Dan got a reaction from Bexter in Not sure if Troll article or..? : University at Buffalo Op-ed
so I can vouch that a tattooed woman can be a hot granny,my wife,we have 1 & 5 yo grandkids (she looks pretty good for 54 IMO) ,
she only has a small tattoo, but she is the most loving ,nurturing, excellent grandmother ever !
#1 & 2 were in Kauai last year.
#3 & 4 were a couple years ago,way back when she was 52 LOL

Dan reacted to SeeSea in Not sure if Troll article or..? : University at Buffalo Op-ed
Ehhhh, I found this thread looking for nice clothing/swimwear I can wear to show off a back piece I'm in the middle of getting. I am a relatively new (and younger) grandmother, currently handing out life lessons to my two granddaughters. They (or their parents) don't know the piece is in progress, and I've spent a fair amount of time thinking about how to talk to the girls about "grandma's stickers" (the oldest, 3, is putting stickers all over everyone's bodies and on my arms, face, etc.) I've got a couple months til May when the cat's out of the bag.
So grandma's can't wear classy open-back dresses? Open-back swimsuits?
I think I'll go get my nails done and put on my high-heeled shoes.

I know, and I usually do. Since I resurrected a sleeping thread, maybe I should have prefaced my comments with <irony=ON><sarcasm=ON>
I just though it ironic that everyone is trashing the girl for stereotypes (and she needed to be called out) but then a poster here commenting that grandmas wearing clothing to show off a tattoo are somehow incapable or unable to help raise and nurture grandchildren.

Tattooed grandmas = awesome! Hope I get to be one.

It's the most awesome thing!
Mine are 1 1/2 and 3 1/2. About a year ago, the older one saw my cat paws on my shoulder (a little memorial to my favorite little kitty - her exact prints, in the color of her paw pads, right where she used to rest her feet) and just looked at them for a minute without saying anything, then went on her way. I'm excited to see her reaction when she sees that Grandma has a WHOLE OCEAN on her back :-D

Well, son of a bitch.

Thanks for beating me over the head with something I already knew.
But that still won't stop me from complaining that the search engine sucks. ;-)

Dan reacted to SeeSea in Watercolors and borders
Part of the problem isn't really the search engine, it's that single threads here go on to perpetuity. That's great to keep particular topics together like the backpiece experience thread, but it's terrible for sifting through search results. "Watercolor" returns a ton of threads (and that's fine) but if every thread has 100 pages and it doesn't tell me which of the 100 pages it's on ..... ugh.
And now back to your regularly scheduled program...

I have to say that this was a great response and I second your new thread idea. Thanks for making me laugh.

@gougetheeyes - oh well, I thought outlines might have helped. But gee, props to the newbie who figured out big mistake #2.
@irezumi - Thanks, the thought counts. tl;dr is better than nothing.
@CultExciter - I figured. But after wrestling with the sucky search engine again, I said screw it, let me piss off some folks and ask. Maybe there should be a section here called, "Shit that's been beaten into the ground".
@Tesseracts - wow - both are pretty wild. I wasn't looking specifically for birds - they just happened to be two of the first examples I saw that illustrated my question when I was surfing. I wasn't implying I *liked* either one in particular. I was reading about tebori when you posted your tattoo - neat. I really like the transitions - it's more like a painting like you mentioned. Thanks for giving your perspective and giving examples - something to keep in my head for next time. (Oops, did you just put a thought in my head for a third one? O_o)
@Colored Guy - agreed.
Thanks, all.

I had a painting instructor who does really nice paintings. He's also a tattoo artist. However his tattoos don't look like his paintings at all. There must be a reason for that. Here are his paintings and here are his tattoos. They're different styles and they emphasize different things.
I love paint and I love the way paint looks, but human skin isn't like paper or canvas. I don't think it's just a matter of fading, some things look better on a flat computer screen than they look on an arm.
It seems to be that the best way to get something that looks like a painting on your skin, is to find a good tebori artist. For example, this bird by Horimasa has really nice subtle color transitions, more like a painting than like most tattoos. I also like how well white comes out with tebori.
Dotwork tattoos also look kind of like drawings or illustrations to me, here is one by Valentin Hirsch.

We've got four cats and two dogs. Like others, there's far too many favourite photos to choose from.
However, this week I'm going to see the highly excellent Monster Truck play in Glasgow, so here's Jorja rocking one of their T-shirts. Because - well, why not. :D

She looks really happy! She's got that cute little smile... in the first one she looks like she's up to something. How cute.

@Dan totally! I used to travel to Maui a lot when I was a kid, I remember seeing the same thing. Super cool!
@iowagirl I love her fat tail, it is soft and squishy and excellent.

hopefully that worked.
This is my black lab, Ella. We've had her mother for 6-7 years, she's now 3 or 4. She was the runt of the litter, we hadn't planned on keeping any, but we just couldn't let her go. She's mostly very mellow, affectionate, and a bit awkward. She also looks funny in this picture, cause she tends to slumped against the couch like that, she's a bit weird. This is probably what I miss most after leaving my hometown, although she's my dog she lives at my parent's house, where she has her mother and two others to play with.

This guy, only been a week since we adopted him but he's such a great tempered dog. It's been over 15 years since I last had a companion. He is also like a service dog for people that haven't experienced icy footpaths/sidewalk before (ie. me!)
Anybody ever DNA test a mixed rescue to see what it is? I'm really curious based on him displaying a number of different behaviors I would normal associate with a particular breed. He points like a retriever but walks like a beagle, nose to the ground. It doesn't really matter to me but I am interested. At the moment I just say he's half lab, all awesome.

HULA BUG!
She's looking far better than the last time I posted pictures. A lot of her yellow has come in and it appears as though she is a Super-Hypo. Short for super hypomelanistic leopard gecko, meaning that she has none of the spots that standard leos have, save for the tail and a few on the head/face. I'm thinking she also might be a carrot-tail (30% orange tail), cause with each shed a little more orange shows up.
Basically she is an adorable tiny dinosaur. :o

Oops, my bad. I misunderstood, probably because I generally prefer people to rescue rather than breed, as we have always done before this. The internet is always hard for me, no inflections to help guess the tone of messages

sorry if you took it that way.I'm not sure why you thought that, but I didn't mean it towards you or anyone here. :(
I'm just a passionate "dog" person and I say it all the time just in general.I have a t-shirt that says it !
