All right. For those who've seen it all ready, for those who've been waiting, for those who don't know what the fuck I talking about, for those who don't care: here is my back now. Finished this Saturday at the annual Scottish tattoo convention in Edinburgh. Iain Mullen and Rudy Fritsch converged for the first time since we did the lines in June, to do some two machine shading on the lower part and add some extra detail. One more touch up session with Iain in Stockholm and then this experience is over. It's been a great ride on so many levels and if I were to explain how happy I am about the result I would have to invent some new words. Both Iain and Rudy rules and everybody who has the chance to get the chance should really consider getting something from them. I will post a longer write up on this thread full-back-piece-experience-thread.html shortly, perhaps tomorrow. Right now I have a bad fever to pull through. One good thing about getting tattooed is that, if you do it right, it teaches you how tough you really are. Peace!

Healed whispering devil and fresh heel tattoos (and dirty feet). All by my pal Iain Mullen, Imperial Tattoo Stockholm. I am happy I finally decided to get this devil done, had been looking at the sketch in Iains box for a year all ready. It's actually facing inwards, against common tattoo-logic. If you follow around the leg you can see that it's point towards another tattoo of a sleeping lady head, by Jaclyn Réhe. edit: about the heels, the mouth with yin yang was my idea but made to fit by Iain. The other thing, whatever, was drawn on by him. We think it might be a satellite and/or one of those things alchemist brew their stuff in. Either way I think it's just right.

After wading through the 433 pages of great art here i thought i'd include my own art too :) Currently my artist and I are working on my second sleeve (and chest piece), this sleeve is Tamatori-Hime themed. And a close-up of the chest piece: Next week we are going the continue with the background on the upper arm, and start on some coloring. This is a picture of my other sleeve that we did last year: And the chest piece: All the work is being done by Bonel of the Corazon Santo tattoostudio in The Netherlands.

I just got home from our little trip to LA, and I brought a friend: I went to Bob Roberts and asked him for one of his tiger heads. He saw the spot I had open and furrowed his brow. "That's gonna be tough." He tried to sketch something on, but I could tell he was kinda flustered, so I said, "Ya know, I also really like your spiders." He lit up and said, "Now you're talkin'!" He drew it on and knocked it out in half an hour. All in all, it was a great, great experience. He and I chatted about music and, of course, tattoos. He asked to see my back, then said, "I got a snake on my back, too." He then proceeded to melt my face off by showing me his Ed Hardy backpiece, as well as his Horiyoshi III torso pieces. Coolest fucking dude ever, and I am beyond stoked on my black widow.

Hey guys, long time no post. I just realized I never posted my two latest because I wanted to wait until they were both healed. Not the best pics, but you get the idea. Cobra by Scott Sylvia done at Pagoda City Convention. Drawn on in 15 minutes, outlined in about an hour. Scott is the absolute best. We had originally talked about him doing all of the black in Reading then the color in the fall, but he had the time so we just powered through. It was another great experience being tattooed by him, and I can't say enough great things. Death's head moth by Oliver Peck while guesting in Philadelphia at Kadillac Mt. Airy. Another pleasure. Oliver was so down to earth and easy to talk to, just like you'd expect. He only did three or four tattoos that day, and I was lucky it happened to be the last week before school started and I could squeeze in after cross country practice (the only heavily tattooed coach in the world, I think). He checked out a ton of my tattoos and even took his shirt off to show me his stomach from Scott, his side from Rassier, and his back from Trevino. So awesome. Not the best photos, but it's what I have. Also, I was not expecting to have nearly this much pink on my legs, particularly from Scott and Oliver, but here we are.

Okay this is going to be one of those "Meaningful Story" tattoo stories. Deal with it. On 26 June, out of nowhere and with no previous symptoms my wife of 34 years had a Grand Mal seizure. On 26 July she had a brain tumor removed. On 30 July we learned that it was malignant and she has an 85% probability that she won't make it 18 months. But she's a fighter. 85% against just means there is a 15% probability she will make it. My wife spent her entire life fucking up the curve and that's not changing anytime soon. She was told that visualization is helpful. Make it a tangible "thing" you can combat. She takes chemo and radiation 5 days a week (for 6 weeks), then has a re-eval. She nicknamed the tumor "DLB" (dirty little bastard). I saw some flash on line and heard a 90's era song, added a little of this and that and the next thing you know I was in the chair. I hope you all like it:

    San Francisco treasures

As some of you know I visited San Francisco recently to get tattooed by Scott Sylvia, Tim Lehi and Grime. If you haven't seen it already you can check out my travelblog here: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/blogs/iwar/232-oslo-san-francisco-travel-blog.html My Scott Sylvia piece is as good as healed now, so I thought I'd start by sharing that one. The rest will be posted here as soon as they are healed and I get decent pictures. All I have to take photos with is my iPhone, so please excuse the mediocre quality.

I was definitely unable to contain myself the last two months. -Dan Sinnes scribbled on this locust yokai at Temple. I'm so pumped on how it came together. He posted a photo of the draw on for hilarity. -Valerie Vargas did the Oni/Gorilla fight on my arm at the Bay convention. I liked the idea of the eastern/western imagery clashing. My right arm is all american traditional patchwork and my left is semi-american traditional style patchwork with Japanese imagery. This has already healed ridiculously well. Henning did the namakubi at the Bay convention. I had been waiting a few years to catch Henning at the convention when he had space from his larger works and this was the year. This is absolutely one of my favorite tattoo's. My girlfriend is definitely not as pumped. I'm blown away by his skill and kindness.
