Very much agree with the above posters. I am not sure I feel comfortable judging a 63 year old man's decision to get a tattoo and/or the placement. Right or wrong, let him enjoy his life and body art. Good luck to the both of you.

This confuses me, why only go to cheap shop for a wrist script? Imagine getting something from say Katie Sellergren. Right off the bat he would have an awesome tattoo that's well written. Sure script on the wrist isn't the best tattoo placement and size wise, but he's 63... even if his wife gets angry so what.

Man, he's 63 and you're talking about him like he's a teenager. Make sure he doesn't get it upside down.

I must agree wholeheartedly. The longest I've sat was 4 hours for the backs of my arms by Juan Puente. That was about 10 years ago. I've slowly gotten less and less tolerant over the years, but also, the majority of tattoos I've gotten are done in 3 hours or less. Now Scott Sylvia is working on my back and I keep teasing him that we are going to finish it 15 mins at a time. Truthfully I can only hang for about 2, maybe 2.5 hours tops these days. I used to love getting tattooed, now I fucking hate getting tattooed, but I still love having them so I suck it up.

This one's for artists and collectors alike. What's the longest you've ever sat for a tattoo and (for artists) the longest you've ever worked on a client?
I've had several 5-hour sessions, which is kinda pushing it, but once, I sat for 9 hours. Without a break. Overnight. File under never again. The worst part is that I didn't really plan for a long session--it just ended up taking forever.
I'm sure some of you have some crazy stories, possibly involving Shige, Filip Leu, and/or Chris Trevino. :)
For the record, the last 4 tattoos I got took under 3 hours, combined. Much more fun!

My biggest pet peeve is tattooers with multiple apprentices who never apprenticed themselves.

I have become a big fan of Kore Flatmo, funny enough after seeing his interview here. I really enjoy the tattoos he does, I feel like they are representative of him, have a huge impact, and still manage to look like tattoos. Uh Oh I might be falling for Kore Flatmo, you heard it first here folks.

Currently, these are my crushes/heroes. From the bold and bright effortless look of Steve and Eli, to the brilliant underrated style of Daniel. They get me stoked to get tattooed.

Yeah I'm going with mike as well. Got one and wish I could have gotten itten times as big and on the front of my thigh so I could have watched him tattooing it more.
