nomadland got a reaction from ShyGypsy in Face/Head Tattoo
Was searching through the forum and couldn't find a thread on this specifically.
In the process of extending my neck tattoo's up onto the back of my head and maybe in the future extending these to the front of my face.
Just to a nip the inevitable 'the face/head is a huge step', 'will change your life/appearance/people's opinions of you' in the bud, I have over 200 hours of work currently on me including hands, neck and one below my left eye, I know what I getting into.
any others out there with face/head tattoo's or thinking of getting them?
if you do have them what's the pain like? what was the experience like? if not but are planning to get them what designs/styles are you looking at?
    Lets have a discussion..
    Cheers,
    Oz

not sure if this has been mentioned already but the knee (specifically the back) was one of the most painful places I have tattooed (worse than the ribs etc). Not for the faint hearted.
    Good luck,

To be fair to Jun as id like to think I no him well, I don't think he would ever use it in the ways you are suggesting are possible, it was as I said more of legal disclaimer regarding health issues etc rather than about copyright, ownership etc. Although this of course was included.
I totally agree with your points and scary thoughts though, but perhaps its just a sign of the times.

    Hi all
Thought I'd give you a little update on the phoenix tattoo that is slowly (but surely!) taking shape on my back. It is very much a personal celebration of triumph over adversity (when you lose everything that is familiar to you, you almost experience a rebirth of sorts, I find). We have all gone through tough times and these experiences usually give us a chance to learn lessons about ourselves and our reactions, re-awakening our ability to grow. The phoenix to me is a symbol of strength, resurrection and survival, and now a permanent reminder that I am stronger than I think :-) It is my first tattoo so please be gentle :-p

sorry going to have to disagree with you here..
Tipping is a custom invented by big business so they don't have to pay you a decent hourly wage.
    - - - Updated - - -
Don't bow to the resident bully's pressure mate.
Ive from OZ and have got over 200 hours from an American artist in the US and never once tipped!
Artists also need to understand that clients from other places might not know or understand local customs and be understanding of that. Generally speaking any US artist worth travelling to get a piece off from half a world away charges very high hourly rates for this exact reason. A rate that usually prices out most US citizens as there minimum wage is quite a bit lower.
edit. If the poster in question spent the same amount of time on getting better at tattooing, rather than posting on here, he might not have to whinge and bitch about not getting tipped as he could charge a higher hourly rate.

Different cultures, different expectations I s'pose.
See, in Australia - well my generation anyway, we show respect a complete different way, through gesture.
I tip my tattooer every week! with a couple ice cold ones & a chat before we begin. Old time respect ;) Fuck! we don't even like talking money. We do it once & move on :)

don't shave. If you do it yourself its possible that the area could develop a rash etc before you get to the artist in question. If its the legs for men, you can clipper it beforehand but don't razor it, let the artist do that

I like that piece, Jun Cha on Matt Kemp I think..
as much as I like the tat it wouldn't work as a cover up as your artwork is already so black..
'white' tribal is probably the worst thing to try and cover up, if I was you, go the laser route, then go for the cover up..

Yeah, it is a wide array of styles.
The artist I go to freestyled (edit: freehanded) my left arm to tie in my Megadeth tattoo with my Live Free or Die tattoo, neither of which he did to begin with. He will be the only one touching my skin from here on out.
That's why I haven't nailed down specifics, plus the artist will branch out and do things on his own when he actually sits down and is working in my skin. He is brutally honest if something won't work....I guess it helps that we were friends before he started working on me.

@ Keekatzz. We all have a different mindset why we choose to tattoo. When you have a different kind of motivation, you must expect not to receive the feedback you were probably looking for.
I don't explain my mindset why I do what I do, & I don't expect to understand your motivation.
I got my first tattoos at 17, which I still have & still love. I wouldn't get them now, but I wouldn't cover them also.
Some though, I have. Faaarkin, who cares.
If your dead set on leopard print down the back. Do it. Just do your research with a tattooer who can execute the design solid & kick arse.
You see, for most of us, the back tattoo is prime real estate and holds a very special meaning to us, but your motivation to tattoo is different to those of us who understand this, so walk the path you feel you need to.
    Good luck with it.

The whole idea that we can't talk about hand tattoos on a tattoo forum because the OP didn't have enough tattoos or experience to deserve them is utter BS...

Don't get me wrong mate you raise some valid points here..
Not a gripe at you personally but the amount of self righteousness and self entitlement that pervades this forum is ridiculous...yes I have a lot of tattoos but no I don't think that because of that I have more right to talk about tattoos or get certain types or places tattooed..I think ull find that there are plenty of cleanskins more knowledgable about tattoos than 99.9% of those who are heavily tattooed..the forum police on here need to get a fucking life and stop acting like tattoos are some form of sacred entitlement that only those who embrace the culture can understand...tattooing is as natural to humans as breathing and yes I'm sorry to all on here that tattooing has gone from a sub culture to mainstream but word of advice get the fuck over it...

Cheers Josh. Appreciate the comments mate, thank you.
Yeah man, live in Brisbane..and I ride a HD.
When we ride now, and the fellas I ride and camp out with take off for a run, part of the pre run conversation is....what we tell the pigs if we get intercepted. We hit runs northern NSW and shit, so pretty good once ya cross the border.
Been hassled a little bit, but if ya play it cool and know ya rights ya pretty set.
Not so easy for anyone who's been named in the "26" that are just motorcycle enthusiasts.
All this with luck should get over turned at the high court.
    Where are you mate?
Hours under the machine...I really don't know mate. Arms all re sleeved, decided to punch in real heavy with a solid black background mainly for that very reason of re working the arms. I'd take a rough punt and say 300 plus, from the waist to the ankles is as heavy as the torso.
Sorry for straying off topic here to the thread starter. As stated, best of luck with it. Suit it up!

    Hayden,
Jun's pieces are the only ones I have..I followed his progress from my mid to late teens and basically said to myself I'm going to get tattooed by him no matter the time or cost. His super hard to get accepted by and given I live in OZ his also really far away and really expensive comparatively...
So far I'm happy with the process/tattoos and I highly recommend him to anyone interested in B&G..

    Just a quick intro,
24 years old and have been interested in tattoos since my mid teens. Have been getting tattooed for about 3 years now by Jun Cha. In the process of getting a left arm sleeve, a right arm forearm sleeve and a backpiece from Jun, if anyone knows anything about him you also know that this will probably take me 10-15 years to complete. Love all tattoo styles but have a particular interest in black and grey/chicano style. Have joined the forum to discuss tattoos with like minded people, especially those who have travelled far and wide to get tattoos from artists you love.
    Regards
