  1. Jesus @Wilhell. What a calendar. I'm heading into my local shop to get a nice little "Mom" flower as a gap filler next weekend from my regular artist (Keith Reed in West Chester, PA). It's been too long since I've gotten something from him. Then I realized my July appt with Grez is approaching pretty quickly.
  2. They do a great job getting some awesome and knowledgeable guest judges (Freddy Corbin last week!), but they also get their fair share of shit. I wouldn't say Rob Zombie is any worse to judge than CC Sabathhia. It is what it is, I suppose.
  3. Yeah @HaydenRose, I didn't think the story of Divergent was terrible, but the way it was written definitely bad. I kinda bummed out my kids when they asked me if I wanted to borrow the second one. Haha. I'm curious to check out some of the other Green books. A bunch of kids are now reading another one of his (something about Katherines?), so I may check that out.
  4. I saw the poster pop up a lot on Instagram, but didn't realize just how many awesome people were going to be there.
  5. This year I seem to have more students who constantly have their nose in a book than ever before. And ironically enough, for an English teacher, I'm not at all well read when it comes to YA literature. So, on the recommendations of my seventh grade students, I read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It was definitely kinda sappy and young adult-y, but all in all it was ok. Next I read Divergent, which I pretty much hated. Haha. Maybe the movie that just came out is good, but the book is not. I think next I'm going to check out The Maze Runner. Kids are really into that right now, too.
  6. Important news via Instagram: Richard Stell cut off his beard braid.
  7. I'd love to and so would my wife. Someday we'll make it to this mythical west coast.
  8. Nice @jvince1230. I saw a lot of cool tattoos coming out of Electric City, including a friend getting a nice lil panther from Chad Koeplinger I really slept on getting up there and should've been paying more attention, since it's only a few hours away.
  9. @Hospitelli every time I see that tattoo I love it more and more.
  10. A whole bunch of random stuff. Like I said, it was a little bit scattered, so they were all over the place. Troy said he wants to do a "tattooing in the 90s segment" in each, so there was a little of that. One idea that seemed neat but didn't seem to pan out was them watching a Youtube video of some tattoo school thing and sorta MST3King it. But the whole segment just didn't seem to work. I liked the idea, but it was better on paper than in execution. Regardless, give it a listen. Pretty cool.
  11. I'm sure a bunch of you saw this all over Instagram already, but Troy Denning started Invisible Radio. It's a podcast, and in episode one he interviews Matt Vancura and Chris Garver. It's a little scattered and kinda awkwardly paced, but overall it's a solid first episode. Worth checking out.
  12. Haha. I was just thinking that there should be a running thread of this.
  13. Crap. I forgot to order the catalog. Gotta get on that. Thanks for posting those videos.
  14. Even though I was 99.9% sure that was what you meant, I still got a little nervous reading that at first. Haha.
  15. That shop has to be absolutely wild-ass.
  16. Goddamn this thread has been on absolute fire the last few days.
  17. @Rob I that's insane. I saw that last night and showed it to my wife. I shoulda figured it was someone on here. I also just told her the Martin dragon story since he's done her two arms. That's also so excellent. Great day.
  18. Seeing someone post that they saw Patton Oswalt recently made me jealous. But I did see Kyle Kinane last night, and it was awesome. It was the first time I've ever actually gone to a comedy club. Otherwise, I've been pretty busy with work and coaching my middle school track team lately.
  19. I don't say this to be mean, but this is your second post posting about something potentially being wrong with your tattoo. I know it's your first one and it can be nerve-wracking the first time, but perhaps a little research beforehand might have been helpful. Be patient, relax, and maybe look around before assuming something is horribly wrong.
  20. @CultExciter - For sure, and it'll probably happen at some point. I just find myself in RVA more and was hoping for a two-birds-one-stone situation. Haha.
  21. @CultExciter - yup, you're right. Sorry! Either way, he's out of RVA, which stinks. We debated trying to hit up his shop and getting something when we were down for the convention in November, but we'd spent enough already that weekend. Now I wish we had.
  22. Agreed with all of @CultExciters suggestions, although I'm pretty sure Tony Talbert isn't in RVA anymore. I think he moved to Harrisonburg.
  23. A lot of times I hate pizza tattoos and that's keeping me from getting one. But I like that a lot. Nice stuff.
