Yeah I've been wanting to move out of my ex's parent's house for quite sometime, I couldn't stand the intervention of her mother getting into our relationship and questioning me about petty bull shit, not to mention I was cheated on back in Dec. I am in a community of artists, and local businesses. I'll be able to ride my bike to my internship which is a few blocks away, my boxing gym, and to commute around. I'll only have to drive to school twice a week. I'm stoked!

Sometimes all it takes is for something big in your life to come to an end. Most people fall apart while others thrive. If you can thrive I think it shows what type of person you are. No disrespect to people who dont of course.

Well I must say I have enjoyed this thread. So guess its my turn.
My name is Jonathan Rockel. I am 32 years old and I live in Ontario, Canada. I am a plumber by trade with my local union.
I live out in the country as I can't stand having a neighbors roof overhanging my own, that and it would be hard to keep my 2 horses in the back yard LOL. I have a little 9 and a half year old teacup Maltese who is only 5 pounds of pure fun.
I got my first tattoo back when I was 19 and I have been slowly over the years getting more. The long gaps are only due to not making that much money or other priorities. I have big plans for more but I am going to have my sleeve finished first before I have a new one started. As AlannaCA had said that she has set goals for herself before she can get another tattoo, I have been doing the same now for the past 3 years.
I love having a project to do, whether its fixing something around the house or building something.
I have the most amazing wife in the world!! who I have been with for almost 11 years now. We both love tattoos and the art involved. We are both involved with our local classic car club. We currently cruise in our '79 Ford Thunderbird heritage edition. Its basically stock except for rims, tires and exhaust.
I love to treat others as I wish to be treated, Kindness goes a whole lot further, giving others a sense of hope for humanity.

Hello, my name is John, people call me JB, I'm from Roanoke VA. I'm 34 years old and have been getting tattooed for 15 years... I'm an IT admin at a small private school. I'm also HFA (high functioning autistic) so I walk about with a blank face and dont really socialize outside of the tattoo world, where strangely I've become comfortable, probably because I've felt accepted. I bike alot on an old modded Trek 700 and am really into ancient astronaut theory and esoteric history. Aside from that, I have a wife (who has superior tattoos), 5 cats, and watch alot of bollywood and play too many video games.

It will cost somewhere between the price of a large sandwich and the price of a house.
    But seriously, listen to David.
also, that's one of the 10 pictures we see multiple times every day from customers, along with celebrity tattoos and the wonky outline-only tiny swallows.
Let me guess, you don't want it as high up toward your neck, or as low down your arm and a little bit less across the stomach?
I wished all the guys who used to bring this to me would bring Tom of Finland drawings instead. Usually the same motivation but much better designed, drawn and a hell of a lot more fun to tattoo and wear.
The best advice would be to check out guys who specialise in large black tattoos and get them to design something that actually fits your body and works with it instead of this squiggly, ugly crap. - There's a tribal/blackwork thread here on LST somewhere. I know you're not going to read it.

I think some of my fav novels are from Isaac Asimov, Kurt Vonnegut, and I really enjoy old classic novels like 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and The Time Machine. I read a lot of tattoo referenced books like Bushido, Tattooing from the West to Japan, Invisible Man, and Horiyoshi III Biography is awesomesauce. I am currently working on The Art of Happiness a book about the Dalai Lama, and once in a while pick up this psychology book about science of thinking and personalities behind them.
In school right now, so a lot of my books are dealing with programming, database, server related, and theory of computers and software design.

Name is Thomas Storck, , 24, from El Paso, TX. Grew up skateboarding and met my mother and sister/brother for the first time when I was 18. Never knew about them for 15 years. I moved to Dallas in hopes of re-establishing a relationship with my father (which hasn't happened after 4 years). Now, I have moved on and currently going to school for Computer Networking Systems, have 1 year left for my Associates degree, interning for my friends creative design company as a web/graphic designer ( grew up free-lancing) and work part time as an Internet Researcher for a recruiting franchise. I like to box, and want to learn how to do BJJ (brazilian jiu jutsu) on my free time. Usually up until odd hours of the night drawing and reading about tattooing.
I have my first art show I am preparing for in Aug. which I am nervous and excited for that I am getting for. Nice to read about the rest of you above. Hope you start your own brewery David, that would be sick! I love good beer too.

Here are the latest additions. The Tiger is on my wife, the Fudo sword is me, both by Matt Arriola. The Christ is on me by Vinse One. I have three or four sessions left on my back, but Matt is moving to NYC so I won't be getting more work on it until November. All of this work was done within the last two and a half months so now I am broke.

