  1. Looks like a lighthouse to me. I say don't sweat it.
  2. If you get it as a tattoo it will look like a tattoo and not a sticker.
  3. Luxury or not there is a particular stigma about money and tattoos that doesn't seem to apply to other goods and services. I had a friend (who has tattoos and knows what they cost) say to me when I started my sleeve something like, "You guys must be doing pretty well," which kinda stuck in my craw. I mean would anybody say that to someone if they pulled up in a Lexus instead of a sh*tbox car? Both take you from point A to B. Why go out to dinner when you can just eat rice & beans from the bulk bin for every meal? For me the experience of getting tattooed is definitely worth something -- like going to a spa or something. But when you get a massage you don't walk away with anything except a good feeling and that fades. There are also few things in life that are truly one-of-a-kind other than a painting or a sculpture, but with tattoos you carry the art with you all the time. As far as the money goes, I do feel guilty about it sometimes for reasons I can't quite explain. Then again since I quit drinking and smoking weed, tattoos are pretty much my only vice, and if I added up the $$$ spent on booze and certain illicit substances, I can say with some certainty I'm well ahead of the game!
  4. I like it. Good choice.
  5. Usually we require two weeks notice in writing as well as a doctor's note.
  6. Rocks and water work well together in the Japanese style. Traditionally backgrounds are in black and gray but maybe you could do something with color -- red and blue?
  7. I also don't know you but this kind of wise advice from a stranger is a gift. @Sick speaks truth. PS: Your tattoo is fine. Seen better, seen much much worse. Don't cover it, get more.
  8. I'll second the Spock tattoo with the quote in a banner and some badass flames. The other design is okay but it's not doing much for me. Boldly go.
  9. Last season of True Detective set the bar very high but I thought the first episode was excellent. I don't know what people expected. More of the same? I quit OITNB after the first three because it was so boring but maybe I'll give it another chance.
  10. It's been said on here before but I'll say it again: BLACK. MIRROR. I'm four episodes inn and it's just soul-shattering. Best thing I've seen on tv in ages. (Avail on Netflix streaming BTW)
  11. Wait a sec. When I said @Graeme was being a dick I meant "conscientiously patrolling this board for the purpose of weeding out inane and useless comments" not that he's a bad guy in any way. We all know he's a sweetheart. Well most of us do...

  13. Speaking only for myself, @Graeme being a dick to people is one of the few things that keep this board interesting these days -- aside from looking at pics of y'all's lovely tattoos, that is.
  14. I'm stoked as I'll be able to look at it more than she does!
  15. I stand corrected. Looks like he really doesn't do neck tattoos. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but I should've known better. I also thought this was a brilliant analogy: “A neck tattoo on someone without a lot of tattoos is like lighting a birthday candle on an unbaked cake.”
  16. I am a little surprised he wouldn't do it seeing as she is a grown-ass woman and, yeah, he probably wouldn't have said that to a guy. But I guess that's his prerogative, just as it is hers to whine-blog about it. My main objection to the tattoo is that she didn't get it bigger in a cooler font.
  17. Look at lots of tattoos. Find an artist you like. Make an appointment. See if the two of you can brainstorm some good Imagery. Don't stay married to all those words (unless you can get some nice lettering inside a banner). Oh and if you're gonna get a sleeve, get a sleeve.
  18. That was really powerful. Thanks for sharing.
  19. I don't know WTF is going on here, but this looks pretty terrible.
  20. Really? I've seen nothing but love for most of these dudes on here. Isn't there a whole thread on Filip Leu? I do hope you stick around though. Strong opinions and healthy debate are what keeps this place interesting.
  21. I'm impressed by the technical ability of color portrait artists like Nikko Hurtado or Paul Acker, but a tattoo of Capt. Jack Sparrow or Catwoman, no matter how perfect, doesn't make me feel a thing. But that's how I judge all art -- not by how well someone can paint something that looks "lifelike" (or, in the case of music, how fast Yngwie Malmsteen can shred) if it has no soul. I'll take a Neil Young solo any day. I love how the best traditional tattoos can distill the essence of a thing with so few lines, and the more I look at tattoos, the more I can appreciate it. Strong, powerful images is what does it for me. No one would ever say Picasso is a bad artist because his paintings are "simple" or don't look "real." People can like what they like, but bashing traditional tattoos just makes the one saying it look kinda dumb or at least uninformed.
  22. Nice balance with that eagle. Is that your one and only panther?
