Yeah man...I agree with Josh. If you want to keep those designs have them re worked.
Don't stress. I've had plenty of work re worked, covered and it all works in with the suit just fine. welcome to a fkin great journey in getting smashed in ink :)
Take your time now, suss a few different tattooers, just talk with them, be straight up...find a fella who can cover/ re work well. Believe me...I've had real dark tattoos just ploughed over real heavy and it works well if the dude knows what he's doing...just be mindful, round 2 is the last round with this approach.
When ya find a good bloke that will help fix these tattoos for ya, just treat him with some respect & give him some clean skin first to work some real nice pieces. It's about building rapport.

I've been using the pumping hot water way of healing for a few years myself. works a treat.
Steaming hot towel wash down directly after application.
Pumping hot shower (along with ice cold cider) as soon as I get home, washing it down with a body wash.
I only apply a dot of cream for any hard healing areas, mainly is creases or on the hands.

Also what I would do is email Norbert and ask if he would be heading your way I am fairly sure he travels to Melbourne to tattoo, not only at conventions but as a guest artist in some shops.
A lot of artist do travel to Australia more often that you might think. Best to ask the question and get the tattoos you want from the artists you really want.
This year I had tattoos lined up from Steve Byrne and Myke Chambers in Sydney, unfortunately both fell through as they cancelled there trips for whatever reasons.
Ask the questions and you might be pleasantly surprised.
