What do you like to listen to when you get tacked, or are tattooing?

I'm into some slow sleepy metal. I dunno why, it's not my genre of choice usually, but it somehow just makes sense around tattoos...

Huero- welcome to the site and contributing some great content to other threads and diving in with starting this thread.

I tend just to listen to whatever is on and not weigh-in with my preferences though if I did it would be punk or hardcore more times than not. Often times at many of the shops I've been to the various tattooers rotate choices every album or thirty minutess or what-have-yous-system so it tends to be all over the place with genres and always entertaining, both pleasant and less pleasant but tolerable. For anyone that's done some time at Blackheart knows what I mean. Below I've placed some links to other LST threads with similar topics in case anyone wants to weigh in over there as well!

Here's a Similar thread

Here is one on Punk Rock & Tattoos

This is on Band &/or Song Tattoos

Thanks again for diving right into the site with positivity!

Until next time.......

The shop that has done my two pieces plays satellite radio. The first time it was 70's classic rock, the second was alternative. Both worked well for me. I did go to one shop while I was deciding on a shop that was pumping hip hop at high volume, and I have to admit that turned me off on the shop. Of course, none of the artists' portfolios at that shop moved me, or I would have overcome the tunage....

I think the best is always fast, when I have chosen it has been Judge (and it played like 5 times, best time tattooed ever), Integrity, Descendents, Misfits...

The worst music I have ever been tattooed while playing is Tortoise. Hands down, so slow and repetative ugh.

I like getting tattooed by Rob Hostetter, cause it is a good mix of Punk, Hardcore, and Soul. Goes from Bob Marley rarities and the like into Chain Of Strength. One time we listened to AC/DC's greatest hits like 3 times in a row, that was a fun session.

Most places it is hardcore, punk, metal, etc... I don't really care as long as tattoo artist is happy. I tend to zone out while getting tattooed so its not a big concern. The guy I go to most often has a mix of Beatles, Sabbath, Stereolab, Black Flag, Dr. Dog, King Giant, Queens of the Stone Age. As long as I don't have to listen to Justin Beiber or some bullshit like that, Im good.

    • Honestly, as far as I know it looks pretty solid. I could not imagine it without any black around. I mean, it is a cool piece, without this background the white wolf could not be so cool to watch. A week ago I got my forearm tattoed too with a wolf, and the artist just did an absolute masterpiece. He hasn't told me that he wanted to use that much black, but he just went straight. The result is simply amazing, now that it is healing the wolf is like a pencil draw, and the black around gives prominence to the wolf face.  Anyway, as the others said, just deal with it, I guess you will like it way much more once it will be healed! (sorry for my bad english)
    • I would not recommend trying to use another artist's design. There's about a 90% chance that a quality artist won't want to do it, and a tattooist who would wouldn't be up to the task. Meantime with respect to traditional in your immediate area here is a very short list: https://www.instagram.com/stefanpauli/ https://www.instagram.com/christianhensen/ https://www.instagram.com/flashtilldeath/ https://www.instagram.com/tobias_tietchen/ https://www.instagram.com/alex_sances_one/
    • Because that's what it is. Glad you get that, @Wolves.
