@Naiemh is how to mention - use the at symbol and username
good post - yeah - in a way you cant escape the 'meaning' connection
you might not always be able to articulate in easy language
but the connection with image, idea, content
like you said - is generally revealing
though the meaning could be secondary in nature
like spinnng the tattoo wheel
your choice might not primarly reflect an interest or attraction you have to the piece
but it would maybe represent - your spontaneity and free spiritedness
btw havent done the spin the wheel yet
but a local shop has 80$ flash wheel
def want to give that a try
would be fun imo
anyway...

cool cool
watch the interviews
check out the lowdowns
give your area
a few folks are real quick with quality artist recommendations
i'm not personally a fan of the bio mech stuff
but a good tattoo is a good tattoo
and we all dig that
good luck in search
and welcome

we could derail this thread a little and discuss an interesting topic
assigned tattoo meanings and their importance to the collector
cause i'm in the camp of believing that you dont have to connect to the assigned or known meanings attributed to an image to enjoy it
hey bonus if you do - but i dont think its essential
especially when you are purely attracted to the artists work and style from the 'gut impact' perspective
thoughts?

If tattoos are the only thing your parents have to worry about then they are knitpicking. Not a big deal
you're off to a bangin start jr
making all these quick senseless posts
cant wait to see whats next
slow it down
make a post when you got something purposeful to add

@Naiemh - totally respect that
btw - if you dont follow on the IG you should check it out
http://instagram.com/livedintattoos
it might change your perspective a bit of beautiful tattoos
sunday they do 'takeovers' which typically feature some awesome 'lived in' tattoos

I want my tattoo to be in perfect conditions forever!this - to me - is problematic thinking - no offense @Naiemh - I know we discussed this in another thread but to me I see so many threads lately with people obsessing about their 'imperfect' tattoos asking what to do about it - getting tattooed can be risky in a way - because you are giving someone else control of altering your appearance - thats why doing your research is important - in the age of Instagram - i'm not sure i see the excuse for failing to do this - not saying you cant just walk into a shop and getting tattooed by johnny random - you can - just factor this into your expectations and ultimately your perspective on said tattoo - anyway...

Helio lst I'm new to the forum and was hoping that I could get a little help.im a self taught tattooer and it hasn't been easy..I have learned that 10 guage needles are the most popular needles to use for lining. But I would like to know what guage needles are more fit for shading and color? Any help would be appreciated!
wait if you're self taught how can you ask questions - er - i think you are breaking your own rules bud

Thanks I hope your right.
But if making it bigger or adding shadding to hide the bleed out isn't the answer (if that is in fact what has happened,) then what would the answer be? It's pretty noticeable on my trap muscle. I'd see it all the time. It would be a constant spruce of anxiety
your overthinking it - i dont think the blowout will be as noticeable as you think - tattoos just arent perfect - however - if there is alot of blowout in the tattoo - you might want to take careful considerations with returning to that artist - not saying that you cant get blowouts from good artists you can - but i think there might be a point where i'd look elsewhere
personally i say leave it go - get more tatts!

if it's a blow out I guess I have to ask him to make it bigger or put ashadding around around it to hide the blurring?
ah i'm not sure thats the answer

the pics are a little tough to read for me
in a way it doesnt matter what you call it
though i'd call it blow out if your asking
of course - let it heal and see where you're at
6, 8 weeks out
not the end of the world though
you'll notice way more than anyone else of course
because its on you
-
i'm not gonna lie and say i love your tattoo
but that said i dont hate it either
is this representative of the artists typical work?
i have no idea
because all we see is whats on you
regardless - i say you now have an understanding
more or less
of what to expect from this artist
so if you dont dig their work
look elsewhere for your next tattoo
and dont expect your tattoo to look 'perfect'
thats not what tattoos are about imo
the process should go more like this:
i dig an artist and what they do
i get tattooed by said artist
i'm stoked
repeat
but in the mix is the research
you came here
so thats a good start for next time
stick around
check out the threads (latest tattoo lowdown is a must)
watch the interviews
enjoy

awesome intro - 45 here as well - just went onto my forearms last summer - was very nervous as i work in a school system and wasnt sure how it would go down - but it turned out to not be a big deal at all - plus the students love it (k-2) - anyway - rock on with your big tattoo plans - go for it

Funky frog courtesy of Eddy Deutsche. Picture stolen from him. He pretty much read my mind. It's really angry here because inner thigh tattoos are a dumb idea.
that frog is so dope - saw that on the IG and wanted to like it 100x
hoping eddy is coming to jersey soon
he was at smith not long ago but i missed him - no $ or something like that
he's a tattooing legend and i've heard a pretty cool guy too
and oh - yeah - thighs are a tough tough heal imo
but who cares right - enjoy :)

show those sleeves
with all those sleeves you must like it a little :)
-
hey everyone has a right to express themselves here
and thats a good thing
and you know what
you got me thinkin
people enjoy tattoos for different reasons
we'll each have a priority of things that draw us to certain tattoos or styles of tattoos
and we'll each have technical application preferences too within those styles
and thats ok
me - i think first and foremost is the gut reaction element
certain tattoos hit you like that and you dont forget them
thats whats most important to me in the tattoo
not the perfection
its the impact
rob ryan does a nice job explaining this in this vimeo piece
which doesnt seem to want to show itself :)
so go to vimeo and do a little searching
3 minutes long but cool nonetheless

All of my tattoos look smooth and like all the other skin around them :/
Not like this. And absolutelly not after two months. Maybe he's healing slowly or something, so I think it will solve by its own, but definetly this is not how a proper healed tattoo looks like, lol
Do yours?

yeah i think his tattoo looks fine..."lol"
everyone heals different - every piece of skin is different
but yeah hes good to go - though you seem intent to convince him otherwise
but hey - your advice is probably what the OP wants to hear anyway
as one of the other forum members on here always says
people get the tattoos they deserve
and in this case - i think they ultimately listen to the advice they deserve too

I don't think this is normal. The skin where you have tattooed areas is like snake skin. It looks super dry and cracked. I would say it's just that you have sensitive dry skin but I see the non-tattooed skin around the tattoo pretty normal.
Go to your tattoo artist and ask, but I guess it can't be like this forever and it will solve by its own...
Anyway, you did super bad by using vaseline. This is the worst you could do. Maybe it's because of that it happened
Good luck

couldnt disagree more - OP - your tattoo looks like a tattoo - it will 'settle in' more - lose its 'shine' so to speak - but you're good - now - maybe you have a misunderstanding of what tattoos are - they arent digital prints magically attached to your skin - they're tattoos - as for the vaseline - well aftercare is a whole other topic isnt it - imo - you're better off dry healing - but thats just me

he seems pretty consistent in his efforts in that style
what would you call that style
it seems like a water color meets trash polka type of thing
it may have a proper name?
anyway - good luck @Vivian

not digging this season
i guess i wish the show was different
i think the skull challenges are way more interesting than the tattoo challenges on this show
its become a typical train wreck reality show
which i guess at some level i'm attracted too:o