The name is Dave Flores. I am 31 years old, I work in a warehouse as a forklift driver and as a counter person at Acme Tattoo. a small street shop on the outskirts of Portland Oregon. I am married to my wife Karen and we have a eight month old named Rollo. In my spare time I like to cook, brew my own beer, and obviously get tattooed and learn about the craft and its history.
Before Portland I lived in Phoenix Arizona and Colorado Springs Colorado. If you have any questions feel free to ask, but I warn you my life is pretty boring.

Racer 5 was the first beer that got me into IPA's. I just found some Russian River Sour Beers at Trader Joe's the other day spendy but worth it. I really love everything Lagunitas puts out. Brown Shuggah is probably my favorite or maybe the Wilco Tango Foxtrot. For awhile they were making a beer about Frank Zappa every year. I am getting ready to try to make a beer similar to Brown Shuggah while my wife is out of town this weekend. I hope it turns out.

p.s. don't expect to learn how to build machines just because your wife is trying to learn a half ass apprenticeship.

Boyer's photos make a strong argument. Guy named Jim LaPorte sold his extensive Lieber collection a couple years ago, and the pin-up sheet two photos above was $1600. A chunk of dough, yes, but a very fair price, considering the obvious influence Lieber had on Jerry, who's sheets go for three times as much. If anyone's interested in LaPorte's high-quality book of his collection, I can pass on his email. It goes for $250, I think, but it's sizeable, and fucking dope. Brooks turned my bud Kyle on to it, and we swooped on what we could and couldn't afford. Brooks got a couple great sheets. The Scott Harrison fish girl tattoo above is on SBoyer, and is flash from the Lieber sheet I went into more dumb debt for. My bud Kyle saw a picture of that Harrison/Lieber piece and said "That tattoo is perfect." Fucking strong.
Back to girls: There's tons of good girl head stuff that leans more towards the realistic, too. Sboyer just turned me on to Jose Lopez. Very impressive. My blind ass was also just made aware of how good Lenherr's girl busts are, as well. Jason Brooks does excellent girl/rose heads. I fully agree that Uzi's a very good tattooer, too.
Conn is obviously outstanding. I slid ass first into a pile of sugar when I got that Rock of Ages (pictured under the ROA thread) from him on my thigh in 2003. I was just getting my feet wet as a collector, and luckily picked up on how good he was when I flipped through his book at Temple the previous year. One thing that's impressive about his art is that it appeals to people who're new to looking at tattoo art (like me in 2002), but continues to reveal deeper layers when viewed by a more experienced eye. That's when tattooing truly becomes "art", in my opinion. The apex of this dynamic is reached when staring at a Van Gogh, Kawanabe Kyosai, Soga Shohaku, or Kano Hogai painting or print. Fuck, every time I look at the Van Gogh print on my wall at home I get tractor-beamed into some aspect of his holistic vision that I never noticed before. Hokusai, too. Hell, I can ogle Mike Malone's shit all day, as well. He was real into Soga Shohaku and Kano Hogai. Go figure.
Speaking of traditional tattooing that is true art, look at Richard Stell's tattooing. I was beyond dumb-lucky enough to get a couple tattoos from Mike Malone when he was around, and wish I had done the same with Ed Hardy and Higgs when they were tattooing. To people who dig my Malone tattoos (and covet the experience of getting tattooed by a dude like that), I say get tattooed by Stell. Eddy Deutsche is tattooing in L.A, too. He's another one who's tattooing is true art.

That bear tattoo just makes me think, "Ms Rad by name, Ms Rad by nature", haha.
Here's a new one from me! This was done just yesterday, so my arm is pretty swollen. It's by Thomas Morgan, who is just finishing a guest spot in Inkslingers in Newcastle. I think he told me he'll be in Paris next, so if you live near there, I'd recommend getting some work from him!
Oh yeah, and I kind of thought this was obvious (I'm sure it will be to you guys), but since a couple of friends have asked me- the gypsy head isn't from yesterday- Ian Parkin did that, and it looks FAR better when my arm isn't at a funny angle :P
Anyway, here you go, sorry for the bad picture. I never did put that picture of my tattoo from Charlie on here, did I? If anyone wants to see it, I'll gladly put that up too :)

Scott did this one last night on my arm. i'm pretty stoked on it, and all morning Jackson and i were joking around, me moving my arm quickly towards him at random points and saying "ROARRRRRR". it's not the best photo, just one from my laptop, and before i get asked, it's a California Grizzly Bear and the 1922 is the year they went extinct.
