  1. Rhiannon was playing last night while I was being tattooed and I remembered your intro. I like your tattoo. The multi-blue shades give a black & grey feel with added dimension. Hopefully they will hold up well. If this link works, it is the tattoo Sarah Hurst did last night. Concentration of people on earth. Thru the ether from my LP2
  2. Wally World and Target have all sorts of the under-armor type tops for low prices. I wear them a lot on my motorcycle. There is a lot of spandex rashguard-type there, too. Catch them on sale for $5 each.
  3. Honestly, I saw it as a compliment that you have found something that you are not only good at, but appear to be enjoying. Some seem to try to find something wrong about everything they hear. Some try to find something good in everything they hear.
  4. Have a Happy, Happy day, Phil! Good luck with the decision. At least there are so many choices that are GOOD.
  5. I like it. And the feathers aren't turning into birds!
  6. At a recent convention, it DID look like at least 75% of the artists were having fun. I mean, you are artists, you have the talent and you have found a medium that you can make a living with. Beats driving a taxi, doesn't it? I was blessed with an OCD engineer brain. I can fix any particle accelerator, but I can't draw a round circle. Of course, the cyclotrons don't squirm and throw tantrums (often).
  7. If your neighbor has had a shop that long, he should know who has what styles in the area. Ask him. Sure, he may just refer people in his shop, but he may have a friend nearby that kills lace, and would tell you about it.
  8. Rolled over to look at the clock this morning and tweaked my lower back. Been in pain down to my knees since. Teaching today was tough to concentrate. I'm setting with the wife this evening watching American Pickers as the cloud from hydrocodone closes over me. Tattoo appointment tomorrow evening I will NOT miss! I have never had lower back issues before. This sucks! Thru the ether from my LP2
  9. That's a really nice, big, black koi - but I still think you should take your idea and skin to an artist for their evaluation. Thru the ether from my LP2
  10. This term did not originate as a descriptive term and migrate into a derogatory term. It started derogatory and remains so. Unfortunately, in the area that I live it was also often descriptive. Quite often the tattoo is poorly executed, too.
  11. Greetings. I'm new to this too - at 62! I do know one thing, for a photo-realistic of someone, get the best! Not just the best you can afford or best in NYC, as I've seen wat too many by 'good' artists that IMHO are just not good enough. Even worse if it a family member. At least for a pop culture figure, it could be a caricature. Thru the ether from my LP2
  12. Gotta say, if I were the shop owner doing a favor anyway and you took advantage of it that way, well. Do what you have to. Thru the ether from my LP2
  13. If an artist I went to acted ANYTHING like one of the jerks on these shows, I'd walk. Mid-tattoo if necessary and have someone else complete it. If I acted like that at work, I'd be gone before the end of the day. I've seen people being laid off on zero notice behave with more class. And if I had such a beef as the ones on the rivals shows have with each other I sure wouldn't put it on TV! Worse than Jerry Springer!
  14. Not having ridden in 35 years, I'd probably think twice (and at my age, bones heal slow) about it. But, that sounds like a GREAT adventure. I've ridden 5 gaited show horses (MANY years ago!), and canter is one of my favorites!
  15. No problem. I used to come off of 3 month submarine patrols and ride as soon as I got back. Just had to be careful judging distance and speed of approaching vehicles (having not focused the eyes beyond 30 feet for three months). I save my wrenching for my '78 GL1000 that I'm rebuilding. With 92k miles on the GL1800, I'd rather ride (btw, this one is American made) than wrench it. Thru the ether from my LP2
  16. Brit bikes are very cool (my first was a Triumph), but for reliability go Japanese. Thru the ether from my LP2
  17. Find some artists you like, and show (or email a very good photo) them what you have, discuss what you want. They can tell how much lightening needs to be done. Maybe none, depending on art, artist, etc. Thru the ether from my LP2
  18. Four wheels are nice when the weather gets ugly, but most of the time I still ride. Consider this if out of town a lot: you MUST have indoor secure storage. Motorcycles don't hold up well if stored outdoors, and are prime for theft and joy rides. Otherwise, as an old part, my full coverage including tow on a $16500 2006 GL1800 is ~$250/year in Tennessee. It's about twice that for each cage. I'm a full believer in ATGATT, in any weather. There is nothing hotter than sliding on asphalt! Most countries now have a rider education program that in a weekend or two will give street skills and smarts (and in Tennessee covers the on-road license test) to help make it more enjoyable and safer. I suggest 650-800 cc for first street bike, preferably not a sport bike. Thru the ether from my LP2
  19. And it is prime riding time! Too bad the coming week is forecast for all rain. The wife and I were planning a leaf ride on the BRP, but the only weekday I can get off (too crowded on weekends this time of year) is presently forecast 80% rain in Knoxville, which probably translates to 100% on the Parkway. Enjoy your little Kaw! I sometimes wish I had a little sport bike to play with, but would probably kill myself. Thru the ether from my LP2
  20. Would not have wanted to ride behind you in the skin shower the past few days! I don't know about you, but the helmet chin strap is irritating enough without it being over fresh ink. Also consider how it might wear the ink. Of course in some places you can ride without a lid, but I wouldn't be able to make myself go fast enough without it to satisfy my needs! That shark is worth protecting! Thru the ether from my LP2
  21. Mind you don't get the Chinese-made brands containing plastic shavings, though! I'm a traditionalist, and go with good old Purina, but sometimes treat myself to Mighty Dog (if I've been a real good boy). It does make me try to lick myself, though. Thru the ether from my LP2
  22. Don't feel too secure, DBD. I witnessed four good blue collars laid off this week because of how an upper manager screwed up our business. 30 years and a pension may be guaranteed still in some countries, but not in the USA! Thru the ether from my LP2
