  1. I knew I wanted my arms covered from the beginning, I kept filling spaces on my right arm since I was toying with the idea of something more cohesive on the left (still undecided on that, really like the piecemeal look but there's definitely something to be said about a whole sleeve). I was apprehensive about going below the elbow at first but I knew it would be done eventually, plus a tshirt wouldn't fully cover anything on my bicep anyways, so I just said fuck it and kept going. The lowest point is about an inch away from my hand now and it's all coming together quite nicely, I got some shirts for work with extra long sleeves and go on my merry way. I know it can feel like a huge step to go beyond the elbow but it's a hurdle I'm glad I came over, maybe I jumped in a little sooner than I should have but it felt right and I'm glad I did it.
  2. Sometimes, even years later, tattoos will react to weather and other factors, raising up and getting itchy. I couldn't really tell you what it was you scratched off but you could maybe take some antihistamines to help deal with the itch. - - - Updated - - - Sometimes, even years later, tattoos will react to weather and other factors, raising up and getting itchy. 3. Nothing new on the radar as of now, gotta start looking into flights to Austin to continue working on my front in the next month or two. Might fill some weird gaps in the interim, Greg Christian told me he'd be in CO sometime by the end of the year, hopefully its at a time I have some extra dough.
  4. @polliwog the rose of no mans land that pops up right before it is pretty great too
  5. @Baroni88 it depends on who your tattooer is, depending on the size a rad lion head could take anywhere between an hour and five, or maybe more when you factor in any number of variables.

    Hello

Welcome to LST, your backpiece is rad
  7. Just to add to the discussion of "it's different for everyone;" before we started my torso, Chad told me my belly would be the worst spot, so he'd work his way down there. When we took a little break to pour more ink and spin me around for the other side, Joe was looking sympathetic and says "that head must've been rough, I remember getting tattooed in that spot." So, there's two tattooers and all the anecdotal information I've read on here saying I should have been miserable when my belly was being lined, but I had a much harder time with my chest and shoulders. Granted, the whole thing was rough, wish I could have slept better the night before.
  8. Thanks everybody, I am indeed stoked! Definitely a lot more taxing than all the one shots I've been getting on my arm. @mtlsam that's gotta be pretty close to the time-frame, I wasn't really watching the clock but I'm sure it was less than 2 hours after he finished drawing it on.
  9. Started this little guy with Chad today at Lifetime Tattoo in Denver pic stolen from his instagram
  10. @elcapitanosparros everybody seems to heal differently and what works for some doesn't always work for others. If you're new to getting tattooed you should do your best to following your tattooers advice down to the letter, as you go on you can figure out the best method for you.
  11. Interesting, @CABS... I'll find out about that first one soon enough, last decent sized space open on my right
  12. Congrats @polliwog really great tattoo, I was actually showing it to my friend on insta the other day as a perfect example of an eagle
  13. It really depends on the tattooer, sometimes to even get an appointment you have to do a consult beforehand, others work better with it rolled up into one. I've had consults a month before the appointment where we talked about each little thing, went over reference and got everything ironed out, and I've had appointments with guest artists, or when I was travelling where I just walked in, showed them the place and bounced a couple ideas around. Different people work differently, so I think it's best to let them do their thing. If you've already sent a deposit and some references with an idea of what you want you should be good, if you have a specific idea in your head of what you want it to look like maybe you can reach out to them to get that idea across, but if you chose your tattooer specifically for their style then I'm sure you'll be happy with what they come up with.
  14. @SeeSea I (kinda) know the feeling, though I don't exclusively get tattooed at night, I usually get tattooed down in Denver which is a bit more than an hour drive through the mountains, coming home can be pretty full of tourists looking more at the hills than the road and all sorts of fun speed trap shenanigans. What I need to do is start consciously making appointments during the week so there's less weekend warrior types on the road, but I hate fighting for days off and I usually get Friday anyways so it is what it is.

    Howdy

Welcome to LST! If I was in Texas and wanted that fixed I'd have Steve Byrne (Rock of Ages, Austin) throw a big eagle right on top of it, for the most part it seems light enough to cover
  16. Welcome to LST, if you let us know where you live I'm sure someone could recommend an awesome tattooer who will exceed your expectations
  17. I've been using the rewrap method on the last 4 tattoos I've gotten and it works really well for me. Any rewrap advocates have advice for bigger pieces? I'm starting my chest/torso soon and I wonder if taping a big swath of saran wrap across my front will be as effective as wrapping around a section of my arm.
  18. Welcome to LST! Where in Michigan are you getting tattooed? Last time I visited the mitten I went out to Name Brand in Ann Arbor and got a tattoo from Jeff Zuck, really cool shop, and a great guy to boot!
  19. Welcome to LST, got any tattoos?
  20. I just recieved a big ol box full of prints from Ian Bederman, @wonkytiger on instagram, he has a lot of cool stuff, not sure how many of this anatomy series are left but I thought it was a really good deal. Here is a terrible photo I took trying to get everything in the frame:
