  1. I love how 3 different people are all taking photos of that
  2. damn! that's almost as cool as shark bite shoulder guy
  3. this is on the same kid who I just posted in the Lion Tattoos Thread Thomas Hooper killing it like always
  4. good lord Thomas Hooper... here's a pretty crazy lion (or what I assume to be based off of a lion)
  5. These two lines say it all. He knows the general design you want (or perhaps specific design if you were adamant about certain details) and you should let him create HIS work from it. After all, that is why you picked him right? On a more practical note- abide by whatever you guys discussed when you last talked. I've had artists meet with me a week or two before an appointment to do a consultation, I've had people draw it up the day of, I've had artists say they were going to draw it but got busy and started drawing it when my appointment time was, and I've had artists draw 90% of it before I got there and finalize a few things when I arrive. Hell, I've had the same artist do a variety of those things so really it's however their schedule/desire permits. In all honesty, if you go to the studio unprompted by your artist you probably will not accomplish anything.
  6. Until recently your normal, well regulated member of society tended to not be getting tattooed. As someone who's toured in punk bands and seen a lot of those women that your brother in law grew up around and perhaps had tattoos, I can see why he may not find tattoos on women feminine. Don't get me wrong, I'm dating a tattooed girl and have no problems with it, I'm just stating that a woman in that specific sub-culture that you're referencing is more than likely trashy in her own way. I'm not saying EVERY punk girl is crazy, but to be a part of that scene/historical context there's probably something not "normal" about a person and that woman is likely not your standard mani/pedi dress up barbie girl that most people associate with femininity.
  7. EXACTLY. If any shmuck who could draw tried to tattoo then tattooing would be in a sad state (wait a minute?!.... hahaha)
  8. Didn't you already post this question in another thread? Either way Mario is right.
  9. "To me tattoos have always represented a time in my life. Maybe I'm not the 16 year old who loves the idea of a sun on my hip anymore but I certainly can appreciate the 16 year old girl I was once before." Exactly. I think the permanence is kind of refreshing. We all change but most of us like to sweep our old self under the rug and pretend it didn't happen. It's kind of humbling to have that reminder that "oh shit I was stupid/naive/different" too.
  10. Pokeys Mexican Restaurant is good and super close to Luckys tattoo parlor in SD

  12. fuuuuuuck I wish I wasn't working. this looks awesome
  13. Jake

    i hate my job.

here's a slightly more radical approach that works for certain kinds of people.. sell everything you own. quit that job and live with bare minimum bills trying to stretch the money you have as long as possible. you won't have a choice but to pour yourself into baking in order to get yourself operating at a functional level before that money runs out. some people thrive under this high-pressure sink or swim scenario. whatever you choose to do- good luck!
  14. the indomitable Tim Lehi. Interesting to see an American image of an eagle with the Japanese background
  15. Since we've already got the Tiger Tattoos Thread and the Panther Tattoos Thread, I figured it's about time to round out the big cat trinity with a Lion Tattoos thread. Just came across this nice one by Chris Garver to start it off.
  16. Photo 2 by Chris Garver. Photos 1 and 3 by Tim Lehi.
