  1. Not at all. Red, at least for me, and many others, takes a little longer to heal. As long as its healing well and not oozing or looking scary, I wouldn't worry. Give it as long as it needs.

I'll second this, red always seems to take longer to heal on me but it ends up looking just as bright as any other colour.

  2. I am very afraid of needles. A tattoo doesn't feel like an injection. It's a completely different feeling.

I'm exactly the same as you. Hate needles with a passion, i can't even watch a scene in a movie where someone is being injected (hell, even the blood drawing scene in pulp fiction where you don't see the needle at all gives me the creeps) but i'll sit there and watch myself being tattooed all day long.

  3. Thanks man! Dare I say, the thighs are a cake walk.. at least the fronts of 'em. And not so much when you get up into the "bathing suit area" where the tails go. Could literally watch how the skin change affected the line/color.. crazy.

I think the hardest part of my thigh tattoo was the artist (stewart robson in this case) practically blunting his razor shaving off all my damn hair.

  4. Hi, i hope its ok to post on this thread. I'm quite new here so can't start up a new one yet and i was wondering if anyone was going to the convention in Telford tomorrow, sun 13th jan 2013. I've never been to one before and was thinking of having a drive down.

Little late replying but the Brighton convention is coming up in a couple of weeks and that's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

  5. Doug Hardy said on Instagram that Book Mistress will be carrying it though I don't see it on the website yet.

    BookMistress Home Page

I bought the deVita book in person from her at the Montreal convention and mentioned how expensive shipping was at Last Gasp (I was going to buy the deVita book from them but shipping would have more or less doubled the cost of the book) and she said that her shipping rates were more reasonable. Looking at her website she uses USPS so I would assume that her shipping isn't going to be crazy expensive.

I just went through the buying process on bookmistress and the shipping shows as $69.65, bringing the total to nearly $120!

Sometimes it's tough being a little Englander :/

  6. You have just made my year :-) will definitely be buying this for myself, do you happen to know if it's sold in the UK anywhere?

I've been wondering this too. I saw a post by Doug Hardy on instagram saying to buy from luckys supply (who are only taking orders by phone), hardy marks (who don't accept paypal payments from outside the US) or last gasp (who charge $45 to ship - doubling the cost of the book, before any potential customs charge gets added), but i'm yet to find any options domestically.

  7. I usually take the wrap off after 4 hours, have a hot shower (which always SUCKS), then pat dry and apply a thin layer of bepanthen (nappy rash cream). Wash morning and evening and keep a tube of e45 cream with me in case it dries out at all.

  8. -snip-

I can't imagine anyone with a brain being down for getting tattooed under a time limit.

I haven't seen the show but this bothers me hugely.

I've been tattooed by people who are fast and by people who are not so fast, but the key is that they're always working at their own pace and the result of that has been a fantastic tattoo. I'd rather endure 6 hours of pain and pay twice as much than spend 3 hours in the chair and end up with a rushed piece of shit on my body.

  9. Wow, love that baseball tattoo!

I'm a huge football (soccer) fan but i would never consider getting a team badge/crest tattooed on my body. Having said that, the badge for my favourite club (Arsenal) is an old style cannon, which i think would make quite a nice tattoo if done in a traditional style.
