  1. I'll start by saying I am a 36 year old technical writer with a degree. I work in an awesome office environment (small group of 9, software co.) and I've had no issues. When I first started I wore long sleeves and pants everyday; eventually the manager told me to 'loosen up' since everyone else wore shorts, tees, and flip flops = ) The sort of work I do doesn't require face time with clients and the only thing customers see of me is my written work, so it's much more behind the scenes. But I have chosen to tattoo concealable spots first (ie, no below elbow, above collar.) To be honest, I like having hidden tattoos.
  2. Great stuff-loved the old skate/ graffiti pics = )
  3. As someone with a tattoo from Cris, I can assure you the guy is super professional and an all-around nice guy. He has a genuine love for the craft and a desire to push further with his art and reference research. I think all of this shows in his work.
  4. That used to be my recipe for life up until about 2 years ago =) Pre: Eat, hydrate, mentally prepare During: Chew gum, drink water of over 1.5 hour, breathe, talk to the artist as the vibe permits, alot of time I zone out and meditate on the pain, trying to be in it vs. detaching ala the lye scene in "Fight Club" After: Big heavy meal, shower after at least 2.5 hours to wash off blood/plasma, apply A&D

  6. This was after the home team WON What's happening in England is terrible and the attitude seems to be prevalent worldwide. I can understand frustration over social justice but flat-out looting and vandalism is just criminal.

  11. So nothing this week? I'm jonesing for a new episode now = )
  12. Father of three - 17 year old boy, and two girls, 5 and 8. Pretty much all of the parents I know/ hang out with are tattooed, but that maybe just a geographic thing. The hardest thing I've run into so far is trying to get my teenager to wait to get his first tattoo in a legit shop. I actually see my tattoos as good teaching devices about rites of passage and culture, as all my tattoos have a deeper significance to me. They definitely make for good conversation starters with with my younger kiddos. As far as other parents/teachers, I haven't run into any real issues with judgment. My heavily-tattooed ex and mother of my daughters is a teacher and the parents love her and my girlfriend is a teacher as well, so moving through those social circles has been rather easy.
  13. *"While watching the excellent Freddy Corbin interview in the blog" Sorry about the spelling-how do you edit first posts?
  14. While watching the excellent Freedy Corbin tattoo in blog, my ears perked up when he started talking about his tattooed nun from Don Ed Hardy. I really like this design concept. My first exposure to it was in old Japanese woodcut prints of tattooed samurai from the Shinpen Suikogaiden I've seen Westernized versions ranging from the Greg Irons Edith Burchett tattoo: to cholo updates like this banger from Nico Acosta at Better Days in Santiago Chile: and this awesome Red Hot from Eric Gregory at Little Vinnie's Tattoos in Baltimore, MD: Anybody else dig this?

  17. So much wisdom in that Ferguson clip- it's about being willing to go to any lengths necessary (like going to a "legit" rehab vs. one of those country club deals). I think when addicts and alcoholics are young, they convince themselves that they have another run left in them, but it's a game of Russian Roulette. Like Ferguson said, the first part is getting sober (and wanting it), the next part is staying sober through putting in the work-spiritual and service-wise. Russell Brand had an awesome blog post about Amy's death-seems pretty swamped right now www.russellbrand.tv/2011/07/for-amy
  18. Found this today and instantly recognized Ft. Mason at 1:05 (where the SFMOMA with the Ed Hardy show is located and where watched fireworks on the 4th). Makes me wish I had remembered my skateboard = )
