1. I actually rode a non-shaft '78 version of one of these all over the U.S. East Coast back in the day.

cool ! I've always liked the older KZ's,I had a chain version of this one years ago,it was a 80 KZ1000 MKII,loved it,went through a KZ550 & GPZ 750 before that one,then a couple harley's. now it's cool getting back to my roots on a KZ !

That's bad ass!! Post sine progress pics when you can! Seriously considering selling my CBR to build a newer style cafe bike!

yep ! looking forward to tinkering & wrenching again.I will post pics :)

2. I go nuts waiting a month and a half, let alone 2 years. Props to everyone with patience. It's a virtue, or so I hear.

I hate waiting 2 hours for anything !

I am a very impulsive and impatient person !

I have 5 months still to go after waiting 7 months already for a Phil Garcia day ,I have no idea how I am doing this one ! LOL

3. @Jnvlv - being tired doesn't matter to me, but getting cold has a huge effect so I have to stay warm (tea during breaks, warm clothing). Once I start shaking, the end is near. Shaking can be from slowly getting cold and also if you don't get some sugar in you for longer sessions. My guy says sometimes you just can't tell how you'll sit. You might have a fight with your partner and that could give you stress and make it a bad session, or it could give you some anger that can funnel into keeping you going. I'm not sure you can break everything down by basing it on everyone else's experiences, but keeping a log of what works and what doesn't work for you. I read somewhere here that hangovers definitely make it worse and sometimes food choices affect how your GI tract reacts. I have to be really careful about what I eat before and during or things can get ugly. My experience is longer sittings. The first 3 hours don't make much difference and I see that number thrown out a lot - three hours. For anything longer, that's when my planning pays off with the tea, candy, hydration, etc. Good luck!

I always try & get a good night's sleep the night before,

I pre-hydrate for a couple days before,no alcohol the day before & the day of until after the tattoo,

I eat a good healthy meal before,

I bring a small ice chest with at least 3 bottles of cold water to drink during,

I bring skittles,M&M's,a banana, and beef jerky to eat during.

you are right at least for me,keeping my sugars & proteins & potassium up helps tons.

I also drink a lemon water and take vitamins & herbal supplements daily.

I like a fan blowing near me during also,

IMO this all helps me a lot for getting tattoos.

4. I cant have laser removal right now lets be realistic is too expensive

laser removal with a pico laser for about a 2x2" piece is under $250 per treatment.

that one is all black with no blue or green & should lighten up pretty well.

not that expensive IMO

5. Hey there, so i got my tattoo like a month ago and at first I really did like it the when I saw it on the tattoo parlor but now I really don't like it. I want to add something or fix it to make ti look better. What do you guys recommend I can add or fix to make it better?

it's better than having a bad tattoo that you will have to explain what it is to everyone for eternity

6. Ehhhh, I found this thread looking for nice clothing/swimwear I can wear to show off a back piece I'm in the middle of getting. I am a relatively new (and younger) grandmother, currently handing out life lessons to my two granddaughters. They (or their parents) don't know the piece is in progress, and I've spent a fair amount of time thinking about how to talk to the girls about "grandma's stickers" (the oldest, 3, is putting stickers all over everyone's bodies and on my arms, face, etc.) I've got a couple months til May when the cat's out of the bag.

So grandma's can't wear classy open-back dresses? Open-back swimsuits?

I think I'll go get my nails done and put on my high-heeled shoes.

I know, and I usually do. Since I resurrected a sleeping thread, maybe I should have prefaced my comments with <irony=ON><sarcasm=ON>

I just though it ironic that everyone is trashing the girl for stereotypes (and she needed to be called out) but then a poster here commenting that grandmas wearing clothing to show off a tattoo are somehow incapable or unable to help raise and nurture grandchildren.

Tattooed grandmas = awesome! Hope I get to be one.
It's the most awesome thing!

Mine are 1 1/2 and 3 1/2. About a year ago, the older one saw my cat paws on my shoulder (a little memorial to my favorite little kitty - her exact prints, in the color of her paw pads, right where she used to rest her feet) and just looked at them for a minute without saying anything, then went on her way. I'm excited to see her reaction when she sees that Grandma has a WHOLE OCEAN on her back :-D

so I can vouch that a tattooed woman can be a hot granny,my wife,we have 1 & 5 yo grandkids (she looks pretty good for 54 IMO) ,

she only has a small tattoo, but she is the most loving ,nurturing, excellent grandmother ever !

#1 & 2 were in Kauai last year.

