  1. This one is not about me but my daughter. She is doing a study abroad thing in Japan and had been talking about getting a tattoo when she got back. I was talking to her about it a couple of weeks ago and mentioned that she is in fucking Japan and she might thing about getting it while she is there. I looked at the recommended shops on here and sent one to her, it happened to be pretty close to her school so she started sending emails to them. I thought she was just going in for a consult last night but she ended up getting the tattoo, it was something pretty simple that she drew herself. This was her first tattoo and I have to thank Last Sparrow for helping to make it such a positive experience. My daughter and Gangi The tattoo
  2. Oh yeah, she wanted a kanji for her first tattoo. She did really well for her first tattoo. Did not take long at all.
  3. Howdy, been a way for a while but my daughter's girlfriend, who lives in a tiny town in eastern Indiana, decided she wanted her first tattoo. I helped her scope out her area and there was no one worthwhile there so I went and gave her a ride so she could see Jereme who did the mushrooms on my leg. I decided I like the mushrooms so much I'm just going to give him that leg so we started talking about what to do next. I said I was thinking of something along the lines of a red winged blackbird perched on a fence post. Both him and the guy that owns the shop started nodding and thinking that would work out well, then the conversation went like this: Jereme: That would be pretty bad ass, but you know what would be better? Me: What? Jereme: A red winged blackbird perched on a skull. Me: Oh fuck yeah, that would be good. Jereme: Yeah Me: And you know what would be even more bad ass than that? Jereme: No, what? Me: A blackbird, perched on a skull, with a fuckin dagger through the whole thing. Jereme: Fuck yeah, now you're takin'. So there ya go, the next tat. Now I just have to gather up some cash.
  4. Here is a healed up pic of the mushrooms. I think they healed up pretty well.
  5. Not sure how it is that I haven't shared this one here yet. It is Wicked Ass
  6. Holy Crap. But I could see how someone could see that as making it more hardcore.
  7. So I got some color put in around the TARDIS, bad pick from that night below, on Friday. He is an old school biker friend in a shop in Colorado and he just tapes some paper towel over his work and says to clean it up after a couple of hours. It works, but they do get pretty flakey for a while. So, got the tattoo on Friday and on Monday everything is still nice and smooth and then I go see DRI on Monday night. It was like an old time punk rock show. It was in a tiny warehouse space in an industrial area on the south side of Indy. Just a big garage door open to the outside and it was about 85 and very humid outside. Inside it was unbelievably hot and humid. I thought I might sweat all the pigment out. ;-) The next day the tattoo is crusty as, I put Eucerin on it and it just soaks it up and gets all crusty again. Still looks good so perhaps all the heat and sweat just punched the process into overdrive. Not bitching, no infections and no pain (other than the pain of being next to the stage for DRI when you are 43) just talking about the process. Here is a shot I took the night I was tattooed, I will get a better one when it is healed up.
  8. So I have put on a bit of weight over the last couple of years, started aout 4 months after I did the Tough Mudder, and my most recent blood work came back with everything in the really not good zones. So I'm really starting to try to change diet and everything around and my wife has been working to encourage this. To this end she hit me with a great incentive. If I can trim down to a washboard stomach and keep it for a while she won't complain and I can go get a giant chest piece wherever I want. So, all y'all out in SF be prepared for me to be out there in about a year when I'm all trim and booked with Scott Sylvia.
  9. That's the shit right there!!! - - - Updated - - - I used to work in a university mail room. I would talk to the work study kids and they would be all "yeah man, I like punk rock". So I'd tell them I had something for them to check out and toss them a CRASS disk. All of them would come back and be like "what the fuck was that?". that, I would tell them, is punk rock. Then they would tell me they were more into stuff like the chili peppers, that was their punk rock.
  10. My 19 year old daughter and I are going to see DRI tonight.
  11. I have read that somewhere before, not sure if it was here or not. Personally I hold no illusions of my ability to be an artist, but I do really like tattoos.
  12. Speaking of The Doctor, I was out in Denver working this week so we finished up the time vortex around the TARDIS. Went with a red/orange/yellow palate because the blue/purple one would have made it all look like a blue blob on my arm. I only have one really crappy pic from the hotel I sent my wife. I hope to have one worth posting after I get all the way home.
  13. Dog Bite On my leg Not right supposed to beg
  14. Could also do an ascii art tattoo, but I bet that would be a real pain in the ass for that tattooer.
  15. Mine doesn't really itch bad but I am leaving little flecks of colored DNA everywhere today.
  16. I have to go to Colorado in a month for work. Time to finish up the color in the time vortex around the TARDIS and call that sucker done.
  17. So we got finished on my leg at about 5 PM yesterday and my guy wrapped it in plastic and had me leave it wrapped until I went to take a shower before work in the morning, about 17 hours. It has not oozed or seeped anything all day. He said to start putting lotion on it in about 5 days or so after it had crusted over. I think I like this routine. I think I had always over gooped in the healing process.
  18. Yes, very happy if not a bit sore. there are some tender parts to the leg.
  19. So this was my afternoon. Morel mushroom tattoo by Jereme Galloway at Time and Tide in Bloomington Indiana

  21. Tattoo Day!!!! Just a little over 6 hours to go. Pretty excited to see what he has come up with.
  22. @MadeIndelible Awesome to hear you are doing something about that problem. Remember that many of us here have gone through similar struggles and have come out the other side all the better for the experience. There was a lot that i missed out on while wallowing in my addictions but I would not really change any of it because, as hard as it was to come out of, that is what made me who I am and gave me the perspective I have. I also learned a lot about humility, pride, and how to ask others for help and none of that was easy or came naturally to me. It does get better if you stick with it. One of the awesome things I did recently was to go to a live performance of Welcome To Nightvale with my wife and daughter (15). That was a lot of fun.
  23. Woo Hoo, rescheduled for the 22nd, one week from today.
