1. Thanks for the replies, guys! Yes @Lance, I was planning on it being my right leg.... d'oh!

Will look into white willow bark.

And a skirt rather than my regular jeans.

Will plan to whine a lot at rest stops or skip them altogether if at all possible.

The third day wouldn't be any better would it? May as well just get home.

Willow bark is a natural version of ASA/ Aspirin which would be helpful for pain and circulation. Aspirin will likely work faster.

I haven't had leg tattoos by the boy has and most of his discomfort came when getting up or stopping when walking - long sitting should be fine - it's just when the blood flow rushed to his legs that he had a rough time.

  2. It's only day two, so this could be totally normal, but the red 'sunburned feeling' area around the tattoo is spreading outwards, in some places a good 4 inches beyond the tattoo.

Is this just a typical reaction, or do I need to go back and see my tattooist?

    Thanks

My arm swelled and bruised pretty intensely - likely the same. Like anything keep an eye on it.

  3. I've had unwanted attention over the years - though not recently living in Toronto as it's a big city with a lot of tattoos. When I lived in the interior of BC I got a lot more unwanted attention. But with my new arm piece I'm expecting for the grabbing to restart.

On a related issue I'm working at a big (2000 guests) academic conference here in the city next month and have to wear a conference T-Shirt (ick), which of course means cardigan and long sleeve shirt while I'm on the desk. Though many of the academics there will be awesome I know there are always the silverbacks that I don't want judging me and my CV by the ink I've chosen (and LOVE). Been a long time since I've had to think about covering from a uniform. My students did get to see my (healing) ink last week as it was just too hot during their exam and I took my cardigan off because I was dying. Luckily reviews are already in and I don't care :). I did get to sneak in a tutorial about tattooing in WWI and WWII - now they know why!

  4. Boom!!

That's a fantastic tattoo! Love the goldfish!!

Got my koi done today finally. We didn't go all the way around the back this time, the tattooist thought it would be better to wait until I extend it down to the forearm to do that. The colours don't look that great in the photo- irl they are far brighter. Need to take a daytime + healed photo at some point. 7.5 hours.

Lovely!! Your daughter must love seeing this!

  5. And on another note: Mummies/Mommies with tattoos... my 10 year old daughter imagined the tattoo I am getting tomorrow would be smaller. Now that she has realised I am getting my upper arm covered she is upset. I asked her why she is upset and she said "Because I want a normal mummy!".

    Heart -broken-.

I remember crying when my mom cut off all her hair - kids resist change. It took me about 10 minutes to forget all about it. She'll love how pretty your arm looks. Good luck with it!

  6. Any artists you recommend personally from PHGS? I want to show him portfolios to get his opinion on how he feels about it.

What style is he interested in? They are all great I can say this with certainty as anyone there I or Mark Bee hasn't been personally tattooed by I've spent a good deal of time watching while hubby was being worked on.

  7. Also like anything with T1 placement of injuries is key - I'd be careful with tattooing extremities like feet (just the same as being careful with blisters etc is part of normal care.) also I'd second the Pearl - I'm a client there and they are great.

  8. Oh God. Its true. I've recently moved to a large warehouse loft and my first thought was that I could build kitty-infrastructure like that. I may have to hit the hardware store on the way home.

We are ridiculous. Our littlest cat was scared by a bug the other night. His tail went all poofy and my wife and I went rushing over to console him. Over a bug. A small bug.

    Sigh.

He's speaks truth - I am not (ok a little) ashamed. But this little guy was scared - how could you not want to cuddle him!

  9. I am so tempted to make an appt with Chad in June but I realy need to practice self control and save up a lot more $ for finishing my Henning thigh tiger in Sept/Oct and my Rubendall project next year.

Not to be an enabler but Chad's Instagram comments seem to indicate he's going to slow down on the travel ;) not sure if that influences your appointment making.

  10. I have one really bad tattoo... It's on my ankle, it's small, old, faded, fuzzy and almost impossible to recognize. I got it as a skate punk kid way back when I was underage, in a biker shop, in 1990. It was destined to be questionable.

Needless to say I was surprised when I hesitantly showed it/ talked about it to the artists at the Pearl (while @Mark Bee and I were getting work done) not only were they enthusiastic about my weird little blotch but told me to never cover it - because old crappy tattoos (depending on subject matter of course) are their own kind of awesome. Funny that they appreciated my youthful folly - which I'm sure is helped by my acquisition of several new and particularly awesome tattoos.

Or I suppose I could always blast over it with a panther :)

  11. I was supposed to start my back piece tomorrow. But I got sicker than I've been in the last decade this week and had to cancel. Absolutely gutted. Its bad enough I feel like a bag of shit with the flu, but to miss this just pisses me off no end. Insert long string of curses here.

Lots of Sad Panda this week - poor guy - this was a killer plague - now we're just hoping I haven't picked it up!

  12. After years of trying my To persuade my wife to get a dog. I finnally got a dog it's a French bulldog if just 12 weeks old and it's just awesome he is so damn cute I am in love.

Yup that is pretty much the cutest thing I've seen today. What a sweetie!

  13. Sounds interesting. I looked for fabrics and there seems to be a lot of controversy about companies selling fabric that isn't actually bamboo. Do you have a brand that you could recommend?

The shop I bought my wraps at unfortunately went under with the recession, so I don't have any specific recommendations - I'll keep an eye out though.
