  1. I've gotten tattooed by Virginia Elwood and Tamara Santibanez (both at Saved). As well as Ashley Love (now at Adorned) and I would highly recommend all of them. Virginia especially is the nicest to sit with and chat. She really has that bed side manner thing down :)

I don't know why but I've gotten more and more drawn to women tattooers as I've gotten older. I think it's just because I'm pretty much drawn to badasses in general. I'd love to get something from Rose Hardy at Three Kings soon.

  2. Oh jeez, I really feel ya on this one! There have been many tears shed between my mother and I about my tattoos. We are finally at a point where we don't talk about them anymore and that only came after one of those mother/daughter fueled arguments (I was 29 years old when this happened btw!!!) where I told her how shitty it made me feel. I think telling her that what she is saying/doing is hurting you so badly will perhaps help put things in perspective. I believe that at the end of the day our moms don't want to hurt us but we have to be diligent about expressing our feelings in order to move past them.

Good luck with your mom! I swear it will get better with time.

  3. WHOA! I lived in Little Falls until I was 7 and then moved to Totowa. I really miss it there. Little Falls is a beautiful town and I have a lot of great memories from there. W

Curious to know where you're getting tattooed at?

  4. Some really nice pin ups in here. What are people's thoughts for the best placement for a pinup tattoo on the upper arm please ? I'm thinking of getting mine placed towards the back of the upper arm, rather than directly on the very outside of the upper arm. They look great on forearms (inside or outside) but unfortunately I can't go there due to work. What's everyones thoughts on next best arm-placement option please :) Thanks !

If the outside of your upper arm is free I would go there and I'm sure your artist will as well. It's a pretty flat and easy to read surface. I have one there and also on the inside of my calves.

  5. I just remembered it's summer and I should give it a good hard thought if I want anything done on my legs this year due to the clothing sticking on tattoo problem. Made the mistake of getting my first leg tattoo in winter and then having to peel the clothing off my skin :( Or maybe I should just invest in some JNCO's and relive my early teen years. I mean, the 90s ARE ALIVE.

  6. I saw a rather heavy lady the other day with (from what I could tell) only her legs tattooed. She had a bunch of really huge pieces done and unfortunately she was across the street so I couldn't even get a better look at them. The only thing I wondered was how come she only got her legs done.

When it comes to what our bodies might look like down the road or if the tattoo is gonna look one way or the other in 20 years or if I'm even going to be alive to care, there are so many "what ifs" that I hardly give it a second thought. I forget what I was watching but I know it was likely some bullshit extreme weight loss show where the "contestant" (for lack of a better word)went for skin removal surgery and they literally cut the tattoo off of her. I'm just sayin' YOU NEVER KNOW.

  7. I have no bag but I have time and interest...I'm gonna see what's available around me!!

Good thread guys. I love being a strong ass beast!!! (And a strong assed one, now that I'm thinking about it).

I just sorta like being fierce and feeling in control of/super in touch with my body. Who knows which is the chicken or the egg in that equation, but it all works out.

That's why I started. Also, my trainer is a woman and I get to work with a bunch of other ladies and it's just (with the risk of sounding cheesy) empowering to kick some ass with them.
