  1. Battered and bruised! Had my first session on my back with Chris over at Kings Ave this past Thursday. I managed to get through 4 hours to complete the basic outline with the exception of the hair on the severed heads. Saving that for the next session along with the remaining background. I'm super excited to continue to work on this and see it progress over time as this is what I've been busting my hump at work for the past year now and it's absolutely completely worth it.

  3. If you need some sort of diagram or tree to help you decide what tattoo you want to get you really shouldn't even be getting a tattoo to begin with.
  4. For what it's worth my entire lower leg is done and I didn't think it was too bad from what I can remember. Walking on it shouldn't be a problem without too much discomfort. Yea there is some but it's nothing too excruciating where you can't walk on it entirely. The only thing I would ever suggest taking time off 100% for is if you get your feet tattooed.
  5. This looks like it was an amazing exhibit and one I'll probably never be able to make it too so thanks once again to all those that posted descriptions and pictures. It is very much appreciated!
  6. Holy Crap @TheLance and @Eilin! Simply stunning.
  7. Thank you for the pictures @Hands On! It's great to see these especially for the people that weren't able to attend.
  8. Congrats @suburbanxcore! I'll be going to this on Friday to get tattooed by Steve Byrne. Not sure how long I'll be able to stay afterwards cause I have to go to work at midnight but it would be cool to meet anyone else who is going.
  9. @ian Hopefully everything works out for you in the end im pulling for ya. As for LST; this forum is great. Being relatively new here myself I've found this place to be nothing but welcoming and I felt right at home. It's refreshing to be able to talk tattoos and share them with others that show the same level of enthusiam in them as I do. Simply put LST is the sh*t!
  10. I get eyegasm's everytime I see a Dorsey painting. Seriously phenominal work and for him to have a new one almost everyday is insane. Between tattooing and life in general I have no idea how he finds the time. Would love to get something from him one day.
  11. You should never be afraid to ask the artist that is tattooing you to make changes in regards to anything. Maybe you don't like a small detail and want it changed, think the tattoo may be a little too big and needs to be downsized or maybe the stencil was placed on you and you think it may needs to be moved over a little bit because you didn't think it looked good in that spot. The tattoo is going to be on you for the rest of your life and you should be happy with every aspect of it and they completely understand this. I remember when I got my first tattoo I was anxious/nervous and didn't really talk that much which made for an incredibly boring session. Now I tend to shoot the shit, talk about what we both love which is tattoos and have some good conversation which could make your session fly by. It's all part of the experience. Seriously though these people are human beings just like us, they are not going to kill you or will they?
  12. We have all been in @finegentleman shoes at one point or another. Deciding on an artist to do your first tattoo is no easy task considering the choices of talented artists that are out there especially in NYC. With that being said I wouldn't choose an artist solely based on whether or not their estimation is lower than the others the same way I wouldn't rule out an artist based on their hourly rate. This is because when you ask for an estimation all that it is; is a "ballpark" estimation. There are a ton of factors that go into the time it takes to complete a sleeve that people have already mentioned so I'd say it 's next to impossible for an artist to judge exactly how long it is going to take. Also, if you take their estimate on time literally you're only setting yourself up for disappointment when you surpass their estimated time by a few more hours and then you may be pissed that it's taking longer then they originally said when it wasn't done on purpose. In the end though if you're serious you are going to have to start having some consultations with the artists to discuss your ideas and have your questions answered.
  13. Thanks and nothing in particular for the calves except on leg day!
  14. I'm on Rubendalls priority booking list for sometime in 2016. Got a long wait ahead of me.
  15. We've all been there and done that in regards to the e-mailing; myself included. I had e-mailed a very well respected artist about starting my other arm and doing a half sleeve and chest plate whenever he guest spotted in the city. I got a response back fairly quickly instructing me he'd have to look at his schedule to see if he could fit me in for that years guest spots and to send pictures of the area I'd like tattooed. I promptly wrote back showing pictures but it was crickets after that. Then two months later I had sent another e-mail saying that I had a change of heart in regards to doing the half sleeve and chest plate because I didn't want something to be in progress for so long and would rather do a possible one shot on the ribs. Needless to say I never heard back and in all honestly I never e-mailed again after that. I'm not going to jump through hoops and e-mail you to death in hopes of hearing back that you will tattoo me. There are just too many world class artists out there that will have no problem tattooing you to get hung up over the one that didn't e-mail you back. Just my thoughts on it.
  16. That ship is awesome; @Graeme! I managed to snag a cancellation with Grez yesterday to do a Panther Rose Morph. I'm pretty friggin stoked!

  18. Everyone here has given you solid suggestions and artists to choose from. In the end the choice on who you go to is up to you but I will tell you that you shouldn't be intimated or shy away from an artist simply due to their hourly rates. You could easily work out a schedule with them and go at your own pace to complete the sleeve. It's not like you have to get it done in a month or even a year. As long as your up front with them about when you will be able to get tattooed and don't drop off the face of the planet you could complete a project in whatever time frame is good for you.
  19. My lord, all these updates are staggering! Such phenomenal back pieces in progress that are going to look absolutely amazing when finished.
  20. Looks like it's shaping up to be a good convention. I'll be keeping an eye out for updates to the list of artists for sure.
