Good morning LST :cool: I just got back from Japan and I'm well and truly jet lagged, but before I crash for a few hours before work this evening, figured I should share this...

Just for fun going to post a panther snake combo I got done last year by Manee Friday right here in Portland.

notice that i used the word "collector", not client. i get how embarrasing it would be to have somone off the street come up to your shop, look through a portfolio, and say "sweet tats bro!" (and annoying). i get it, but at the same time, as discussed in other threads, that is someone who is probably (and this is an assumption) not getting tattooed for the "cool" factor or because it's what people are doing right now, not because they have a deeper attachment or interest in the community, art, or culture itself. while i don't think a serious collector would use some of the words listed above (though some appear to be catching on now), collectors are more interested in these other aspects of tattooing and therefore, have an investment in the community.

I have an appointment confirmed w/ Nick Colella March 2. (picking something off the wall, any suggestions ideas??) and we have plane tickets for San Francisco in June and I'm definitely getting tattooed out there as well. Pretty pumped about them both it will be my first time traveling for a tattoo. I think it will be a little weird as I have been super comfortable with my tattooer (Nathan Abney Nasty Nate Tattoo Artist). He's a real good friend and we bullshit the whole time, it keeps my mind off the pain.

If I am not mistaken, a lot of the fat ladies in circuses and ten-in-one shows at the turn of the century were also tattooed ladies. And, I would bet a lot of money that everyone here would agree with gougetheeyes.

and thats why shes my wife......its hard to pick one. thats how you end up coverd head to toe. just trying to get the coolest one over and over, like a god damn goldfish.....i hate dudes who have hand and neck tattoos that dont even have full sleeves... just saying you dont get crazy tattoo status with out getting tattooed you just get douche bag awards.

you can never have too much of anything! i have atleast 50 different skulls on me and a whole rose garden by now! a flock of eagles are forming aswell. (flock of seagulls? nice hair...)

Ralph Johnstone was one of the old South State Street tattooers and sign painters. He worked with Tatts Thomas a good bit, and I believe Nick has some of his old stuff there. I know he has a lot of Tatt's work, and other old-time stuff. Man, he's hog for that action, and he'll set you up righteous.