#3 & 4 were a couple years ago,way back when she was 52 LOL

7. I've heard that watercolor tattoos and tattoos with no border don't age well (although some look incredible). I like the abstract nature. I gather the top one won't read well after a short time, but what about the second one? It seems like it won't matter is much when the colors fade because there is an outline. Thoughts?

I like that HB a lot(the style),I have also seen a lot of "watercolor" style tattoos that were beautiful IMO.

IMO a tattoo without outlines it would hold up fine, being mindful to keep it out of the sun and/or slathered in spf 50.

I have some color shading portions of my tattoos that don't have black outlines that have held up just fine.Black outlines can fade & get muddled together after years too, maybe worse than color.(just my opinions)

8. HULA BUG!

She's looking far better than the last time I posted pictures. A lot of her yellow has come in and it appears as though she is a Super-Hypo. Short for super hypomelanistic leopard gecko, meaning that she has none of the spots that standard leos have, save for the tail and a few on the head/face. I'm thinking she also might be a carrot-tail (30% orange tail), cause with each shed a little more orange shows up.

Basically she is an adorable tiny dinosaur. :o

this creature is so freakin cool,we love those things, when we visit Kauai,we always love it at night when the geckos come to the insects that are attracted to the lanai lights, and literally there will be a dozen or so geckos on the screens, and maybe a couple in the house, that's good luck in that culture.they aren't leopard geckos and much smaller, but still cool.we like to just sit and watch them get the insects for their dinner ! :)

hopefully that worked.

This is my black lab, Ella. We've had her mother for 6-7 years, she's now 3 or 4. She was the runt of the litter, we hadn't planned on keeping any, but we just couldn't let her go. She's mostly very mellow, affectionate, and a bit awkward. She also looks funny in this picture, cause she tends to slumped against the couch like that, she's a bit weird. This is probably what I miss most after leaving my hometown, although she's my dog she lives at my parent's house, where she has her mother and two others to play with.

I had a female black lab for 14 years, she was the love of my life, she had a little white spot on her chest, her name was 8-ball,I have a 8-ball tattooed for her on my rt arm.I still miss her. :)

they are truly special dogs.

9. Not sure if the "spay, neuter, rescue......" part was aimed at me, but just to clarify the other three dogs (including Ella's mother are either shelter dogs, or given to us when their owners couldn't keep them. The lab was given to us, and bred because dad thought it would mature her, which it did, and all puppies had homes before the breeding. If that wasn't aimed at me, then whoops. Your mini Aussie is adorable by the way!

no, the "spay, neuter, rescue......" part was not aimed at anyone ,

sorry if you took it that way.I'm not sure why you thought that, but I didn't mean it towards you or anyone here. :(

I'm just a passionate "dog" person and I say it all the time just in general.I have a t-shirt that says it !

10. The recent activity in the "awesome things we've been doing" thread has been pretty canine based, so I figured it might be nice to a have a separate thread where we could go dog crazy... then I figured that folks probably have more diverse pets than just dogs, so I went the unbiased route and opened it up to all animals.

I'll start things off with my corgi/shiba inu mix. he's almost 4. we adopted him in Nov 2012. his name's Huckleberry. this is him after a good day at the 40 acre dog park in Redmond, WA...

I have a mini aussie,19 pnds,14" at the shoulder,she is 7 now.

11. I am in Asheville and wanting a new tatt have a small issue health wise BUT time is running out for me. I have a aggressive form of SLE lupus and just informed 2 days ago I will be starting infusion treatments again due to organ damages How could I get in contact with you to see if your willing to do? Do to the severity of the disease this is the last one I HAVE to get it's very personal and about my fight with this ruthless disease.

This will be the last tatt I will have done. Hope to hear from you soon.

what exactly are you asking for ? are you looking for the right artist ? or are you looking for help to pay for it ?

12. As for me, my now husband has passed the 90 days sober mark (longest stretch of time to date) and it's amazing how much my life has changed as a result of his sobriety. We've been going out more, spending our (his) money on mutual activities and just soaking up (real) life.

He's also agreed for us to adopt a dog this summer (the last one didn't work out for a bunch of reasons) so I'm sooo excited for that because I haven't had a dog in years.

1st is an excellent achievement !

2nd is totally the right thing to do.

all that good karma will come back to you in a positive way.

13. Are there way too many tattoos, especially on women? The body is not a mural. What's wrong with these warped pieces of garbage that they don't have any concept of what it means to be a living being? You're not a billboard that rents space for pictures of snakes and crossbones.

how is this guy not banned yet ?

or at least he should have to spend the day in a small room with a bunch of tattooed women.
