Newbies mostly, come on all the time asking if something is infected. It's true, we aren't doctors, and even if we were, we shouldn't be dispensing medical advice over the internet, BUT some of us have been around long enough to know what to look for. If it's not hot, oozing, smelling, extremely painful, it's not likely to be an infection. That's just a fact. I'd be the last one to discourage someone from seeking medical advice if they were concerned, but there are indicators.
Same with healing - people come on all the time, "I've had this tattoo for two days, will it heal right?"
Same with blowouts - "How do I fix a blowout?"
Same with reactions/allergies - "My tattoo itches, am I allergic to the ink?"
There are probably some others that I'm not thinking about. Just food for thought.
And for Christ's sake, don't come on the forum asking for advice and then start arguing! If you already know the answer, what are you asking for? And if you don't know the answer, why are you arguing with my answer?

Hi guys. New to the forum here. Got my first tattoo last week. It’s not 100% done yet. Gotta go back and add a dove, some clouds, and light rays in august. The lions eyes are purple because I fought and beat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2020 and that’s the ribbon color. I’ll post fresh and current. Currently in the bottom picture my scabs are coming off. But can’t really tell that in the picture. Just trying to keep it lightly moisturized a few times a day.

This is what I've got going on as of now. I could use some ideas,  I've two appointments coming up in the next few weeks and wanting to get something to finish up the inner thigh and the hamstring area. Looking for some direction on what would work well. Thanks in advance!

I love vintage bikes, and this weekend (May 13&14) a friend is hosting his second Possum Gathering in Sevierville, TN. I will be helping out on 12, 13, &14 and showing one of my bikes. Had a large time with beautiful bikes and great folks last year. If you are in the area, check it out!

Here's an update at around 20 hours. The outline took 3 sessions to finish, around 10 hours (so. many. lines.). But we've been making steady progress with relatively short appointments every 2-3 weeks, and the cover up is almost done. I'm loving the wildflower color palette and all the little creatures peeking out here and there.

Finally, my turkey vulture back piece is finished in just around 30 hours. Hammered out a 5 hour session yesterday to color in all the flowers/petals and some background shading. Stood up to take final photos and nearly passed out. The lower back is BRUTAL and apparently back dimples are incredibly nerve rich because those had me gasping. So glad to be done with this. I’m wondering though, if I found this to be such an incredibly painful process, can I handle having my legs done? I’ll do my other sleeve first and then probably start leg work. I feel both badass and weak! Either way I’m in love with it.

I'm two sessions in on a flora and fauna back piece by Virginia Elwood. The piece is covering up a somewhat ill-advised first tattoo that I got after surviving a very tough year at age 18, and I'm pushing 40 now, so it seemed like a good moment to move onwards and upwards.
I'm so in love with how it's coming out. Everyone is right about some of these spots being no joke though — 3-4 hours feels like PLENTY for one day. My next session is this week to add some more creatures in some of the spaces along the sides and hopefully start some shading. Should be "fun"!

26 hours down with one session left! Spent the last session doing background shading and the whole branch. The lovehandle area had me almost tapping and *almost* in tears. A very special kind of searing pain 🌶

Here are pics of the first session. Only went about 3 hours. Got a late start because of icy road. One more session of outline and then on to color and sharing. I'm very happy.

    Hi,
Soo.. this is my traditional tattoo of the classic piece "Pharaohs Horses". I got this 2 years ago, and I'm still happy with it! But...
Some may say it's facing the wrong direction, since the proper way of displaying art is towards the centre of the body(?). I had the discussion with my tattooist prior, and he said he could flip it to the other direction, but then it wouldn't be facing the original way. Since I didn't wanted it on my left arm for some particular reason (will cover that one soon as well lol), I went ahead and got it facing outward on my right arm.

    So my question is,
What do you guys think of it? Should I get something below which is facing forward to balance out the overall look? Will it make it (more) awkward?

Ps. Picture is from before it was healed.
