  1. Currently using Proraso and the Merkur Futur adjustable.
  2. Who would want to take out the tattooer in all of this anyway? No one I know. That's for damn sure.
  3. Welcome to LST, @Phenixone ! We all love great tattoos as much as you do. Thanks for sharing your tattoos and stories with us.
  4. Mark, I'd be interested in hearing the story behind your first tattoo. Shit. kids these days go to the first person their friends say is cool. Stories from the older heads are always appreciated on my side.
  5. @Graeme I kind of want to read Open City after reading some of the quotes on Tumblr. I'm in my early twenties, as you referenced. Save me from myself! HAHA!
  6. I'm not gonna lie. I bought a Nickleback CD in middle school. After those photos, I question my 12 year-old judgment.
  7. My grandpa braught a few of those home from the Philippines. My dad has one, and I think my uncle has the other one. Shits are sharp as fuck.
  8. I was once told, by one of my favorite people in tattooing and a gentleman and scholar, that you are paying for the experience just as much as the tattoo with the top notch tattooers today. I think collectors respect that. I think most people who are dedicating themselves to getting tattooed to full coverage are bringing something that we saw with Bert and Amund and George in the eighteenth and early twentieth centuries. You see so many photos of people tattooed solely by those people, where today people would say, oh this is my tattooer, or I only trust this guy. I like that sentiment, unless of course you are the classic tattooee who only trusts some scratcher because he or she gives you a shit tattoo for less money than it would be to go to a professional. Collectors are all okay in my book, although I am not a tattooer.
  9. Hector from Tattoo 13 once posted a roasted dog that he saw in Asia at some open market. Of course, if you know anything about Hector, even from Instagram, he is a dog lover to the end. He was just traveling there, but that shit hit home hard for me. Show's what's changed. People like Roy Boy. To people like Hector. If you say tattoo magic is gone, I don't know where your head is.
  10. @cltattooing is finishing my Saint Death tattoo on Wednesday. Been waiting rather impatiently for this.
  11. I think @cltattooing is on the right track with the meet-up.
  12. I was over at this dude's house today, hanging out and listening to music. He was showing me some of his tattoos. There was a Viking skull that seems like it's decent from a distance, but up close has flaws. It was done by a dude who I'm sure went through a half assed apprenticeship if he went through one at all. Biker shop kinda guy. Anyway, I think the tattooer was a Hell's Angel, because he had a support your local red and white flash sheet in his shop (I saw a photo of him in it today). But, the dude whose house I was at said that he saw the guy hit a dude with a baseball bat in the back of the head while he was tattooing him. Dragged the guy out back in the middle of the session apparently. I got invited to the shop in Redding today. Apparently their going up there this weekend, but I am definitely declining. I'd rather not get mixed up with Hell's Angels and assault, trafficking, etc. Made me grateful, as @smilingpolitely said, for the changes. I probably wouldn't have been acquaintances with half the people I have met if they hadn't changed and gotten at least a little straightened out. I was a straight letter kinda kid, and I think it's influenced my tastes. I got into some trouble, but no jail time or parole or anything.
  13. Saw some old Phil Simms tattoos today on an old bearded guy. He said he got them in Belmont. I forgot to ask when he got them, but they looked like they were from the 80s.
  14. Welcome to the coolest forum on four wheels.
  15. Maybe I'm the minority here, but I think flowers should be kept separated by tradition in large scale Japanese work. They look so good that way.
  16. Experimental Japanese poppy hip hop "dedicated to the Freewheelin' Bob Dylan."
  17. Just had this conversation with my mom and sisters.
  18. I went to Flask Mob on friday at Golden Gate Park. It's a monthly SF meeting/photo-walk for photographers and young creatives. Had a blast. It was raining on and off, but no one minded, and everyone I met was super nice. Got some photos for the zine that I'm working slowly but surely on. Ended up making a mini road trip at the end of the night, down to Santa Cruz. Good times.
  19. They're there now, but they definitely weren't before, and not just on my posts. Thanks, @steve1461686340
  20. The Like and Share button on the Our Bad Tattoos thread isn't there for some reason. Haven't noticed it elsewhere, though.
  21. @irezumi Awesome story and a great piece of tattoo history. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Changed my insta name to dejavu1221 for all of those who follow.
