I (randomly) ended up looking at some Yelp tattoo reviews of a studio this morning - it just popped up in my search results and I read them.
Amazing how many reviews involved people saying they had a 'bad' or at least 'less than ideal' experience because they didn't "connect" with their tattooer. One even commented that if she was going to have to spend 3-4 hours with them then it was important to her that she be able to relate to them as a person. A couple make reference only to the 'personality free zone' that was their tattooer.
It makes me think of someone rejecting their architect on the basis of their personality (not necessarily their customer service). "Hmm, the plans look great and it's got all the features incorporated I asked for... But Tom is just a personality-free zone in our meetings, and I can't identify with him on a deep enough emotional level."

I think personality/attitude is very important. I will take a less than perfect tattoo from a great person before I take a world-class tattoo from an asshole. Anyway though, I think their personality shows in their work to the extent that I wouldn't be attracted to an assholes artwork...at least I don't think.
Short answer -- personality is very important to me. The experience and memory of the moment is going to outlive the crispnesss and vibrance of the tattoo, I think...

I've seen the aftermath of a F5 in 1987. Shopping malls cleaned right down to the concrete slabs. How anyone can live there is beyond me. I'd have to sleep in the basement or storm shelter. It could have been much worse from the reports of the width and wind speeds.

I'm in Texas right now but my family and home are in Oklahoma - all of my people are well and accounted for, but it wasn't until late, late in the night last night that I knew for sure.
There are a few other Okies here... I hope they were all as fortunate as I was.

Ok, I'll play, though it is a tough month on this thread once again with lots of superb entries already.
My sleeve has recently been finished and has nearly healed, the work was done by Mo Copoletta at The Family Business in London, it took seven three hour sessions which between December and May. I have already posted a few in progress shots but this is the finished product.

Just for the heck of it, I'll throw in my right arm 3/4 sleeve done a couple of years ago by Henning Jorgensen when he was guest tattooing at Kings Avenue Tattoo (both the Manhattan and Long Island shops). This picture was actually compiled by Henning and shared with me. Enjoy!

A friend of mine once said, "If a chick is hot, her tattoos don't have to be good." I used to agree him, but I don't so much these days. Hot chick + great tattoos = infinitely hotter.

At the shop I work out in Hollywood, Chris Brown and Rihanna came in (before he kicked her ass) and they both had some pretty ridiculous tattoos on them (some of which were done at our shop). On his upper arm, there was a Jesus in the clouds with ninjas popping out of all the clouds around it. I asked what was up with the ninjas, and he said they were to protect Jesus. I'm Jewish, so I don't know all that much about Jesus I guess, but I'm pretty sure homeboy doesn't ninjas to protect him when the shit hits the fan.

She may technically be a "consenting adult", but at 18, 19, 22, whatever, getting your face covered with the name of some scumdum who has already disfigured AT LEAST one other Woman is just not too bright.
And why do I get the feeling that the very people who defend this shit would be the first to say how terrible it is when a scooter-Lady gets a "Property of ---" tattoo?!?!?!?!?
What can I say...if I was that girls' daddy, I'd blow the tattoer's head off.

Seems like they wanted attention and got it. They are not hurting anyone, and she's a consenting adult...so whatever, what's done is done. She couldn't move it to her stomach because apparently she's planning a bio-mech bodysuit. If she regrets it, she'll have to deal w/that. Do I personally think it's a bad idea, yeah, and seems a bit too possessive for my taste-the marking of "property" aspect of it, but then a lot of people (plainskins) think my tattoos were a bad idea, too, and they are wrong!

I read the article before commenting, and the first thing that struck me was if they are so much "in love", maybe the hot ticket would be to wait, oh, I dunno, maybe three or four months before tattooing shit all over her face? I think the guy is lame, and would bet money he moves on right quick, now that he's made his mark, as it were.
Just cause it's new and different doesn't mean it should be done.
And FWIW, I was an 13 y.o. with a pierced (left) ear and tattoos in 1967, and an 18 y.o. with a pierced nipple and even more tattoos in 1972. Believe me, things were WAY different back then.

I don't know, when the article starts with "About a month ago, Rouslan Toumaniantz, a well known and sometimes notorious Belgium-based tattoo artist (of Tattoo Box in Kortrijk), and Lesya, a designer living at the time in Saransk, a city in central Russia started talking via chat (Rouslan speaks fluent Russian) and realized they had a lot in common, and quickly began falling head over heels in love" and then the next step is the dude tattooing his name on her face, I think they should both be called out and made fun of, because that is some bullshit right there.
