Aaahh! Awesome!!

I'm gonna check in with la mama and see what's up with our itinerary, cause the trip is first and foremost for mom/daughter time and I don't wanna be all selfish prancing around NYC getting tattoo after tattoo. But! If there is time, I'll definitely let you know, cause how cool would that be

Hello from Oakland :)

Hey, welcome! Your life sounds awesome, haha. Can we see some pictures of your tattoos? Also, if I were in your neck of the woods, I'd be getting tattooed by Maurius Meyer on the weekly.

Cool, thanks Bunny!

Haha well what terms do you want to know? Mostly just sounds like art terms, which I know can be really confusing if you are not a visual person. Also no shame in going to your tattooer and being like "look, I have no idea what any of this means, can you explain it to me please?"

oh my god, yes.

Yeah actually I need to get tattooed by Mark Cross. That's a thing that needs to happen.

@OutOfIdeas congrats, that's great!!!!
Saturday night I got to hang out with the wonderfully charming and badass miss @beez after she finished her apt with Junii at Diamond Club. 9 hours in two days! What a beast! Got tacos, coffee, walked around the Mission, talked tattoos and life. Really fun time. Sunday I tattooed @MadeIndelible after being interviewed for his zine project. That was a really interesting experience. I've never been interviewed before and I feel like I word vomit a lot, haha.
Anyway, I'm not trying to circle jerk here, but I really recommend anyone take up the opportunity to kick it with LSTers off the board. Every single one of you that I've met so far has been really awesome. Like genuine quality folks.

Hey! So my mom and her choir are singing at Carnegie Hall this spring (rad!) and I'm coming along to be there with her for this major accomplishment, and to spend some time in the Big Apple. We'll be there May 31st through June 5th. I won't be working, but I do intend on checking out some of the incredible shops located within the city, and see some of the better things that NYC has to offer. If anyone would like to meet up and get dinner/beer/whatever, let me know!
Also, I've gotten a few suggestions as to the fun non-touristy things to check out in the city, but would love some more suggestions.
I am contemplating bringing stickers/prints/originals with me if anyone wants anything while I'm in town.
Cheers y'all!

Right on, welcome to LST. Do you have a particular style you're attracted to? Feel free to post up pictures of your own tattoos, or other tattoo imagery that you like. Cheers!

Capilli Tupou did a great clipper recently, it wasn't until I had seen this one that I'd noticed how flat and lifeless most sails look in tattoos by comparison.

Hey, good to hear from you! Hope everything works itself out in your favor.
I still feel like I say stupid shit all of the time, ha
There is a lot of egotism in tattooing in general, it's one of the things about all of it that bums me out the most. I think everyone, myself included, falls into that pit from time to time. Sometimes we get so obsessed over the impression and impact of the art that we don't distance our selves from it and our everyone's-got-one opinions fly out, and words turn into vomit, etc.
Thanks for that reminder though :) One of my favorite things about this place is that everyone is really mellow, really nice, and usually has no problem checking themselves. It's rare, especially on the soapbox of anonymity known as the internet.

I'm always bummed out when there are actually good shows at Eli's cause I never want to hang out after I'm off work. Like I might as well just put a sleeping bag in the shop.

As a tattooer, it's been really educational collecting work from a variety of people (and I think most artists feel this way). Perhaps this thread is more for the collectors than artists, as I think it's pretty unlikely that most artists would only go to one person for all of their work. I'm sure it happens though!
But yeah, it's just cool to seek out an artist whose work you really admire and get to watch them work and maybe even pick their brain a little bit. In my experience, everyone I've been tattooed by has been really supportive and encouraging, and is always willing to share little bits of useful info. So with that in mind, I think I'll be collecting from different people for the rest of my life. I do have a few tattoos from the same people, but it's not more than maybe 2 or 3. Also, living where I live, there are a ton of really great tattooers out here and sometimes I get trade offers, which can be a double edged sword I guess. I sometimes struggle with whether I shouldn't get tattooed just because it'd be convenient and I need to be more conservative with my remaining space, or if I should just do it because they're a killer artist and the experience is just as important as the tattoo.

I also wore my LST shirt at the con in October, I don't think it did any good though, haha. Everyone that I ran into from the board I had already met over dinner.
Also looking forward to a full report on this show. I'm going to the ATAK show tonight, so I'll be sure to take a boatload of pictures.
