Yeah, Woody does tattoos, but he's more of a cartoonist. The interviewer isn't the only twat in the frame.
So a famously publicity hungry tattooer, who's notoriously fond of gimmicks invests in a super-deluxe tattoo removal lazer. Because he had virtually no tattoos already, he tattoos deliberately inflammatory statements on himself then does a photo shoot and speaks to every interviewer who'll listen.
No prizes for guessing what publicity grabbing event happens next...
Yeah, this is the same tattooer who called a client and offered to tattoo the Jacko arrest photo with the words "Peado Cunt" FOR FREE.
Although the client was a fool to accept the offer, he was a young student with little money who liked tattoos. Who, in that situation would refuse a funny, free tattoo? That client has since had a massive coverup of a traditional eagle.
Woody also tattoos drunk metalheads for free at the UK Download festival.
I'm a tattooer. Woody does tattoos.
We are not doing the same thing. Irresponsible is the kindest thing I can say about his work and work ethic.

Find good reference and use it a lot. Don't worry so much about creating something that is "yours" as reproducing quality imagery. Don't listen to the folks who praise you. If someone says something isn't good see if they will tell you why. Good luck.

Stewart Robson reacted to Graeme in 1964 TV interview with Doc Forbes
Needles and Sins pointed out this gem, a CBC television interview with Doc Forbes from 1964.
CBC Digital Archives - Pastimes General - Doc Forbes, tattoo artist
The interviewer talks with Forbes and his clients, we get some nice looks at his tattoos and his flash, but the coolest thing about the interview for me is near the end when Forbes is tattooing an 82 year old client who has really extensive work from George Burchett including a battle royale backpiece from 1906.
I've posted this picture before, but I'm a bit of a nerd about tattoo history and when I was visiting my family in Vancouver last Christmas I made an appointment with Chris Hold at Sacred Heart Tattoo so that me and @Pugilist could get matching tattoos from some Forbes flash. What could be better as a souvenir tattoo in Vancouver than a design from Doc Forbes? Chris was amazing and super accommodating about fitting us in on short notice, and the tattoos are great, so simple, folky, and charming. Chris had also fairly recently visited Lyle Tuttle, who has a pretty huge collection of Forbes' flash, and we got to see scans Chris had made of it and there's a lot of really great designs in there.

Lucky's Tattoo Museum also has scans of a bunch of his flash that you can view here.

I finally did it. I converted the PAL DVD to NTSC so that North American, Canadian, Japanese and the rest of South American tat fans can watch the DVD in the comfort of not-in-front-of-a-computer - such a thing does exist.

You can buy it from store.copperheadeditions.com
Also a friendly reminder that you can stream a HD version at the Copperhead Editions site too - this version is just the documentary without bonus features but it's in HD so you can see all my shaky camera work!
Thanks to everyone for the support and patience with this project.

Late-night typing isn't my strong point. but yeah, Part Two is finished. The next DVD will be done when Part Three is finished (so don't hold your breath it could be 1-4 months)
The original streaming service I used turned out to be pretty amateur-ish so I moved to Vimeo - you need to sign up but it's a much easier process once you do - you can download to own and I've set the rental period to 1 month.
Thanks again for the interest. I think this one is a little more entertaining and positive than Part One - please spread the word...

Stewart Robson got a reaction from Nate Pea in Areas of your body you WON'T tattoo
I probably won't tattoo my face, save for small parts extending from my hairline. I doubt I'll get my ballsack, perineum or arse hole tattooed. Weiner tattoos are too amusing to say never, but I probably won't. I don't have any desire to get the tips of my fingers tattooed either, or between my toes. Fuck that.
Stuff I won't tattoo on you: Genitals or anywhere in your mouth (except people I know, if they are not creepy)
That's pretty much it, although I refuse to tattoo plenty of stuff based on personal circumstance. I'm probably not gonna do your first tattoo on your palm or eyelid.
Stuff I don't really like tattooing: Lips, eyelids, fingers (+thumbs), ears, elbow, throat, under the chin. I do most of them regularly but they are the type of thing you don't always want to do at the end of a long, busy day.

Stewart Robson got a reaction from Euchlid in Tattoo Cover Up Pictures, Before and After
I don't have any cover-ups on my body but I tattoo a hell of a lot of them.
Most of the larger work that I do (bigger than 1/2 sleeve) usually incorporates some kind of cover-up.
I started to make a point of NOT taking a 'before' picture. Sometimes I do, but I found that the cover-up requests got bigger and bigger the more cover-ups I showed. Covering a half sleeve sized tattoo with a full sleeve compromises the end product but I sometimes enjoy the challenge and the problem-solving aspect of it.
This is one of the more tricky ones from last year or so, when I used to take 'before' photos:

I got an email today asking if I could cover a full sleeve - with a sleeve.
