You’re fine. No tattoo is as bright 6 weeks later as the day it was done.

I'm finishing up a body suit this year and at 64, I've been concerned about my skin continuing to be fit to tattoo. I took a break during COVID, so I lost two years, but I've had four appointments in the last several months. In preparation for the appointments, every day I applied cocoa butter liberally on the areas to be tattooed for a full month prior to my appointment. My last two appointments focused on the ribs and in addition to not hurting nearly as much as my previous rib tattoos, both sessions healed in record time. All of the red was gone within two days, I had very little pain and they healed very nicely. I've probably got another 6 sessions left and I'm going to continue doing this; hopefully it will help all my sessions heal quickly.
Anyway, it's not a scientific experiment, it's only one person, but I thought I'd share it. It certainly won't hurt and it might help.

Sweat it out. Skin cancer is no fun. The problem is, when it’s too late it’s too late. And 12 is not “a few.” 😉

Don’t worry, rough patches just take longer to heal. Worst case, you can probably get it touched up.

Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objective, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

If you have OCD, do not get any other tattoos. You are going to drive yourself crazy. Tattoos are made by humans, and humans aren't perfect. There will always be things you see as "imperfections," and obsessing over them is not healthy.

It looks fine. OCD is a great way to make a good tattoo worse. Trust me, NOBODY is eyeing your tattoo with a microscope except you. Enjoy it and get more tattoos.

It's what both of the artists used on my tattoos.  The second artist told me to keep it on for a week. So it's all I know and even though it's a pisser pulling it off, I'm very happy with the results.

AlH reacted to Hogrider in Rib tattoo, not sure if heavily bruised or blowout.
Not all spontaneous tattoos from an unknown artist suck, but most tattoos that suck are spontaneous and from unknown artists.

AlH reacted to loorop01 in Rib tattoo, not sure if heavily bruised or blowout.
I was freaking out when I first saw all the bruising and thought it was all blowout but actually now that it's calmed down a bit it doesn't look nearly as bad as it did in those pictures. I do have blowout, but an amount I can live with and not one that looks like a permanent bruise, yay!
This was a lesson, though, in maaaaybe not getting a spontaneous tattoo in a sensitive place in a foreign country 😬😬

Nobody is saying you're stupid and nobody is happy that you're not happy. Take a deep breath and calm down. We're offering advice so it doesn't happen again. Very few people are happy with every single tattoo they have. As the saying goes, "sh!t happens." If someone is offering advice you don't want, just ignore it.
And please stop beating yourself up. The only thing you are guilty of is being human.

Your tattoo has really nice line work. Sorry it's not what you envisioned, but no one will look at that with the same critical eye as you.  Remember your friends have no expectations about your ink.   They'll see what we see, a clean nice tattoo.   Live with it for a while at least through the entire healing process then see how you feel.
When I got my first tattoo I was disappointed because of lines that weren't as clean as I had originally imagined.  The first thing I thought was laser to correct it. But after advice from this site and looking at loads of other tattoos, I considered the big picture. Like you I'm getting more.  So in the end it's just one part of my tattoo experience. And, I love it now, and it's imperfections.

First, sorry it didn’t work out as planned. Second, don’t do anything until you’ve lived with it for a while. I’ve seen plenty of cover ups that wound up worse because people were in such a hurry to “fix” them. At the very least you need it to let it completely heal before you start to monkey with it. Patience is your friend.
Plenty of people have come to love a tattoo that they initially didn’t like.

With both of my tattoos I spent weeks sketching and reworking my ideas till I was happy and sure with my idea. And I still waited a few weeks living with the piece before I committed.   I have several more ideas I'm working on and will  probably so the same with them.

Stopped in at the shop yesterday to make an appointment for touch up and plan out some more work.
Tim looks at my healed tat and says let’s liven that up right now.
He pushed some white into just the right spots.
    Have a peek.

True, but we can point them to it and ask them to read it before they ask further questions. I'm not trying to stifle traffic, I'm just trying to create a forum where the same questions aren't asked three times a week.
Thanks Steve! I'm sure this will be a work in progress, but at least it's started.

Oh, my god. Yes, please. It's the exact same question over and over and over and over and over.
They probably still won't read the pinned thread, but it's worth a shot.
