After 12 years of teaching at my current urban elementary school, I just got hired at another urban elementary school! It is smaller and cleaner, and two of my friends work there. I'm a little nervous about the change--the principal tells me he is "very demanding", but eh, maybe that's a good thing. And my mom told me I wouldn't be able to ever get a job at another school because of my tattoos. I wore a long sleeve shirt to the interview suckaaaaaaas. :p

On a side note, me and @ThatGuy crossed paths in Frith Street without realising, Crossing the online/reality divide. It's a Fantastic back piece! Gets my vote this month.

That's what I thought, but to me, it really distracts from the tattoo. I thought about asking my tattooer to sign mine somewhere since it's a big piece and such a long process, but he will have a large number of possibilities to do it without it being obvious.

Yeah I love his stuff hopefully he won't be fully booked, taking the girlfriend aswell for a birthday present doubt she knows who he is

@beez I never knew this was a thing! @polliwog that clip is great, I remember reading about a study where they had to get food out of a film canister and some crows would trick the other ones as to which one the food was in.. Super smart birds.
Here's a weird story, I have two crows on skulls tattooed on me. First time mid-tattoo Michael Jackson died. Second time mid-tattoo Whitney Houston died. Wanna get a third just to see what'll happen..

Ok so I finished photography school 4 years ago and have been doing journalism and sociology and a bit of this and that since then. I'm still into photography a lot, in theory, but I haven't been as active as before. It's hard to come up with your own projects and carry through when nobody is forcing you, while also living a life. I've been mainly doing everyday photos, travel photos and a few jobs for magazines since I graduated.
But since about a year back I decided to make a photography project consisting of portraits of every tattooer that has and will put ink under my skin. I just made a list and I'm up to 23 names so far, tattooers who has all ready worked on me.
Save for some less involved photo sessions I haven't really put any effort in. Until yesterday when I hung out with and took photos of El Carlo who was guesting at Theo Jaks Infamous Tattoo in Stockholm. El Carlo tattooed me at the London Convention last year and it was really cool to meet him again and chat a bit about Spain, politics, tattooing and art in general.
Now I feel stoked about continuing the project and putting more energy into it. We'll see where it ends, perhaps in 20 years when I'm covered from head to toe it's going to be a book of portraits. I feel inspired!
Bonus: A friend wants a tattoo from me. Now it's time to start a long and glorious career of kitchen scratching, finally. Giddy up!

This was after it was all healed except for the smoke, which later lightened to where you can see the outlines.

I read an article a while back about a surgeon who had an appreciation of tattoos, and felt bad when he had to operate and cut a tattoo. He said that if he had the time, he would spend an extra half hour really working to line up the edges of the tattoo when he closed. I don't recall much about the article, but I got a real sense that he respected the work and wanted to honor the work and take the extra time to address the art as well as the medical procedure. Pretty cool. Makes me think that could be a consideration if it came down to two docs and you had to choose one!

I still haven't decide what to put on the inner arm of this. I've gotten in contact with some artists and I've gotten ideas of skulls, flowers, hanyas, and drums. and severed head
I'm leaning towards a B&G skull.
Is there another badass idea that I'm not considering? Doesn't have to be japanese.

Some ravens were nesting down the street from where I work at Wellesley College and they set up a webcam. The baby fledged on graduation day. It was fascinating to watch this little family, and I hope they return next year.

Ooo a mango tree! We have plain old trees that just shed these seed things that look like long caterpillars. And then seed things that spin around like helicopters. Aaaand then some other stupid thing they shed. Every time the wind blows. I wish we'd at least get some kick ass fruit out of it. Stupid trees.
We are redoing some of our landscaping, which isn't probably awesome to some, but it is to us b/c we pride ourselves on our abilities in the yard.
Aaaaand we've got two weeks before the play opens and it's a bit scary. A big production for a small community. I'm meeting new people and trying to come out of my shell but holy moly, maybe Les Mis wasn't the best choice for my first foray into theater-as-therapy hahahaha.

Pets are funny when they get mixed up in something foul... they want it gone yesterday. When I was a kid, one of our cats came in via the basement window one night and got mixed up in some turpentine that my dad had paint brushes soaking in.
My mom got up with the cat meowing at the basement door and she knew right away what happened. The cat actually let my mom place her in the bath tub and wash her off, it must have burned. Even with a few shampoos, the cat stunk for a week after.

Luna rolled in some poop tonight. It could have been hers, but I'm not sure. Anyway, she came back inside looking very sad and didn't know what to do. I took her outside and wiped off what I could with a towel and water, then took her upstairs to shower. She listened very well, and didn't roll on anything indoors, and she lied right next to me while I started the bath. She got right in, and got under the water, very anxious to get the poop off herself. I washed her thoroughly and dried her off, then she started running around the room, very excited to be clean again. She's happy now. Pobrecita.

I hate you so much right now.
