My police department’s tattoo policy finally changed... so starting on my sleeve. Have most of my forearm started. I think I’ve shared it somewhere but I can’t remember to save my life. I'd think anything that ages your skin will age your tattoos also. Maybe not significantly, but it has to have some affect over years and years.

I wouldn't think so, Syd. You skin and therefor your tattoo should be ok. Just don't follow the path of the original Syd . . . 😏

Thanks for the reply. No, no burn at all, the work is very safe. I use gloves to work around the oven. Full healed. But I pretend to get some new inks in the future.

Thanks for the laugh at your expense. Let me ask you a question - do the ovens give you any type of burn (1st degree like a sunburn)? Are you all healed?

I can't speak for everyone but I must say the fact he was laughed out of the shop is the best sign that they were not the right people to work with and unprofessional. Cover ups are common, people make mistakes, especially at 17. I have done many cover ups, and In my day have got old ugly tattoos from my youth lasered and covered. I think you should just keep searching and find the right shop and artist that is more receptive to your friends needs. Certainly your friend should not be made to feel stupid for his/her decision to get a cover up or the concept for that cover up. Now that said, an artist may direct the design in the best way to cover what is existing as well as what will work for a tattoo given its size and placement ect. cheers.

3/4 of a 1/2 sleeve.. the math alone is fucking with my head... coverups are a big source of revenue for most tattoo shops.
