fucking buy yourself a piece, frame it, and hang it on your wall. my walls are covered with art prints. However, I’d never get anything that was meant as a piece of art tattooed on me, at least not something exactly the same. It’s been said enough on this board, and in this thread, but tattoos that look like tattoos are made that way and for a very specific reason. Blah. Blah, blah I’m probably rehashing shit that’s already been said already.
  10. So far I’ve been tattooed by Krooked Ken, Joseph DiProjetto, Franz Stefanik, Zach Nelligan, Ashley Riot, Brad Fink, Nate Moretti, Dan Santoro.
  11. i've also read that a spider web doesn't have to just be associated with con's/prison tattoos. it could also symbolize being trapped in a time/aspect of life.
  12. here's an interview with jason phillips i did. check it out. Interview with Jason Phillips | Our Endless Days
  13. i udnerstand this, but spider webs are seriously one of my favorite images. i want to cap my shoulders with them, as well as get them on my knees with something in the middle. i'm the furthest thing from a con, but fuck it. they look so damn awesome.
  14. the four with the battle royale, the dragon, lady and the dragon, and jesus head are so awesome.
  15. I had a dude that is currently deployed leave me a comment on my blog saying how much he loved it, and that he read all 250 some odd posts and loved it. I thought that was seriously so awesome.
  16. when i was in school, i said the same thing-once i graduate, get a job, then i'll get tattooed. that's exactly what i did, and now there's seriously no stopping me. i'm seriously so addicted, it's not even funny. i couldn't care less how my tattoos would affect my job/career. fuck it. i will say that i only plan on getting tattooed on places on my body i can cover. i wouldn't go to my hands or neck, at least not at this point. as it stands, my plan is to be covered from the collar bone down, but that's a long way from now.
  17. i wish i had soemthing to contribute. i love looking at older pics of tattoos.
