I've had issues with red ink.. (itchy/ allergic to sulfa used in some inks..found out the hard way)
Funny, some assjack told me the opposite.
Then again my mom always said I walked around leaning to my left side because my right side didn't have any tattoos..
(she was also quite upset when I went ahead and corrected that issue by getting my right side tattooed)

That's actually been a sore subject for me the last 2 years. When I started dating my ex I had already gotten my first tattoo, and wanted more. Through the first year of us being together I continued to get tattoos to which he helped me design them, take care of them (back peice) and encouraged me to go for an apprenticeship (thats another story)
Any way fast forward a bit and one of his final reasons for breaking up with me was because of my tattoos, suddenly he no longer liked the looks of girls with tattoos (he had none of his own) and decided to throw 2 years down the drain.
Any more I make it sort of a standard to even consider dating a guy that he must have at least 2 tattoos. Other wise I get almost the same reaction as i got from my ex.

Pocket watches... and Belt buckles. No I'm not from texas haha. My dad gave me his pocket watch that belonged to his dad, and while I was out in Colorado I got two more. As well as about 4 or 5 belt buckles. Nothing fancy but they have a meaning. :) I even incorporated the pocket watch from my dad into his memorial tattoo :)

I was 18 when I got my first, managed to hide it from my mom for a week when we changed the sheets and I realized i had gotten blood on the sheet.. perfect print of the tattoo itself. My ex drove me down to some location in Philly.. Walked in and he pretty much said we weren't leaving till I picked something off the wall. Coney Island Joes was the name of the shop and Joe (or his son) had just gotten out of jail. Something to do with Hells Angels
Yeah. First and last time I went there, that tattoo still bothers me, swells up and gets irritated every once in a while. Crappy piece of tribal..
the picture is from a few hours after it was finished... I should take a picture of it now, so you can see how crappy it is haha

    Cool thread!
That first piece is killer, but her right hand and left arm looks a little bit strange to me. Maybe just the picture, or maybe just me... I don't know. The piece as a whole looks really bad-ass though!
Most of you have already seen my front piece, but I found a better picture of it on Marius' blog a while back, so here's to those who haven't seen it already (sorry about the insane size of the photo)

Hi everyone. I enjoy lurking this forum and wanted to show off my finished back tattoo, completed courtesy Dave Kotinsley at Anthem Tattoo. The original outline was put on about 20 years ago by... uhhh... let's just say it was someone who stuck with it and evolved into an excellent legitimate tattooer and leave it at that. Anyway, I walked around with a scarred-up, blown-out scribble on my back for about 16 years before convincing Dave to redo everything and finish it up. Last sitting was last week. I couldn't be happier - when I was a kid I saw a pic of Rollo's famous Godzilla tattoo on Prince Hughes and thought, "That's the kind of thing I need on me." I walked around with a hot mess for a long time, never thinking I'd be able to do anything with it, so to get it finished is a real treat.

After 52 years on the planet with no tattoos what so ever, my girlfriend decided out of the blue this past Saturday that for St Patrick's day she'd get a shamrock and 3 ladybugs, on her butt. She actually went through with it and sat like a trooper.
There won't be any pictures of hers, but since she did it I got this little guy as a memento of one of the most awesome days I've ever spent with her.

My first tattoo was done when I was 15. A tattooer called Steve, as far as I can remember, in Bath.
My first visit to the shop was with a couple of pals. I went first, I think we all decided on a swallow on the forearm. Anyway I had a bit of a rash on my forearm. The tattooer asked me about the rash. I said it was probably a sun rash. He said ok come back when it's gone. So my first visit ended in bitter disappointment. The next in the chair was my mate Pete. He always fancied himself as a bit of a tough guy, but he was looking very nervous. So the tattooer started the tattoo. He did the outline on this tiny tattoo and was about to start on the colour when my mate said " you don't have to colour it in do you". The tattooer, looking rather puzzled said "no not if you don’t want me to". We really took the piss out him on the train on the way home. What a pussy.
I went back a few weeks later with two pals and we all had the same deaths head tattoo on our forearm. Ones now dead the other had his covered. So mines the only one left. That was 41 years ago and I still love that tattoo. So much so that I booked Alex Binnie to recreate the tattoo on my upper leg on April 13th.

Finally got in to the shop, finishing my Banshee on May 10th, got put on a call list if there is a sooner opening. Wanna knock this one out so I can start plotting my back piece. We're thinking it may be done in two more sessions as we have to do the veil, her neck and neck lace. And then the back ground which is essentially my entire arm. I can't wait, its been to long..

I know exactly what you mean. Isn't it crazy how "covered" you look in the mirror at first? Then, after a few months, you don't really notice anything but the blank spots.
