  1. hey you got your wheels working sir

get into to see an artist that you like

i'm sure others can chime in that are in the know for texas artists

but you get in there and describe what you're thinking

maybe bring a couple of ref pieces based on your ideas

and let that artist do there thing

    some cool ideas though

prob make a nice shoulder piece

  2. tay some tough decisions for you ahead

credit to you for considering your BFs feelings considering its a new relationship

myself - i am married to a plainskin and i will have a dozen pieces at the end of january

and we def have diff opinions on tattoos

i actually wish she would get some (between the girls would be a great spot lol)

but she doesnt dig the idea and thats fine me

shes sexy as all get out just as she is

anyway - we respect each other's wishes on this front

she is fine with me continuing to get more ink as long as i'm not breaking the bank

and i'm ok with her 'plainskin'

hopefully you can figure this out

but i think a bigger discussion is in the works for you two - good luck

  3. thoughtful reply graeme

i think the goal for me is to get unique tattoos for sure

that said i have also done a copycat deal a while back

i dont regret it but i thought about it after the fact

and i def shoot for the unique more so than not

i think some images though are just destined to be replicated in some way

especially the traditional style work especially when its content is popular

case in point the OP's eagle

while i'm sure there is quite a few ways to spin that design or

work with that content - you're bound to see some replication there

should it disappoint the wearer? not imo but i could guess it could depend

on many variables inclding how original or unique the design and content are / were

    anyway - interesting topic

  4. its a good question though

i think though about an upcoming sailor jerry flash day at a local shop

to think how many of those designs are walking about already

    but there still awesome designs

just that they are so simple and limited in how much they can be varied

it comes down to execution really - and you got a good one - enjoy!

  5. whats to be mad about - you got a well executed awesome looking eagle on ya

to be nitpicky though - there seem to be a bit different in there execution - also one is b and g and the other is color

to go another angle - its an eagle - and my guess would be there are many many eagles flying about on other skin looking quite like this as it is such a popular tattoo subject and style

  6. Nowhere near any of you with running, but as mentioned earlier I picked up running on a whim after reading about the C25K programme on here...swapped to zombies run 5k in the meantime as that's a bit more fun to listen to, but rather proud to say I'm still on it! I decided that I'll reward myself with kicking off the next tattoo once I've done my first 5k run....makes a rather good incentive I noticed, haha!

Just completed week 6, so not too long to go anymore I hope...

awesome - 5k's are the most fun

running communities / competitions are often filled with very cool people

    very chill group typically

in contrast to the cycling crowd - which is also filled with good people

but also plenty of 'my gear is better than yours' types

    - - - Updated - - -

Man, i can't imagine running on a hard surface in 5 fingers. I have a pair that i use for kickboxing and the gym but every time i even walk on concrete i just think "these things are never hitting the road".

well its advised to start really slow / short distances with minimalist gear

    and build up slowly

not that i listened to that

hehe but i paid the price ouch

  7. yeah seesea i think its an interesting category of pain if you will

i mean - it hurts - but i think most of us would agree that the hurt is a valued part of the process

getting the tattoo wouldnt be the same without it

also for me going to the rib area recently was the most painful area i have had done

but it only made it more special

anyway - i kind of put it in that category of desired pain

like marathons - hurts so good

in contrast - kidney stones - uh - WAY painful - not special -- no desire to repeat :)

but yeah i get what Graeme and you are saying

is there a 'pain lovers' thread?

or is that going into a 'too weird' place for us?

  8. Tattoo pain isn't real pain anyway. I could still be crazy mind you, but everything is getting covered at some point so no sense in putting things off because they're going to hurt. Besides, if you want tough tattoos you can't be a wimp about it.

haha totally agree except tattoo pain is pretty real cmon ;)

  9. In my opinion, the back is the one unique piece of the body that was made for one giant piece. To each their own, but I don't think it gets much better than the scale and size of a full on back piece.

i'm tending to agree - i constantly hop into the backpiece threads and i am both impressed and intimidated on varying aspects of such a project - hope to get there someday

  10. i loved everything pidjones said

i'd say the piece is very much finished

but of course the decision is yours ya know

    no right and wrong

and oddly (or not) i think the loss prior to its intended completion

makes the piece very special in its current state

    while of course being unintended

i would guess that his wife would enjoy seeing it

as for the when part - pidjones idea hits the mark for me
