  1. didnt i notice that you posted in another thread, that you didnt have any tattoos but wanted a sleeve? You really should learn to swim before diving into the deep end.

Maybe he could buy a kit and give himself a sleeve!

  2. if you go to the link of the artist's page, there are even worse than the steeler's tattoo. Honestly it is ridiculous how bad these are.

Does anyone know if this is a joke? It's hard to believe that anyone would put something so bad on Facebook. Well, I wish it was hard to believe ...

  3. Sailor Jerry had some flash that was like that (but I think it was taken from a lot of other artists as well). I can't find any in web search right now, so I'll scan one of my flash books when I get a chance.

Thanks. I found a couple of examples after more searching, but most of the wolves are more realistic than traditional.

  4. I'm currently finishing a sleeve, but my next tattoo is going to be a wolf theme. I started thinking about a wolf head on my calf, then a whole wolf, then a wolf and a panther, then a wolf chasing a panther around my leg, then a wolf head and lady head with Indian headdress, then ...

You get the idea. Over thinking it again. It's not easy being me. I've been looking at pics. At least I've got it narrowed down to traditional rather than realistic. I have two more sessions on my sleeve, then I'll probably get the wolf done next January or February.

  5. oh, big surprises in store people...Jesse Smith wins....call me psychic. I know the competition looks tough ( rolls eyes ) ....and I dont even like "new school" but I won't deny talent. This whole thing seems like a rigged competition in order to be a drawn out TV commercial for the 1 dude with true skills.

These shows are bad news for ethical tattooist who actually care about the industry.

terrible. I can't even express how miserable this whole thing is.

If the show was loaded with awesome artist, I would be singing a different tune. But, well, I suppose it is like hoping to see a real life unicorn...it just is not gonna happen.

Sorry if I offend anyone, not my intention....getting people to be more critical of bad tattooing and ethical tattooing IS my intention. These shows cheapen the whole thing by putting bone-head hacks on a pedestal and calling them "worlds best"....

I feel kind of bad for the people getting tattooed, although they should know what they are getting in to. I wouldn't care who was tattooing me for free; I don't want someone rushing through it to beat a clock. I want the artist's best work and I don't care how long it takes.

  6. Relevant True Story: I was recently getting tattooed by Chad at the Cleveland convention and he was talking about full back+butt pieces and how he thought they looked dumb if they didn't go allllll the way into the butt crack. You heard it here first: Chad Koeplinger will tattoo in and around your butthole.

I don't care how many times you run that tattoo machine through the autoclave ... :-)

  7. @Jake Anderson that's probably one of the most sensible replies about the issue I've ever read. Though I'm not religious myself, it's always good to see people who can practice theirs in a moderate, not-completely-batshit-crazy way. Keep up the good work.

It's all about context. Jesus' message about love your neighbor is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. With refrigeration, abstaining from shell fish is not so relevant. With overpopulation, go forth and multiply - not so relevant. Tattoos - with the Jews mixing with the gentiles - not so relevant. Ban on homosexuality - never was relevant :-)

  8. Being someone that has been on the hiring side, tattoos or not you are at the mercy of the other person's prejudices and opinions. Between me talking with other hiring personnel and thinking about candidates, I can say I've caught some weird prejudices about people during hiring. Although sometimes what is accepted as a normally good trait, sometimes can but a negative. In my sister's field someone that comes off as more bubbly and "creative" (whatever that means) will get picked over a stiff in a suit, but the opposite is in my field. Crew cut hair and expensive suits rule my world.

Good point, even though I have a sleeve and pony tail, I'm an IT manager. All other things being equal, I'll hire someone who looks like they can think outside the box over some clean-cut, kiss-ass weenie in dockers and a polo shirt. Stick it to the man!

  9. I believe that I have every right to get tattooed, regardless of my gender.

    Correct.

I have every right to get a job that I am qualified for, regardless of my appearance.

Wrong. Unfortunately when you have visible tattoos, you put yourself at the mercy of the person who's doing the hiring's prejudices. You may have the best qualifications of all the candidates, and still not get hired. It may not be fair, but that's how it is.

  10. I'm 30 years old. I put myself through college. But when it comes to tattoos, my folks treat me like I'm 16-years-old.

Bad news - I'm 54 and they still treat me like that. I love my mother and sister but when it comes to my tattoos then can A) like them or B) shut the fuck up about it. Unfortunately, they pick option C, which is to NOT like them and NOT shut the fuck up about it. :-)

  11. "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." - Mahatma Gandhi

I forget who said it but Christianity is the religion about Jesus, not the religion of Jesus. Most Christians that I've met don't know the difference.

If you believe the bible, Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.” Often Christianity seems more like an expression of hate and punishment than of love. I don't see a whole lot of Christians acting like Christ.
