  1. Thank-you.

It isn't too bad. So far the most upsetting thing is the prospect of being forever tattooless, though I think that says more about my love of tattoos than it does the nature of the disease, haha.

Sure does, and good for you :)

My wife also has some skin allergies and would like to be tattooed at some stage.

Keep us updated and good luck with the spot test!

  2. Tomo's work is really striking if you like that style, then cool, but do you ever see yourself getting some real traditional Japanese work done? You have a great opportunity to do so living in Japan, would be so awesome if you could get some work done by a tebori master.

  3. I'm on my way to Rising Dragon, NYC to add some much-needed shading to my geisha back piece, and maybe add a little color, depending on my pain threshold. I'll post pics later on. It's been six months since I had work done on that one, so I'm really excited to continue the process.

Just checked out your back piece, looks great, I look forward to seeing the pictures later.

I got 3 hours on my crane and turtle thigh piece on Wednesday, will hopefully finish all the background. Then back again 2 weeks after to finish that portion of my leg with the colour.

  4. The inner elbow was a bit rough and I also found the skin on the inside of my bicep was a bit nippy.

Currently working on a full leg, and am a little concerned about the knee are and lower leg. My body temperature seems to drop whenever I am tattooed and get the shakes pretty bad. Muscle spasms were much more frequent during the 3 hours on my thigh.

I always say the same thing to myself every time I fell that first line..

'Why am I doing this again? No more tattoos for a while, this hurts too much. Then when it's over I can't wait to get back in the chair again.

  5. I was due to be in Dubai in January, but it doesn't look like that will happen now. Out of curiosity, how do the locals react to heavy tattoo coverage? I was planning on covering up, which rarely has a downside.

In general, not a problem, most people are curious and will give you a thumbs up. I have had a few people touch my tattoos without warning which is something you might have to be aware of.

Emirati people are cool and friendly, but there are some more traditional people who have never seen a Caucasian person before, let alone one with tattoos.

I prefer to cover up in the airport, but out and about in malls ect, its no big deal to have some ink showing as long as it's not offensive.

  6. I got both my thighs tattooed this year by Ade Stacey at Nine Tattoo in Brighton. Awesome guy and I love the pieces that he did for me. Baku on one side and Kirin on the other. Something a bit different. The picture of the Baku has come from Ade's own website as you might have guessed from the water mark. In terms of the twitching I got a bit of that towards the bottom of the muscle near the knee but otherwise it wasn't too bad for 5hours+ of tattooing each time.

    Awesome! Love those!

Here is the start to my outer thigh

  7. Hi everyone!

I am currently in the UK where I am from, getting some new ink done, but have been living in the UAE for 2 years.

It's certainly an interesting experience having tattoos and living in the middle east

I'm a big fan of traditional Japanese tattooing, I prefer the more simplistic designs than the the modern style. No better tattoos than well done simple Japanese designs in my opinion but I cant appreciate any kind of cool art.

    Anyway that's me.

Here is what I am getting done at the moment, my outer thigh started.

    'Tsuru Kame'

3 hours in line work finished and a small part shaded. Will eventually extend to a full leg with another auspicious animal, maybe a Kirin.
