I have been goin back and forth in my mind about a spiderweb in the armpit. I have talked to a few who have had ink done there, and they cringe when I bring it up. Like they re-live the pain. LOL. So with that in mind, Im gonna do it. This summer for sure. I will post all the traumatic events as they unfold. lol.

My first (and currently only) tattoo was done about a month and a half ago by Misha at Zulu Tattoo in Los Angeles, California. It's a side portrait of Ariel from The Little Mermaid on the inside of my right forearm, to begin my Disney sleeve. It took two hours and I am beyond enamored with my tattoo. I've always loved Disney, and the movies and characters play a big part in my life. Below is a photo of my tattoo before it had begun to scab (as you can see) and the second was taken about two or three hours after it was done (the lighting as terrible and, as you can see as well, the swelling in my arm was very bad). I hope the photos aren't too big.

I can also post this, just saw that Knibbe Pallius @ Never Die Tattoo in Gothenburg had posted it on instagram when it was done like 2-3 months ago. Shame we'll have to redo the lines, they aren't black due to bad healing. Back of the knee = pain.

Got this one from Simon Erl the other day and I am really happy with it. He didn't draw it as I had envisioned but made it much better. If you are in Stockholm make sure to swing by Swahili Bobs, he'll be there for another month or so.

There are a lot of shops run by/affiliated with various clubs. That doesn't mean that they are in any way operating illegally, or unethically. To assume that a M.C. is a criminal group is a typical candy-ass mistake.

Think about when people run for political office, they try to associate you with everyone you ever had a conversation with. Plus plenty of people in Bike Clubs have jobs and some of them are bound to be tattooers or oddly enough get tattooed by a tattooer, but yeah some sort of intercontinental conspiracy seems far fetched.

Dude just really doesn't know what he is talking about, probably has been misinformed by people when he asks questions, and just uses that misinformation to form his own conclusions. His view of tattooing is one who has too much exposure to it on the internet and probably not enough time around actual tattooers. The fabricated facebook drama and stories of photo shop fraud that most people just ignore are the biggest problem with tattooing?
I have a whole rant in my head about realistic tattooing, but I don't want to seem like I don't like it or respect it, but just don't think it's any fancier or more creative than any other style. In a genre where a lot of the work is exact reproduction of images(some of them copyrighted) it's hard for me to listen to someone complain about being copied. Of course your realistic color portrait of Michael Keaton as Batman looks the same as the next guy, you used the same image as reference, and if it didnt look the same, I would be worried. On the other hand, I caught someone in the traditional realm rant the other week about someone ripping off their commisioned tattoo drawing that they posted on every social media site out there weeks before they tattooed it, not to mention the image was of a very famous cartoon character. Meanwhile the best tattooers in the world keep putting out amazing work and don't have time to deal with such nonsense.

Read it through, and all I can say is from the perspective of someone who has ridden in a club, who has friends in a large, mainline club, and who rides.
Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.
Does this douche-nozzle stop for one fucking second to think about the ramifications of the spew he writes about how the entire industry is being extorted by M.C.'s?! Fuck no. Straight sensationalism. If he qualified it, and said "in this city...", or gave some type of back-up, "this is my friend who ran such and such a shop that was extorted...", but no, he just ssquirts it out there and runs.'
Thought the rest of the article sucked too.

I can see some points in there, or at least can understand the perspective that someone would have to write this article, but I can't say I agree with much of it.

Realistic tattoos aren't my favorite style, so I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of that genre. I don't know anything about tattooers fighting about their tattoos being photoshopped before being posted on social media sites to gain business, but I'm not shopping online for tattooers, either. I guess this guy would consider me an old fart and a dying breed myself, I'm okay with that. But to answer the question, is it an interesting read? Not so much. Not for me. All the threads on LST have much more interesting content, IMO.

There is no such thing as a bad question. Except questions questioning the legitimacy of glow in the dark tattoos. Those are always welcome to promote ridicule.

Lucky I found this thread! The other night I had a dream I went to go get a tattoo with my sister. I don't remember what I asked for, but when it was down, it was a purple new school rabbit on my shin that faded to the right, which lead to a mermaid tattoo that looked like it was drawn by a child. No outlines, no black, choppy colors. I start freaking out on the tattoo artist and he told me you get what tattoos you deserve. I was screaming that he ruined my leg, who the fuck wants a hybrid rabbit/mermaid in two vastly different styles??!!

I'd say it's more "normal" to tattoo armpits than Nipples. I've tattooed maybe 10-15 pairs of armpits. from palm-sized to full coverage. Your question @peterpoose is similar to asking "Will the hair grow back on my arm?" your skin and it's function will not change. It may be a little more sensitive for a while but armpits heal fairly quickly.
Nipples are less common. I prefer the look of a tattoo that goes around the nipples if it's designed correctly. I've yet to notice anyone have loss of 'function' with tattooed nipples. They don't hold pigment quite as well as other areas, much like an elbow or knuckle. you can get the pigment to stay but you're not going to be able to have a mini portrait there.
One thing to bear in mind: You can tattoo anything. yes, ANYTHING. Yep, even that bit you're thinking of. Yup, even that other bit.

Now the question is, will it look good?
The answer, as ever, is to go to someone who has healed examples of the type of thing you're looking for but some areas of skin won't ever hold finely detailed tattoo designs.

On a somewhat similar note, I've been seeing a lot of stomach/torso tattoos that fill in the bellybutton, and I think it looks way better than just leaving that spot open. Has anyone had their bellybutton tattooed/tattooed someone's bellybutton? I imagine it must feel pretty weird.

A friend of mine got a huge Celtic cross on his torso, and had his belly button filled in for it. He said it felt strange, but wasn't very painful at all, compared to the rest of the tattoo. He's also pretty hardcore though, so his idea of "not very painful" might be a bit different from most of ours.

I can say this, from personal experience. Keep your tattoos out of direct sunlight. Back when I was a kid, we could play outside all day in the sunshine and not get 1/3 of the UV damage that you can get today. I suppose the Ozone is really getting trashed like they say it is. Just walking from inside the house out in the sun feels different than it used to. Its almost an instant little sting thing goin on. Anyone else notice that?
