    Beyond stoked.

Its strange. I admire the opposite. Theres something so appealing to me about the "modest" bodysuit design. By modest I mean full back, full front with the "river" down the front, just above the knee and just before the elbow, with one main image on the back and one accompaning images on each thigh and each shoulder. I think in the west, tattoos have become sortof trite because we wear tattoos so boldly and outwordly. It looses that speacial something. I like the idea of being in control of your situation at all times, to be a tattooed person when you decide to reveal yourself. You can carry this secret side to yourself that not many people would know about. Not only that but I find it fits the body so much more naturally. Theres something about the suit stoppingvat the hands feet and neck that looks unatural to me. Not sure how I can describe it.

If I could start all over id go with the modest bodysuit design for sure, as apposed to the American one-point style bodysuit Im heading towards at thr moment. I still love my tattoos, but I appreciatethe Japanese philosophy much more.

I would so, so, so love to have 3/4 or full sleeves, Japanese style, but professionally it is just not an option for me.  Sigh...
I currently have Japanese half sleeves.
There is something about the totality of Japanese sleeves that really appeals to me. It is like they transform the arm into a completely new thing. I really admire people with the nerve to go to full sleeves and display them.

Thanks alot! Just saw yours and sweet piece. That rash looks like it sucks. Had a pretty bad one also on my foo dog but havent on my newer ones so Im sure I applied the tegaderm wrong not allowing it enough space to move. Its all a learning experience.

I doubt it. From what understand, it only appears on the edge because thats where its pulling on the skin the most, and the friction caused by the constand pulling is what causes blisters.
Bacteria doesnt cause blisters from what I understand, but a broken blister is a good opportunity for bacteria to get in.

Took the tegaderm off this afternoon. I put it on Sunday midday and took it off wednesday midday. Looks great! Fairly painless removal, paper thin flakes. The only issue is I have big cutout areas where my skin got irritated by the tegaderm, but strangely its only on my upper thigh. Im guessing these are friction blisters. Im going to guess they will scar. Thank god they arent on the tattoo.

I hope he comes back sometime soon.  I had the chance to briefly talk with him when this video was taken and he was really cool.  I'm a nobody, just some guy who likes tattoos, and he was really friendly and down to earth, and he was super interested in my tattoos and asked all sorts of questions about them.  I thought it was great to meet somebody who has been involved with tattoos for pretty much his entire life and he still clearly loves them so much and still gets excited about them.

Wasup Everyone. Ive used tegaderm on about 5 of my tattoos to date and love the product. I keep the initial saran wrap from the studio on overnight roughly 16 hours allowing most excess plasma and gunk to come out. I then wash the tattoo with unscented soap making sure it is completely clean/ no longer slippery from the soap or bodily fluids. I then dam the tatto with clean bounty paper to take off any additional water. Now I allow it to air dry for 2 hours or so. Now its time to apply the tegaderm. For this important step I like to naturally extend (NOT stretch) whatever skin the tegaderm is going to be applied on. If the tattoo is say on your bicep you should straighten your arm downward rather then having it curled because the skin is naturally much tighter in this position. I do it this way because after it is applied the tegaderm will crinkle a bit while you in your natural resting position and will stretch enough when you are stretching that limb. Not doing it this way will limit your range of motion, cause the tegaderm to loose adhesion all together or cause some really nasty rashes on the un-tattood skin. After it is applied I personally leave it alone for 4 days. On the fourth day I shower in warm water allowing the tegaderm adhesion to become soft allowing easier removal. From here I wash it a minimum of 2 times a day applying a very small amount of lotion with clean hands whenever I feel it getting a little dry. Whew... Feel like im rambling on. Just giving my personal experience using the product but this will not apply to everyone. A short video on how to remove and apply.

Three years ago Filip Leu and Kurt Wiscombe did three collaborative backpieces in three days at the Montreal convention, and here's a short documentary they made about it.

Good idea. If you arent sure, just ask him if he thinks $400 will be enough for what you want. He knows what his designs are worth.

Thanks for your response, I will definitely give the shop a call. I believe it's a private studio so it may just be his mobile. I have set aside up to about $400 which seems like it would be good for a palm or so sized tattoo from flash but you never know, which is why I am sort of second-guessing myself. Thanks again

I always ask for the price, as I need to know how much to bring. I always ask it last, tho, after everything is sorted out and the appointment is made and the design and placement are chosen. I just say, "How much do you think it will be? I want to know how much to bring with me." or "I want to known how much to set asside."
Doesnt have to be any more complicated than that. If youve already shown that youre comitted to getting the tattoo, you shouldnt feel bad about asking for price. If you hear artists complain about it, its usually from clients who are price hunting and dont have any real intention of getting tattooed by them.
If he doesnt respond to emails give the shop a quick call.

What he said. One thread is all that is necessary for the subject of one tattoo.
P.S. She's started three threads on the same tattoo over at Big Planet! Good times.

There's no need to start 4 threads on the same subject. You could continue the conversation in one of the other threads you've started, or simply ask the tattooer that you plan on going to to get tattooed.

I forgot to mention the version translated by Gustav Heldt. A thinner book than others so it's probably missing many nuances but it's a much much easier read. Also I mentioned the Taheiki previously, but I also meant the Nihon Shoki or Nihongi.
Also esoteric buddhism as your friend mentioned would be good too. Good luck on that one. I've never been very good at figuring the Dieties out and understanding all the various gestures and such.
