  1. I don't have anything new to add because you've been given some great advice so far. I just want to say it's awesome that you're considering putting Pharaoh's Horses on your chest. That's an awesome move for a man or a woman, imo.
  2. I sometimes say (half-jokingly) that I'm a "Tattoo Enthusiast". Sort of like some motorcycle gangs will say on the record that they're not a gang, they're motorcycle enthusiasts.
  3. Just returned from Scotland. Here's what I got on Tuesday from Joe Ellis (his IG pic):
  4. Next week I will be getting a Rock of Ages on my arm done by Joe Ellis. My wife and I are headed over to Scotland on vacation and I will be stopping in at Lab Monkey Tattoo in Stirling next Tuesday. I think I posted about this in this thread a while ago but I'm leaving in 2 hours so I'm pretty excited. Might not be able to use internet and make posts until I get back but I will get pics up as quick as I can!
  5. The Super Mario games are the best ever! I get to play some of them pretty regularly with my 4 year old on our Wii. For advice on your first tattoos: look at lots and lots of good tattoos (this is a good place to do that!) and then start researching artists. Welcome to forum!
  6. He's 19, so he's old enough now. I think in Ontario you can be 16 with parental permission anyway. Note that I'm not a Bieber fan or anything; we Canadians are required by law to learn about him. I actually don't dislike the tiger on his upper arm.

    Book thread

I can't stop reading this right now. Re-reading, actually, since I read them about 7ish years ago but it seems I've forgotten just about everything past the first book. I'm about halfway into A Storm of Swords. I find it difficult to get myself to read fiction, but once I'm done this series I will check out the other authors you have listed there.
  8. Have him check out Battle Born Tattoo in Vegas. It's owned by Jon Mirro who also owns Hand of Doom in Buffalo, where I got my first tattoo. Actually while I was getting my tattoo we were talking about his purchasing and renovating the place. Looks like they do good work there.
  9. The stomach is (imo) the best place to get Pharaoh's Horses, but the back is a close second. I think if you go mid/lower back with it, it will be fine but you'll need to have a plan for the upper back that ties in with it somewhat. It's my favorite tattoo image, eventually it will adorn my stomach (I want to get more tattoos first, and also get in a bit better shape). I add all my favorites to my Pharaoh's Horses tumblr, check it out if you still want to look at more horse tattoos :)
  10. I saw the postgame conference where he said he would get one. He ended up getting something along the lines of what I expected he would, but I wonder why he chose such a weird location? The same thing done high on his shoulder would have been just as concealable. I would have liked to see a cool tattoo of a cardinal instead of just the big 'L' .
  11. Ages? You use this word, I do not think it means what you think it means. Or someone redefined 'ages' as three weeks without informing me... :)
  12. Hello my fellow Canadian! Welcome to the forum.
  13. Is there ever a week you don't pop in to the Pearl? :) Great tattoos! I love the clasping hands image as well; eventually I plan to get it in that location too. Just out of curiosity, how many walk-ins were lined up by the time the shop opened? And isn't Sunday Glennie's walk-in day and Dan's tomorrow?
  14. ^This. As a result, I would speculate that the least expensive* way to get your tiny olive colored would be to go back and get another tattoo and have your artist just put some color in it then. *Yeah, that will be even more money out of your pocket than the quote you just got - but hey, a new tattoo!
  15. If you "go advanced" for your reply you can add a photo as an attachment directly from your computer.

    Hello there

Hi Justin, welcome to the forum!
  17. For me, it would be: Never - Face or Head Extremely unlikely - Hands Even less likely - Neck
  18. That would put the scriptural idea of Jesus being the groom and his church being His bride in a whole different light.
  19. This is why a winner isn't declared after the first three days. Great tattoo!
  20. Will do for sure. The other day was my first trip to Kensington market and looks pretty awesome even on a freezing cold spring day.
  21. Thanks for this! On the drive home Tuesday I was thinking about how I'd need to ask you what a good place to eat would be the next time I went to the Pearl. Then @Graeme makes this excellent thread and totally saved me from remembering to do that!

    Sparrow and Rose

by Tim Pausinger at The Pearl Harbor Gift Shop - Toronto, ON
  23. While most of my body is still empty space, this particular empty space was bothering me the most... Drove up to Toronto yesterday and had this sparrow/rose done by Tim Pausinger. It was my first time at that The Pearl Harbor Gift Shop - what an amazing place! All three of my tattoo experiences have been great but The Pearl was on another level (maybe due in part to me being more experienced at getting tattoos also) of cool. Definitely now going to be my default recommendation to anyone who asks me where they should get tattooed. If they don't want to drive an hour and a half then they just don't want it enough ;) edit: Just wanted to add that this was my first tattoo since joining LST and my first chance to post in this thread. Looking forward to many more.
  24. You can always ask your questions right here in your intro thread! No need to rush to ten posts. I got my first tattoo last year at 34 and also had wanted one for a long time. Just got my third tattoo today. Fire away on the "newbie q's" :)
