Kimmie got a reaction from peterpoose in Plan to attend convention - what can I expect there? (Baltimore)
I've only been to two conventions so far, but both of them had a fair number of artists who were available for walk ups. Personally, however, I would still recommend doing some research before going. You might fall in love with an artist's work online and be able to secure an appointment instead of leaving it up to chance.
Even if you don't make an appointment ahead of time, you'll know which booths you want to prioritize visiting as opposed to walking in blind and trying to see them all. There's a lot going on at conventions, so it can get overwhelming and rushed for time.

Here's my baby! Seven hours down, an estimated two to go to finish up. Done by the incredible Erick Holguin of Ink & Dagger in Roswell, GA. It got a little sore at the end, but he was so gentle/light handed that it was smooth sailing for the majority of it. It's in memory of my mother, who loved cardinals, and is even better than I ever imagined.

I'm turning 40 this Sunday and I am an 80's/90's kid, if you consider an 18 year old, still a kid.

I remember when I first started thinking about my first tattoo, almost everybody would warn against "just getting something they have there" and I still hear it today. It wasn't until I actually started learning about tattoos that I discovered the history and concept behind flash. Lack of knowledge/ignorance like that is probably a factor as well.

I'm only 22, so I still feel like a baby most the time. I did ask my dad to explain more about 401ks and how they work the other day (none of my past jobs offered one). Felt like the beginning of the end.

    Kimmie,
I have sensitive skin my self, but I let the artist do it. Ingrown hairs will happen if they are going too... regardless... I have try everything in the book and I always get a few bumps here and there but nothing that I go "oh fuck"....
Some here have gone through some intense procedures before going in... I avoid that... I had an artist advice against applying anything on my skin prior to the work...
At any rate good luck! My appointment is tomorrow so I know how you feel right now :)

Is it the upside down cross? Any one who is religious will know that Peter asked to be crucified upside down because he deemed himself unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus. Which is why the upside down cross is often referred to as St. Peter's cross. I know of a few Christians who have this cross tattooed, in honour of Simon Peter.
Spot the girl who had forced sunday school religious teachings until mid teens lol some stuff stays with you.
Edit: Just thought you'd like some positive info about the upside down cross.

I sent him an email and he replied right back. He said "no worries man. They are super fun to do!" This guy is really nice and a solid clean tattooer. I will be sure to post pics when it is done. I am stoked to say the least.:D

Here are a few artists I follow that I think are under-recognized, or maybe I am just out of the loop.
Cam Davis Instagram THE most perfect roses I have seen
Drew Wilson Instagram Really cool "state" tattoos and a kick ass fly fisherman.
Dan Pemble Instagram WOW, check out his bears
Mark Stewart Instagram I have work from him

I've been content with planning out pieces for my legs, but these posts (especially that Lars Uwe back piece OMG) are giving me the itch.
Back to the original question, I think "masculine" designs make for some of the most feminine pieces. Instead of the delicacy coming from the image itself, it comes from how it's worn and by whom.

Images in tattoos don't always represent something, but I think how they're executed represents that period of the person's life (to some extent). So while I agree some styles age differently and may be more appealing to certain age groups, I wouldn't necessarily say that gives them an expiration date. If anything, I think these differences contribute to the overall timelessness of tattoos.

Kimmie got a reaction from Patrick Bateman in Hello from Atlanta!
Hello! I'm Kimmie. I have always loved tattoos and got my first one a few years ago. Though it is incredibly meaningful, I wasn't very knowledgeable about what makes a good tattoo and picked an artist that didn't execute it particularly well.
In the last couple of years, I have fallen even more in love with tattoos and soaked up every bit of information possible (following artists, reading articles, watching shows, etc.) On February 6th, I am getting my next piece from the incredible Erick Holguin of Ink and Dagger. It is in memory of my Mom and I could not be more excited.
    So hello!
