I'd been thinking about getting a compass tattoo for a while and took the opportunity
to do so last week, the day after I arrived back in Buffalo/Niagara Falls, NY to visit
family and friends. Done by Chuck, who owns Faith in Ink tattoo shop n the
very arty Allentown district in Buffalo. Great guy and he really bent over backwards
to help me find a time we could meet for the ink session.

Funny...this was a 5X year anniversary of my class's high school graduation. No organized
reunion but I met some old high school friends for pizza & beer. At one point, my buddy
Steve suggested that I deserved an award for being the person with the most tattoos.
I asked how many others had one or some. None did.
    So yeah, I win.

Chris Garver did this punk rock girl on my calf today. He's a seriously nice guy and a total pleasure to be tattooed by. I'm absolutely thrilled with the result. Loving the Docs!

This is a portrait of my pops that I had done last week by Juan Arreguin (El Super) in his shop Superfly Tattoo here in Leon Guanajuato Mexico. If any of you are from Vancouver, you might recognize the name because he used to work at Rain City.
August 12th is my fathers birthday, and the National Airborne Day is August 16th. Figured this would be a good way to honor him.

@David Flores Hear hear! What I don't understand is why everyone has to have their own damn shop. Why not go work for the qualified people already in town? Aside from how much more a tattooer could learn with that opportunity, running a shop is stupid hard work and a ton of responsibility. I honestly cannot imagine wanting to open a shop any time before my 15 years. Perhaps too many people in tattooing for the wrong reasons...

I don't tattoo but I'm going to give my opinion on things that I know very little about because it's the Internet and I have a right to make my voice heard, damnit!

If I have a light spot in the black or want some white or other color freshened up, I'll do that at the end of a regular session. It only adds a 1/2 hour to the bill and all the stuff is out anyway.

I think it depends on your level of satisfaction with the piece on a personal level and how you want your tattoos to look as they age. I think pointless perfectionism comes into play when people get a bunch of touch-ups to try and attain "the perfect tattoo," when no such thing exists.

I think generally most people don't come back for touch-ups. The shop I work in, I don't see that very often.
Only if people clearly haven't been taking care of it. Or those assholes that are addicted to tanning................

    Hello!
My Name is Bethany, I'm 22. I've lived in Irving, Tx like my whole live. I'm a single mom of a beautiful little ginger names Alice. I'm completely obsessed with Harry Potter and Bioshock!---I'm a Trekie.---LOVE horror and sci-fi. Freddy Kruger is the bomb! And love to read and love music. My favorite books include The Harry Potter series, 1984, Enders Game, The Uglies series, Animal Farm, The Count of Monte Cristo.
My favorite music varies from Rob Zombie (playing at Mayhem this sunday!! woot!) to the Beatles and The Band Perry.
I'm for some reason creepily interested in serial killers....and....Hitler....and the Occult and other wired dark things. Especially the plague....And other diseases and science. Like Eugenics. That shit's cool.
I am not racist....or want to or have an urge to kill people but i think that people that do are interesting.
I only have 2 tattoos right now. they're very simple. I'm wanting much much more but funds are tight and unlike other enthusiasts I'm not gonna live in my car so that i can have bad ass tattoos. Not that that's a problem. To each his own man! I want a phoenix on my back and an Alice in Wonderland sleeve type piece. Not really a sleeve but like across the shoulder to maybe top-mid top bicep. They will go with the 2 I already have. I want a Bioshock piece currently of the bunny mask with the Quote "I want to take the ears off!" Bc Sander Cohen is freaking boss! But when I'm done reading Rapture (the book that was written as a prequel to the video game) that might change my mind to something else.
ummm if you want you can add me on facebook.......I just get on there to look at picture i don't really post stuff. My profile picture is the Star Trek equal rights symbol. Bc I love the gays! And its a running joke between me and my friends that i was a gay man in a past life.

I'm Stephanie, i'm 27 years old and i'm a single mom. I was born in Alaska, but raised in Utah while spending all of my summers either in Washington State or Montana visiting family. I went to school in Canada and now i'm working on moving to Chile. I got my first tattoo when I was 18 (it'll be 9 years on August 4th). I enjoy reading, writing, traveling, learning languages and new cultures. I'm the odd one out on both sides of my family and now including my sister in laws family due to being single, having tattoo's and a child out of wedlock so because of all of that when family get together's happen i'm either by myself or I stay home with my daughter, but I don't mind :D.

    Hi all.
Pretty sure you can guess my name, but just in case.......
I am Dave, currently in Nottingham UK.
Signed up here ages ago, but for some reason never got around to posting.
Got my first tattoo over 20 years ago (rubbish), then started getting ink again around 3 - 4 years ago.
Have got work from Gray Silva and Rachael Huntington both @ Rampant Ink Nottingham, Yayzus @ Voodoo Boston Lincolnshire, Mark Boyle @ Nothing Sacred tattoo Stockton-on-Tees and my most recent piece by Ben "Mr. Benjamin" Stone @ Lifetime Derby.
Always on the lookout for new artists to add to my collection as time and $$$ allows.
Hope to contribute instead of lurking now.
    Cheers.

donbcivil reacted to Beth in Religious tattoos...on the non-religious
I'm ganna jump in this. I've had the same thought several times. I was raised a very devout Baptist and over the years I've back slid and aren't as "close to God" as i could be but after years of struggling with religious understanding, I came to believe that WHO/WHAT ever you believe in the good are rewarded with peace in the after life and the bad are not. Or nothing happens and in that case nothing we do matters any way. BUUUT to bring this back around away from my religious believes....ART is ART. Over the years sacred things become not so sacred. Its like that episode of South Park where Family Guy wants to show Mohammed and everyone freaks out. Everything is fair game or nothing is. And if getting Jesus or Buddha tattooed bc their pretty and represent peace and love and kindness then fine just don't act like it makes you better then everyone else......especially if you don't know anything about them but what everyone else does.

Symbols and iconic images that are used and taken from history are always going to be used with a good or bad type of stigma. Its like the swastika. Most people know or are aware that it is originally a peace symbol. But thanks to Hitler it was used for manipulation like all religion is used in the end. But if I get a swastika tattoo I'm going to be seen as a racist Nazi even if its the correct version of the peace symbol. and not the straight one the Germans used.
