  1. Oh and i almost forgot, what is the price of tobacco like out there? Specifically pouches of golden virginia (is it even available in Norway?!)

I don't smoke but my brother and father always insist on loading me up like a god damn drug mule every time i go abroad, so if i don't find out prices i may be excommunicated from the family

I don't smoke either, but @Iwar recently told me that tobacco prices are pretty crazy there (as compared to the US).

  2. Got this from Theo Mindell while he was visiting Austin for a few days. The guy might be the straight up nicest dude I've met in a long time. And Paco Cendon at electric13 was super nice too and has an awesome shop. I very much underestimated the pain on the back of the thigh, just above the ditch of my knee. It's 3 days later and I'm still limping around.

Theo is a very awesome dude on top of being a great, great tattooer. He's fast, too, which is nice for areas like that one. I knew that was a Mindell girl before I even read your post.

  3. @Lance: the bonji on my wrist are the mantra for Amida Nyorai, since I was born in the year of the pig (or Hogg, if you will). I knew it was the mantra, but I didn't learn the meaning until recently, thanks to some research by Professor @taaarro (thanks again!).

I looked on the link that @ironchef posted above and found this: Akasagarbha - mantras and seed syllables, including the Morning Star Mantra It's the bonji mantra for Kokuzo Bosatsu, aka Ākāśagarbha. That would look great around your wrist. You could also get juzu beads with your seed bonji in the middle, like this excellent tattoo by Ichi Hatano:

(Aren't those on the woman we talked to at his booth at the convention?)

You could get the Fudo Myo-o bonji in a bead on the other wrist just because Fudo is awesome.

  4. Brad's Japanese work looks pretty good. I bet he'd try to talk you out of a geometric dragon. I would if I were him. Dragon tattoos are very awesome--I have four--but that's not the best way to render them. That one has none of the power and fluidity of a traditional American dragon or a Japanese dragon. But that's just me. Good luck.

  5. Major tattoo envy going on here. I knew those peonies were on guys here when I saw them on Instagram. And that damn Fudo Monmon Cat is on @ivarro isn't it?

Sure is. I drove him to State of Grace to get it. And it looks even better in person.

Your back looks amazing, @Graeme. I loooove the background. Tell me: how did you enjoy those asscrack waves? Were you aware that you could clench that hard?

  6. I had a fantastic experience at Diamond Club last night with one of my favorite tattooers, Brian Kaneko (truenaturetattoo on Instagram). I got this peony:

Shad, Junii, and Dr. Claw were there, too, which made it even more fun. But the best part is that @Iwar wanted to get something from Brian, but couldn't get an appointment. He asked if he could show up during mine, and I said, "Of course!" He walked in right after I got there, so I introduced him to Brian and Shad. They all started laughing, then Brian said, "By the way, I tattooed him earlier today. I had a cancellation." So now Iwar and I are not only banhammer bros, but we're botan brothers, too.
