Hogrider
I'm not sure how anything is worse than a bad artist, but with all of the tattoo shops out there, I don't now why anyone would tolerate either. If you can't find a good artist in a good shop, you're not looking very hard. oboogie, Blue Tattoo and Hands On
SStu
Good artist is paramount. Once your tattoo is done the shop will only be a memory. Simong, slayer9019, Blue Tattoo and 1 other

Simong
I think the artist is the main priority. The shop is irrelevant really as long as it’s functional and safe. The artist is what will make or break the tattoo. Blue Tattoo and Dan
tritattoo
Both scenarios are not ideal, but generally speaking, a great tattoo shop with a bad artist is worse than a bad tattoo shop with a great artist. A great tattoo shop with a bad artist can give you a false sense of security, leading you to believe that you're in good hands. However, the end result could be a poorly executed tattoo that you'll have to live with for the rest of your life. Additionally, a reputable tattoo shop with a bad artist may still charge premium prices, leaving you with a high bill for a subpar tattoo. On the other hand, a bad tattoo shop with a great artist may not have the best equipment or environment, but a skilled artist can still produce quality work. You may have to do more research and take extra precautions to ensure the shop is clean and safe, but at least you'll know that you're getting a good tattoo. Ultimately, it's important to do your research and choose a tattoo shop and artist that you feel confident in, regardless of whether they have a fancy storefront or not. Hogrider
13 hours ago, Awake Surf Collective said: The reputation of the tattoo shop is often based on the work of its artists. Even if the shop is great, a bad artist can damage the shop's overall reputation and potentially harm business. A great tattoo shop will likely have higher standards for the quality of work that its artists produce. A bad artist might not meet those standards, which can reflect poorly on the shop and potentially harm future business. A bad tattoo is a permanent mark on the body. Even if it's done in a great shop, a bad artist's work can lead to dissatisfaction, regret, and potentially costly removal or cover-up procedures.
