  1. I have ongoing trouble with my ears, but my (from before you were born!) navel piercing and all of my tattoos have healed perfectly.
  2. Mmmhmmm, a snake do over with a rose on top  I think, if you like the style, that a Japanese design could incorporate / hide that pretty well. There is usually some ghost of an old tattoo if you know where you're looking, and you can see it up close since it is on you, but we probably won't notice it walking past you. How much does that bother you?
  3. My first custom license plate was TRNADO6. I have a degree in meteorology, and I got the plate while I was in college. My license plate seemed like a good handle way back then, and I'm something like it in a lot of places online.
  4. Is getting bad tattoos how kids rebel against parents with great tattoos?
  5. Wait a while, if it is so new that you're still peeling. Let it sit. If nothing else, you'll have time to get inspired. I think mandalas are to this decade what a tribal sun was to the 90s, so there's that. "More feminine" - add flowers, pearls, birds, jewels, sparkles, Tomas Garcia dotwork Tattoos by Tomàs Garcia in rainbow colors
  6. I was going to say shower too - because you do not want any of that creeping gym crud anywhere near your tattoo.
  7. Sometimes artists have specific ideas that they want to do. They might have them drawn up for convention tattoos. They might also have a vague idea but want to draw directly onto skin. Keep an eye on your favorite artists Instagram feed for these kinds of things.
  8. @marley mission that is "shitty" I have to get annual scopes now. A full colonoscopy is better than a flex-sig, because at least you're sedated. The sensation is totally different when you're fully awake. I always tell my doctor I'm going to get a tattoo for her. It'd have to be placed so it was legible when I'm on my left side. Hope you enjoyed your night of a thousand waterfalls!
  9. Hubbs and I took a long weekend, went to the State Fair, a concert, had room service breakfast, ate all the things!, and snuck in some shopping. This was our first "after the kid graduates from High School" adult trip. The kid stayed home and took care of the dogs
  10. BB's Lawnside is 'round that side of town. So. Much. Fun!
  11. Target and Old Navy have them on the clearance racks right now. :D I totally bought a strapless maxi dress yesterday.
  12. New tattoo, new experience. Six for six, everybody has had his own approach to the money issue. I included a ballpark budget in my initial contact, and sure enough, that's about how much it is going to be. I think I'm just getting to be a more experienced client. I do not think the artist took my number and ran with it.
  13. I really like dirty tattoos. Yours isn't. Don't worry!
  14. I know. These tattoos are left arm tattoos. My right arm is for a composed, single piece half sleeve, if I ever find the right artist. I did find a few dresses that do go the other way, and there are always the adjustable halters too. I've never been a fan of strapless before, but I could see myself doing it now.
  15. I'll be seeing Tim Beck in September. This is my first real wait for it appointment. (Not that six weeks is such a long wait!)
  16. I just bought a new dress to show my arm. I learned that most one shoulder tops show the wrong arm. Darn, should have planned that when I started... I spend a lot of time covering up for work, and covering up from the sun, so it is fun to have a dress that will show all of them at once.
  17. I noticed my first unkind stare. I can't say it was the first, but it was the first I'd noticed. The funny thing was, it was at my prettiest tattoo. So I felt bad for my poor little flower, like, how could anyone be mad at a pink flower that means "joy". I didn't even think about the lady doing the staring at the time. This summer, I was the person with the most ink in the pool. Which sort of shocked me. I hardly have any. :p
  18. Rachel ☝️ just announced she's going to be in Chicago next month. So there's that.
  19. I'm in St. Louis, but a short trip is not out of the question. I see this style more in Europe and the West coast. First, what do I call it - line work, woodblock? Then, who is doing it in the Midwest?
  20. I would think that an artist could make a lot of designs work with the natural asymmetry, but of course they couldn't predict future changes. I'm not sure a mandala is the best choice, but other, more organic shapes could work well.
  21. I took a nap on the Fourth. Almost everything is clean and back in its place now after vacation.
  22. I have a chronic illness, but I was diagnosed well before I got my first tattoo. *shrug*
  23. I just got back from vacation. I got a picture of the desert rose tattoo with a blooming prickly pear, and I got a picture of my U2 arm at a U2 concert. I got a very cool beadwork rose design idea from an old pair of moccasins.
  24. It means Free Taco Wednesday to me now.
