  1. Really? Nobody has mentioned Kaleidascope Tattoo yet?

Well aware of the shop but like yourself, I was really only aware of Stevie and as far as I know he doesn't really do portraits? Wasn't too sure about anyone else there and wasn't going to send the man on a wild goose chase haha.

@petepunter I've previously put up a bunch of shops in the "Tattoo Shop" section of the board, so if you click this link Australia | Tattoo Shop Reviews it should be able to point you in the right direction ;)

In Brisbane I'd suggest: Westside: Tim Rix or Malika. Seventh Circle: Loz

Melbourne: My mate Ben has just started coming into his own http://www.facebook.com/blaukis.tattoo and works out of Pure Vision. There's also Marshall at Third Eye who does nice realistic work.

These are just a couple of suggestions and it'll come down to the style you want at the end of the day but have a look through the shops I listed in the first link. I'll ask some friends over the weekend who'd they'd recommend for you in Sydney and see if I can expand my own knowledge as well :)

  2. Would you accept a hammock?

Oh hells yeah, you bet your sweet ass I would!! Haha

@Duffa, Chicago is where Old Route 66 starts. It isn't even an official "Route" anymore, and it's hard to follow in a lot more, but it's still there. You wanna do that, hell, we can getcha a motorsickle and you can do it right!

Haha, not sure if me + motorsickle + foreign country is the best idea... but def not the worst ;) lol. I guess though, if your going to do something do it right!

  3. Hey @petepunter - who did the staffy you posted? Portraits for obvious reasons are a tricky one, and to be honest Sydney (Sin City) is probably the city I'm least familiar with... You got a few options In both Brisbane and Melbourne (and I'm sure everywhere in between) Flights aren't that expensive anymore so would you be willing to travel? I'll put my thinking cap on and see what I can hit you back with...

  4. Thanks to all who have so far offered a couch!! (Or floor space or anything really - I'm not that big so I can fold up to fit most over head compartments lol)

@slayer9019 - damn right you will since your the instigator ;) haha seriously though, much appreciated my good man!!

@CultExciter - I do like me some pretty mountains! So Virginia couch - check (cheers homie!!)

And @Dan S - I hadn't forgotten good ol' Chicago  Am i correct in saying that it's the start or finish to the iconic route 66? Hells yeah I'm hiring a car and going on a road trip haha done and done ;) And once again, cheers for the possible hospitality!!

  5. @slayer9019 - you know homie, I like the way you think ;) In all honesty, I have dreamed about a trip to the states forever. Would love to go cross country from NY to LA (or the other way) and make sure its around the time of the SFO convention. I'd have to really, really figure out who I want something from with what space I have left to work with (backs clean but spoken for lol)... so who'd have a couch for me on this magical mystery tour? haha
  6. As promised here are (finally) some shots of what I got from Matt Cunnington Westside Tattoo - Professional Services - Brisbane, QLD | Facebook about a month ago. I apologise for the crappy pics, but its a hard spot to take your own photos of. And the pics are off a phone so be nice lol.

I missed out on the Flash day that they had and rang in on the right day at the right time and bypassed a long ass waiting list. Matt came in on his day off because he really wanted to do it and ended up completely redrawing the design fresh to fit my leg and add some ground to it. It was a really amazing experience and Matt is a gentleman and a scholar. I wish these photos did the tattoo justice so I'll upload better ones when I can (there's about 4 or 5 shades in the pattern on the little guys back)

  7. I think that it is a pretty reasonable request. I am in the process of explaining to my wife why I want to send a few bucks to a guy I have never met for his birthday. You will know who wears the pants in my family when you receive a gift card with my name on it or when you do not receive a gift card with my name on it. Right now its not looking to good for you, but we just sat down to have a couple of drinks so your chances should get better.

Wish me luck, and Happy Birthday.

This had my gut piece in hysterics! Especially, Right now its not looking to good for you, but we just sat down to have a couple of drinks so your chances should get better. Let us know how you go Avery as I have a feeling the same issues may apply to me - the being in a different country thing, not your wife :p
