  1. i don't have Vice TV included with my cable anymore, but luckily this is on youtube. there are parts of this episode that might really piss you off, but there are other parts that are positive and even a bit heartwarming. either way, even this first episode i've seen has shown a nice peek into the various worlds and stories within tattooing. i'm looking forward to seeing more.
  2. Per the forum guidelines: Do not start threads asking about specific tattooing equipment or techniques, LST is not here to teach anyone how to tattoo. Ask your own tattooer, the next time you are getting tattooed. Maybe they'll answer you, maybe they won't.
  3. @littlefox1970 that looks like it was painful as hell... you must've been in quite the meditative state! i'm interested to see how it heals.
  4. Nice response @cavies. does the start of this full sleeve have photos you're ready to share, or are you waiting for the right moment? ;)
  5. i'm thinking your other thread re: this same tattoo trumps this thread.
  6. hey @Youngjason... seems like your mind is made up, so our opinions on the situation aren't really changing much. but all is not lost! there are plenty of threads on LST that can help you out. search around and find some answers. here's a few threads you can start to pull. use the search function. keep pullin the sweater. best of luck!
  7. welcome to LST! looking forward to seeing some of your work.
  8. best thing to do is find an artist whose work achieves what you're looking to get, preferably in your area. then all they have to do is do what they do! bring in a reference picture of the style you want and tell them what you're looking to get. where are you located?
  9. exactly. a full sleeve would likely be cheaper and less painful, but definitely look way better than laser removal. think thru this next decision carefully and learn from your past. maybe get something positive that balances the negative energy you're feeling and make it BIG! that'll make your current tattoo relatively smaller and it'll be allllll goooooood. best of luck and welcome to LST!
  10. received my copy today!.. can't wait to dive in!!
  11. @Oiocha woulda been cool if you coulda made it during the Bay Area Convention Feb 17-19th! What are you planning to get?
  12. nice shot, @Iwar ! @ItsNewport this is awesome. i go with the ol' hat over the face when it's bad enough to grimace.
  13. I was going thru some old photos and I came across this album from the "Beware! the Yokai" show back in Oct 2014 at Empire Seven Studios in SJ, put on by Chris Brand and State of Grace. Thought I'd share. FYI... These are completely unedited. Sorry. Not sorry. Enjoi
  14. Mike Wilson did this dagger, snake, and roses on me at the SFO convention in 2012. included a #livedintattoos comparison of the day of vs today (wth poor lighting).
  15. You should definitely check out the LST Animal Lovers thread and share some photos of your bundles of joy. Even after that horrible sounding experience 10yrs ago, it sounds like you've grown and already made the step of booking an appointment. As far as following thru and going for it, this is completely up to you and how you feel. None of us can speak to your mental state. As tattoo lovers, of course, we say "go for it!" But you're the only one who knows if you're really ready. If you're having any doubts, it's up to you to analyze them and either succumb to or overcome them. If you're ready to be tattooed again and you've chosen an artist who does solid work, there should be nothing to worry about. Good luck with your decision!!

    Hi!

    Welcome to LST!
  17. @bevans555 don't get me wrong... you should still be nervous. it's pretty damn horrible. and it's on the back, which is horrible enough with just one artist working on you. be ready to practice some controlled breathing and meditation! as far as price goes, i've never come across an artist who gives a discount for repeat customers. but i also haven't gone to one artist for that many tattoos either. i can't imagine an artist even giving a discount for someone getting an entire body suit. the price is the price. they're doing a job to get money to pay rent, feed their families, and buy all the shit they want... just like the rest of us. that said, there are tons of great artists around with cool personalities. you shouldn't feel committed to one artist just because you don't want to venture out and take a chance. if you're not happy with his work or what you're getting for the price, you deserve to find a "better" artist, as you put it. also... feel free to share some pics of your current work, if you so desire. We LSTers love us some tattoo pics!
  18. my first back piece session was linework by Chad Koepligner and Jondix. They both work super fast, which means they were ripping into me pretty good. It was painful as F*** and there are fewer breaks. usually, you get the breather when your artist is dipping, wiping, or thinking. in the case of having multiple artists, one artist's break is the other's prime time. I posted about it here, in the collaboration thread: here's some video evidence: the appearance of the one session where they both worked on me simultaneously turned out just fine.
  19. you'd be surprised... although some artists only post the big pieces they're working on, they still do smaller one-shot pieces. as far as selecting an artist, it's really up to your preference. do some research and find someone who does some peonies you like, then don't be afraid to give the shop a call and see when they're available. if i was gonna get a peony in NYC... i'd go to Garver. if you want to explore more options, you could also wait for the NYC convention to come around!
