  1. If the shop says it takes credit cards then it is fine. Some shops do, and some shops don't. If you plan on getting tattooed at specific shop then call ahead and ask. I know you plan on stopping by Temple, but one of Temple's best tattoo artists, Derrick Snodgrass, lives in Kentucky. If you live in Kentucky you need to get tattooed him.
  2. I live in Vancouver. When you get here message me, if you would like to, and maybe we can meet up. I probably average at least one trip a month to Liberty in Seattle. Next weekend I am going down to Olympia to get tattooed by Marco Hernandez. I can also steer you in the direction of some good Vegan restaurants. - - - Updated - - - I live in Vancouver. 3. I am not sure what you are talking about. You do think it's weird or you don't think it's weird?
  4. I missed whatever was discussed about Chad Koeplinger, but I don't think that it is out of bounds to talk about where an artist may or may not be relocating to. I don't get to spend as much time on here as I did in the past so maybe I have missed it, but I don't remember ever reading anything gossipy or all that personal about a tattooer on this forum.
  5. I would call Rock of Ages in Austin. Word is that he is moving down there this year, and even if he isn't he has been making trips down there on a pretty consistent basis. Dreyfus the shop guy at ROA is very helpful. I called down a couple of weeks ago to book an appointment with Steve Byrne. I am taking a short trip to Austin so I didn't have a lot of time available to get tattooed, but he was very helpful and got me in.
  6. I really like my Japanese mixed with a little Western flavour. Are you looking for ultra traditional Japanese or are you open to some American influence in it? If you go to Austin you have a lot of great choices. Trevino, Brooks Seibert, Chastain, Hundahl, and Steve Byrne. I know that people don't usually think of Steve for Japanese, but I really like his Japanese style work. If short flights are in your future you should also consider Mike Roper. I recently saw a backpiece of his (in person) and it was impressive to say the least.
  7. 22 with a face tattoo. Sounds like an X or Violent Femmes song. There are few things more annoying to me than models of any type. Standing around looking sexy or sad while people take your photo is not my idea of a career. No matter how much it pays.
  8. Hogg is right. Five hours back there is no joke. I know that I have posted my back on here before, but I don't remember if I posted progress photos. Here is a link to my Flickr page. I took a photo after each session. The entire tattoo took about 22 to 25 hours. The first session was an hour and a half, and the second was about the same. That means that I put in over twenty hours the last three. It was rough, but now it is done so fuck it. Flickr: averytvz's Photostream
  9. Make sure and post a photo. When I get down to San Francisco Rassier is my top pick. I just booked an appointment with Steve Byrne for the first week of February.

  11. I think that Irezumi is the one to answer this question. I am pretty sure that he was tattooed by Tux, and I think that somewhere in one of the threads Tux is talked about a little bit.
  12. I am enjoying some Yule right now. All the best to all of you.
  13. Scott is right. Just ask. You will probably get more recommendations than you can handle.
  14. If anyone is curious what a Devita stencil tattooed by Scott Harrison looks like this is the one I got from him last week. It is two Devita stencils laid over one another then made into flash by Scott. I know that it is not everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. Bad photos and sideways, but it was the best I could put together right now. Sorry.
  15. I was following this on Instagram. Four days is the way to do it. Congratulations.
  16. Anyone that is anywhere near NYC and loves tattooing should go to this event.
  17. He did retire, but Oliver Peck helped convince him to come back and tattoo from time to time. He will be posting any guest spots on Instagram so take the opportunity if it comes up. And yes the Devita book is a bargain at $30. I own it and look at it almost everyday.
  18. Scott does handle the sale of Thom's art, and he doesn't get paid for it. He just genuinely loves Thom and wants to see him recognized, and to receive some financial compensation for the great work that he produces. I have been tattooed by Scott twice, and both times I got great tattoos and had a great time. He is one of the nicest and most intelligent people you will ever meet. He recently decided to start tattooing again on a semi regular basis. If you have the chance to get tattooed by him do not pass it up. In my opinion he is one of the best tattooers in the world. I know that sometime in late January and early February he will be in Dallas, and then in Austin. If you want a tattoo that you can not get anywhere else then find out when he is tattooing near your town, and get there.
  19. You can email him at [email protected] He is working out of his own little place right now.
  20. I know, but I can't order it yet. Hardy Marks doesn't ship to Canada, and it is not available on the Last Gasp website yet. It looks like Christmas will be coming a little late for me this year.
  21. Thomas tattooed Tony Hundahl's head, and Tony told me that it was very fast for how intricate the tattoo is. I would be surprised if it took more than five hours for him to do that outline.
