I have a traditional rose & dagger combo from him and love it. I know he does awesome traditional but I'm not sure if he does any photo realism styled stuff.....- 31 replies

I've never emailed Johannes, but other artists I've emailed have responded within a week. If you want a quicker response you can always call the shop directly. If you don't mind me asking... what are you planning on getting from him?- 31 replies

Thanks Dan, you always give solid advice and are one of my favorite posters on here. I've only started getting tattooed in the past year so I have only have a few pieces and tried different methods each time. My best results came from dry healing for the first 3 days then using lotion to help alleviate the dry/tight/itchy feeling. I would say 80% to 90% of the tattoo heals beautifully but i end up getting areas of thick scabbing (not fun) in the other 10%-20% of the tattoo and that usually results needing touch up. -

Anyone else feel like they suck at healing tattoos? Its not going to stop me from getting more work but its annoying and makes me hesitant about traveling to get a one shot piece because I know I'm going to need touch up. -
@ian What do you have planned for a cover up? Grime is doing it right? I hope he gives you the okay to post progress pictures of the tattoo.

@Brock Varty Thank you! The super tiny amount of lotion has made the healing experience 10x better. I've switched to dry healing my new tattoos because I feel like it works better for me but now I know a high movement area like the elbow ditch needs a little lotion.
-
Any tips on healing the elbow ditch? I started my 3/4 sleeve this week and the small amount of shading in the elbow ditch has not been healing so great. Due to the movement in the area, a few cracks formed so I'll definitely need a little touch up. Any advice on preventing the scab from cracking after future sessions? My current aftercare routine is to wash the tattoo every 4-5 hours for the first 2-3 days and let it dry heal (no ointment or lotion).

i understand that you are concerned about how your tattoo is healing but please do not ask for medical advice on the internet.

or ignore it.

I guess I'll post my latest... by Johannes at Good Faith in Boston. -
I like it. Not sure why you want to remove it.

sacred hearts and jesus heads are solid classics. i want one of each even though i'm not all that religious. i just think they are powerful images that make great tattoos.

I always feel like crap (whole body aches, don't want to talk to anyone, etc.) after getting a tattoo. When I get home all I want to do is shower, eat, then go to sleep. I think its because sitting still for 3-4 hours while getting tattooed is mentally draining for me.

I think a skull and rose is a great traditional design. Do you have an artist picked out yet?

I contacted Scot Harrison through email last night and this is the process for buying yourself some DeVita artwork: 1. Email Scott through his website ([email protected]) 2. He will reply asking you to send a check or money order for $330 to Thom's address (not surprisingly Thom doesn't have a computer so you can't pay with paypal) 3. Wait 4-8 weeks to receive your portfolio from Thom 4. Take a few moments and appreciate the artwork everyday for the rest of your life
-
does anyone know how to go about purchasing artwork from deVita?
-
Are you applying lotion to it? What kind and how often?
-
are there any iphone or android apps that apply a watermark to photos before you post? if not this would be a great time to create one.

I have my first appointment with O'Donnell to start a 3/4 hannya sleeve in a few weeks. I'm also really really really excited!

It would have been more appropriate to post a picture that shows off your tattoo rather than posting a spammy link.
