Hogrider got a reaction from GarethJ98 in Japanese font in tattoo design
I don't have any idea what font to use, but my suggestion would be to skip the font all together. Thin lines on thin skin can be prone to blowouts and you're looking at your wrist and elbow ditch - not a great place for that. If you absolutely must have the font, I'd ask your artist to find something - he's the one that will have to make it work.

Go away. We have actual tattoos here, not play pretend tattoos. FFS. Talk about the wrong audience. 😆

Please stop advertising your shitty tattoo stickers. NOBODY here wants them. This is a forum for tattoo enthusiasts, not posers.

shading is easier than lining IMO, especially if it's done in 2 sittings

Yes, that's not abnormal for work that's less than 4-6 weeks.

It takes 4-6 weeks to heal, it's really best to wait until then. It will likely lighten as it heals.

Hogrider got a reaction from oboogie in How to design a tat?
Drawing a good tattoo is not the same as drawing a picture on a flat piece of paper. Why do you think that a tattoo artist would be unable to understand you and get frustrated, but you could find someone other than a tattoo artist that would be able to do it? Sorry, but that doesn't make sense. Tattoo artists are used to people describing what they want. Find a good artist and work with them. You're going to wear this forever, don't worry about cost. It will cost far more to have it lasered off if you don't get what you want.

Hey, new poster here. After years of planning (and saving!) I finally started my back piece this week, with Nick Mayes at North Sea Tattoo in Scarborough, UK. I asked for 'the Kraken thrashing around in the sea while a flying saucer tries to beam it up'. The design did not disappoint!
As for the session itself, even at a relatively short 2 1/2 hours of actual tattooing, it was pretty tough. As others have said, your body doesn't get used to the pain like it does on a smaller piece. The needle is always on the move to somewhere fresh and so every line feels like the first. I'd say most of the back was an 8/10 pain, with one or two areas only a 7, but a couple were a good 9.5, namely the love handles, lower back and butt crack (that one is like some whole new type of pain!) We will be doing 2-3 hour sessions every month or so, which should keep progress moving well. As for now, I'll leave you with what we've done so far, and will keep you updated. It's an honour to join this legendary thread!

Started my fudo backpiece today! Pain level was different from other areas I’ve had done. Not necessarily worse, but because it varies so greatly over different areas of the back, that makes it hard to get into a rhythm and settle in. Besides that, looking forward to getting cracking on this thing in the coming months!

Call your local police department. They are the only ones who know if they will pursue your complaint.

Yep, healing is 4-6 weeks and it'll be months before the ink fully settles in and the blacks aren't quite so dark and bold. Everything will tone down a bit.

There's always going to be someone to find something wrong with your tattoo. If you like it, get it and don't worry about what other people think it means.
A lot of that "my tattoo means ..." comes from reality TV. Most of the people I know, myself included, got their tattoos because they liked the image, not because it had some special meaning. I've got most of my body suit completed and I don't have a single thing that has special meaning to me other than I like the imagery.

You need to talk to an artist who specializes in coverups. We are mostly collectors here. It will have to be large and a lot of black to cover that up. A black panther maybe? 😉
