While I don't have any unplanned tattoos right now, I have a plan to swing by either Smith Street or Adorned (or both) and get something on the spot. I am a bit of a control freak so it will be fun!

I'm Sure it's been said previously but I am at the point I enjoy every tattoo that walks in the door. With all the shops and people not having money I'll be happy if a taz comes in the door..lol. Honestly if someone has an idea that may not make for a good tattoo I enjoy helping them make it in to something that will stand the test of time.

haha, no way! this girl was an engineering major. i suppose the triforce could be a simplified version of it. i've gotten to do quite a few triforce/zelda tattoos, actually tomorrow i'm doing a link tattoo on a guy who i put a ganondorf on last year. i'm actually surprised at just how many zelda tattoos i do each year.

Nope, different, Cafe Du Nord this year, but the general vibe will be the same, "a bunch of bearded tattooers getting rambunctious and possibly topless," just like @amoxill said.

Idea for a penis tattoo. You could get the letters LISTERMINT.
During the winter months it would read LST.

Yeah Rory, your comments are interesting too. It didnt hurt me to bad on the fatty parts near my waist...easiest area of the day. The funny thing for me was, it hurt like hell when I was on my back...but wasn't too bad when I was on my side or my stomach...
the pain associated with being tattooed is weird.

I had my side line work done yesterday...so I experienced all kinds of new pain...ribs are really painful. Pelvic bone...PAINFUL. What was done on my butt hurt, not too bad though. Upper ribs under my arm was brutal. What was done on my stomach was crazy too...the whole thing hurt basically except the fat around my waist (first time ever I am glad I cant seem to lose the "love handles"). But the area by my nipple...excruciating. I seriously thought I might start crying.
Cant wait to go back to have it colored. :D

I really don't NEED to travel at all since I live in NYC, but I want to badly, simply because there are some artists' work out there that I want. I also like the idea of a bit of adventure with getting a tattoo far away. It's a bit different from driving there driving home, go to work the next day....boring

    So to resurrect a thread....
Now getting serious about traveling to the UK to get some tattoos (currently looks like by Stewart, Duncan X, and possibly one more). Planning plane, hotel, etc...all very exciting. The thing I am wondering if any of you ran into was how do you send a deposit? I am lucky to live in NYC, with a lot of great artists within a subway ride away, so I always bring my deposits in person.
Also might hop over to San Francisco possibly in January-February (work/funds depending).

Travelling to Frith St from North Wales seems like a very reasonable distance for something so important, and given that I have prime retail space saved for Juan Puente and Thomas Hooper, it hardly seems like much hassle at all. Getting work from those two guys is going to be a far bigger commitment. The only irritating part is that until a few years ago, my wife and I lived in south-east London and didn't make proper use of our locality! I worked a 10min walk from both The Family Business and Into You. Je ne regrette rien.

Alanna- I use Porter every year going from Toronto to Chicago. Last time I flew was a little after the Toronto tattoo convention (I think). There was a dude on the plane who had fresh tattoos on both hands (a skull on one, a lady head on the other). So looks like a few people have the same idea as you, in a way. Porter is cool, all the free coffee and brownies you want in the airport, and on the plane they serve little cans of steam whistle beer.

i just saw this and the mention of berit from tatau obscur and felt like i had to say something. while i don't think i would get tattooed from her, she needs to be respected partly because of her history in berlin. she was one of the first tattooers in berlin to actually know how to draw and helped break the hell's angels control of tattooing by simply refusing to pay their protection fee. jan and fide from fuer immer both worked at tatau obscur before opening their own studio. she is one of the older tattooers in berlin and everyone respects her, including lars uwe who some would think is one of the greater tattooers in this country. she might not be well known, and her style might not be everyone's cup of tea but tattooing in berlin wouldn't be what it is without her.
